Sh*t. Gucci IS ill. Soulja IS ill. OJ Da Juiceman IS ill. The South IS ill! Like it or not, it doesn't mean that we have forgotten about New York, Los Angeles, the golden hip-hop-era. I understand that you hate, but there is a new generation of kids, with NEW ideas and NEW styles, you have to live with it. Hip Hop is NOT losing such names as Snoop, NWA, Wu-Tang, Public Enemy, Eazy-E etc. You can hate the South as much as you want. I don't care. I'm just saying, live with it! Or maybe, don't give a f*ck for it?

Well to be honest, most of the rappers from the south like Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy, Flo Rida, ETC. are more like pop than Rap/Hip Hop. I really don't know why people even classify them as Rap/Hip Hop.

If I remember right, Snoop fell off, NWA fell off, PE haven't worked together in ages, Eazy-E is dead and the last Wu album that dropped was called

Wu-South

lol

The Kobe Bryant - 24 23 tracks are plenty serious. I think they were in spite of the recent Kobe Bryant, Lebron James whose better then who polls. Besides I don't think I asked for you to critique them mothaucka.

N.W.A never fell off. They just split up is all. Efil4zaggin (or Niggaz4Life, however you want to name it) is a classic and still rated highly by reviewers and many fans.

And Public Enemy did rather fall off than stop working together. Every album they have made since the late 90s have been disappointing bar Rebirth of a Nation maybe.

Hate to break it to you but the Niggaz4Life is 18 years old.

For me "falling off" means being worse than before and nowhere near your peak.

N.W.A were fire while they were around. So, the real answer is they broke up rather than fell off.

Actually he is, he's from Atlanta GA.

As for NWA, they didn't fall off, they split up. Snoop Dogg on the other hand, he fell off, right after he made Drop It Like It's Hot.

Drop it Like it's Hot is actually okay. What really made me mad at him was "Sexual Eruption".

None of us give a f*ck about Snoop, Dre and Co. dozingoff.gif

I think most of us are fine with the way hip hop is now. Underground hip hop that is. There are new rappers with new styles, and most of us love them. We don't however, appreciate no talent pop divas like Solja Boy and Guicci. Nobody cares about the west coast or the "golden era". You've got it all wrong.

To be honest, hip hop could lose Snoop, Dre and Easy E and I wouldn't be too concerned, though I'm not adverse to them. You seem to think we are all complaining that the hip hop itself has gone down hill and that we all only like Tupac and dislike contemporary hip hop for the sole reason that it is new. It's not like that at all, we just dislike the mainstream

Changed the color of your text to accentuate your ignorance of good music.

Most of us don't care about the era of West Coast reign? Anyone of regular persons in this discussion could go back through this topic and find a plethora of posts of praises to the West Coast/Oldschool rap.

Dont think for one second that just because you and a few of your "friends" on here are the only ones with a valid opinion or for that matter a legitimate opinion at all.

The absolute fact of the matter is, your "knowledge" and lack of respect of older rap/hip-hop is the reason that the rap/hip-hop scene is in the shambles that it is now. Not to mention that these lazy rappers these days would not be around had it had been for Wu, NWA, Dre etc.

I dont post much at all and this is the only topic I view, so please refrain from issuing us your ignorant diatribes of what exactly good music is.

ON TOPIC:

Anyone looking forward to any albums coming up before the years end??

Other than Em's album which I actually enjoyed a few tracks, I am looking forward to Raekwon's new album, a possible new Swollen Members album, and a few others.

Oh and wheres Gantonsmostwanted? He use to be one of the more knowledgeable in here

The apathetic view that most rappers take towards music today is also why the industry is only a shell of what it was during the 90s. The eighties and nineties made the absolute best rap music and I can't stand many of the mainstream rappers today who after each and every new single lower the quality of the music that the public listens to and purchases. They have no respect for those who made all of this possible. This is evident with such clowns as Soulja Boy dissing Ice T, a gangsta rap pioneer, and Lil' Wayne dubbing himself the best rapper ever and going on the cover of XXL wearing a a t-shirt that reads "I AM HIP HOP." I can't stress my hatred for those two enough, and I cannot stomach 95% of the music that is put onto hip hop and rap stations today; it's terrible.

With that said, here are some of the albums that I'm anticipating this year. (In no particular order.)

Saigon - The Greatest Story Never Told (If it's actually released.)

Clipse - Till the Casket Drops

Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II

Rakim - The 7th Seal

Lupe Fiasco - LupEND

And I'm REALLY hoping that Dre releases Detox this year. I've been waiting for this album for about 8 years along with everybody else.

I'm sure you could find lots discussing it, it was a good era for rap music. However, I don't hold it in a higher regard than contemporary hip hop. I was simply pointing out to Cheat that people here enjoy modern rap, and aren't stuck in the 90s as he was suggesting.

Don't take things out of context.

Isn't that exactly what you're doing when you say "The absolute fact of the matter is, your "knowledge" and lack of respect of older rap/hip-hop is the reason that the rap/hip-hop scene is in the shambles that it is now."

Furthermore, I fail to see how rap is in shambles.

I'm really doubting the ones in bold are going to be released this year. They keep on getting pushed back all the time. And there's no talk about Detox. Although Dre said it would come out after Eminem would release Relapse I'm still doubting it simply because not even a snippet of the album has come out or anything... correct me if I'm wrong but I'm not aware of any yet.

I'm also anticipating the quoted albums plus:

Royce da 5'9 - Street Hop

Slaughterhouse - Whatever they are releasing

Nas & Damian Marley - Distant Relatives

Jay-Z - The Blueprint 3

...and everything DJ Premier takes part in!

I think we'll be lucky to see a release this year. However, according to Wikipedia September 15 is the new confirmed release date, so that is quite promising. Album artwork has been released as well:

I'm sure most people in here have, but you can't be serious about the Wu, right? They're still releasing dope sh*t all the time, mainly solo releases though.

There is however supposed to be a Wu-Tang compilation album out today titled Chamber Music. It's not really a compilation album though since it features brand spankin' new tracks.

Apart from the Wu, a wide selection of east-coast hip-hop veterans will be featured on the album, including; AZ, Kool G Rap, M.O.P., Sadat X, Sean Price, Cormega, Masta Ace, and Havoc of Mobb Deep.

I wasn't saying all mainstream is terrible, I was pointing out to Cheat that the distain for modern rap Cheat thinks he sees, doesn't indicate our dials are stuck in the 90s. It's an issue people have with the mainstream.
