@FunkyChunky: Dilla is probably one of the best things to ever happen to Hip-Hop and it's a shame if you ask anyone who Jay Dee is (not JD, Jermaine Dupri the biting asshole), people will say JD and then when you say no, no, not Jermaine Dupri they will be confused as all get out. People who actually know something about Hip-Hop will tell you Dilla was one of the most revolutionary as far as production wise. I mean go look at Donuts, Fantastic Vol. 1 & 2, or Like Water for Chocolate, all of them are extremely well-produced and have been all considered classics. If you have never heard of Jay Dee, you need to go find out.

Madlib for people who don't know. He does everything, a follower of Dilla but his style is more spaced out. If Jay Dee was John Coltrane, Madlib is Sun Ra.

This is a "trailer" for Madlib's Beat Konducta series for Beat Konducta Vols. 3-4: Beat Konducta in India all music in trailer is by Madlib.

What's this Auto-Tune thing I keep hearing out?

It's a program or some kind of studio equipment that allows you to seem like a better singer or lack thereof. Example, that electronic thing T-Pain uses for ALL of his songs. Other artist who currently use it include Kanye West, Lil' Wayne, and Jamie Foxx.

Is that why T-Pain, Lil Wayne and Jamie Foxx have those annoying voices in their songs? Also although Auto-Tune sucks, I do think that Kanye should be the only one using it.

Nawwww. Kanye is a good rapper, College Dropout and Late Registration were great albums. 808's and Heartbreak was pretty bad, "singing" wise. The production was top notch, but thats about it. He sounds bad singing even with autotune. Imo, T-Pain should be the only one using it, he was the one using it before everyone jumped on it. Although he is a good rapper also, there was a track I heard from Thr33 Rings where he rapped without autotune about everyone using autotune (wat) and I had to check it was actually T-Pain. Lil' Wayne is falling off.

Edit: This was the T-pain track. f*ck DJ Khaled that fat screaming f*ck.

@Ciabatta: I love Dilla and Madlib. Both produce(d) amazing stuff. Jaylib was just heaven having both together.

^Love it. Big Ass House is also a good one from that mixtape.

And it looks like Mr. Barker went ahead and did another remix, this time 3AM. I love it tbh, better than the original I dare say.

Blink is also touring this summer I found out. I'm shocked.

Straying from my traditional old school hip-hop playlist, I just got the album A Grand Don't Come for Free by The Streets. I've been missing out..

This autotune sh*t is getting ridiculous its degrading the quality of the artists music and the replay value but it only seems to be the most egocentric rappers like Kanye or the stupid ones like Wayne. As for Eminems new album its been worth the 5 year wait and i feel that hip hop has needed another album like his with an acctual concept because artists just think its a good idea to throw 20 random songs on a cd with 5 bullsh*t singles and call it an album but hey i guess it shows us who will be remembered in the future all these soulja boys and autotune rappers is a phase like Xzibit said in an interview but when it comes to acctually looking back at the music the people remembered will probably be lyricists like Crooked I, Royce Da 5'9'', Eminem, Xzibit along with many more who don't get the props they deserve for there music. Killa I never really appreciated The Streets as artists but he seems a pretty down to earth guy and if you take the time to listen his lyrics are quite thought provoking i liked his single from his last album Heaven For The Weather its quite a decent track. As for Travis Barker i think if Blink f*cks up hes got himself a nice outlet of jumping on every hip hop remixes because he does a very good job of most songs.

Everyone will laugh there asses off at this short movie by Eminem.

I don't follow all this gang-banging blood/crips stuff, but this video is worth watching for its ridiculous blue-ness.

I'm somewhat excited about Icp's Bang! Pow! Boom!. However I'm sure it will be just another piece of sh*t, just ever other ICP album released after the Amazing Jeckel Bros (except Bizzar and Bizaar). ICP's new style that they've been using since The Wraith is just god awful, I mean it doesn't even sound like them anymore. ICP could improve they're musical skills, perhaps by getting the help of an old enemy, Eminem or perhaps another talented rapper, Cage mabye?

Also ICP needs to include new guest artist in songs, seriously, does evey guest single have to feature another Juggalo arist like Twiztid or Boondox, honestly they should include better gust artist like Aesop Rock or MF Doom.

Please don't bash me for saying this but I really do think ICP could improve themselves as musicians, so perhaps they could actually become good rappers without having to sell a million t shirts a day.

<Onyx Video>

Fun fact: that beat...or at least sample...was used for Busta Rhymes' Wild for the Night too (I still prefer Onyx's though).

@ Flesh-n-Bone: I love Primo's beats. They're so simple, but you can tell one from a mile away, and they all sound great!

Yeah, the relaxing beats along with the scratched choruses give it away easily. The only exception to his style is "Represent" (Nas). On that song, it is a bit harder to notice Premier's work behind the beat for that classic.

There is a lack of Masta Ace in this topic and he's definitely in my top 3 fav MCs:

Em/MA...this one makes me nostalgic

Really cool dude btw. My friend had a gig at one of his shows before.

Masta Ace is well... ace!

Take a Look Around is more or less a classic and Disposable Arts is above pretty good.

I've posted this video a few billion times in various places, but I can't resist doing it again.

You have to crank up the bass on this one.
