Hi

Do you reckon Claude killed Maria at the end of GTA 3.

Becuaese at the end of the final cut scene it goes black and you here Maria talking alot, then you here a shotgun fire.

So do you think he killed her?

Seeing as how Maria stopped talking as soon as the gun fired, I think it's safe to say that she's dead.

She could have been traumatised!!!

She was presumably killed in the final cutscene. Honestly, it's unknown whether the gunshot was meant to kill her because of her constant nagging, but to me, her death seems like the most logical answer to your question.

I don't find her being traumatized more likely than her actually being killed.

Personally I don’t think Claude would go through all that just to kill her. Her constant talking is annoying but I think the gun shot was to frighten her into silence.

It has been a debated situation over the years since you obviouisly dont see him shoot her, only hear the gun shot. Although its doubtful that he did kill her, its possible. Maybe he just shot a bullet in the air, but possibvly she would have screamed. But it was obviously just the developers saying maria needed to shut the f*ck up...

Mister Zero

I think it leaves it open to be honest. Rockstar were at the position at the time of making the game where they didn't know the future of GTA. Maybe they wanted Maria to come back, so they'd use the arguement seen here where Claude shuts her up by firing in the air, startling her.

However, it could go two ways, as R* may have thought "we might not want her back, she talks too much" and therefore no Maria in the future. It's interesting to note that the games made after III are all set before 2001 so we may never know the truth.

I read in these forums heaps of people saying rockstar confirmed that he didn't kill her. Plus why would he kill her after going all that way to save her, bringing the 500,000 to catalina's mansion and fighting through everyone.

creative madman

Catalina poses the question herself "did you come to get me back, or did you come to save her"

or soemthing to that effect

i think it was just a joke, that we're overanalysing

if Rockstar spent as much time analysing their games as we do

than we would have seen the backyard of Marcos bistro back in GTA3 and in LCS

and in San Andreas: the introduction, Luigis would have actully been Paulies reveule bar

etc,etc,etc

i personally dont htink he killed her, but than hes fairly unemotive, so who knows

You don't know for sure.

But I like to think that he did. He didn't need her anymore anyway, she served her purpose; being the perfect opportunity to exact revenge on Catalina.

Maybe there was only the sound of a gun, signifying that the final shot had been fired and everything is finished, or something to that poetic effect.

Maybe its not supposed to be blatant, but a (metaphor?)

I think Claude wouldnt of went through all the trouble just to kill Maria in the end. He most likely shot a warning to shut her up, like the previous members were saying.

I don't think you are supposed to think that far into it. This was Rockstar's first 3D GTA and they didn't know if they would be making any more, or even if people would like it. So, they weren't thinking about having huge intertwining stories and stuff like that. It was one final joke at the end, because all she did was run her mouth and he was sick of hearing it.

why wouldn't claude kill her.

Reasons why he killed her:

1. Claude doesn't take anything from anyone, look at salvatore

2. why would he do all that work, and then not kill her.

3. She shoots him in the biggining and then insults him.

4. If she was say tramatized, wouldn['t she at least scream after the gunshot, meaning she died instantly

I mean would you do all the game just not to kill her? The reason they did not show this is it was early into the playstation 2. People weren't ready for stuff that graphic.

The same thing happend with diez. "Goodnight Mr. Diez" Bang. Does this mean they shot next to him to scare him, and then let him go free.

I truly think he went to all the trouble of paying and everything just so he could be the one to kill her.

Well, it's not like she is a real person... R* created her and could do anything they wanted to her in future games, if they decide to use her again. They could make her silent as Claude. wink.gif

Catalina and Maria are two different people. We are talking about Maria.

I don't know if I'm alone in this, but I always thought that woman talking at the end was just another random bystander talking. confused.gif

Anyway, we'll probably never know if Maria was killed or not. But if so, I don't miss her. colgate.gif

Claude isn't a Victor or a CJ when it comes to personality or feeling... Hell, he's not even a Tommy.. He's cold and like Catalian said "the real question is, diid you come to rescue Maria or to get me back?"

It's not out of the question at all that he was just there to finally kill Catalina and I saw nothing from Claude that would suggest he had any qualms with blowing Maria's head off.

To me it's always been that he got to Catalina through Maria. He didn't need Maria, his sole mission was to get revenge on Catalina.

Yeah. I belive that Maria IS dead because she isnt seen In San Andreas. As are Catalina and Claude.

Wikipedia states:Claude's first chronological appearance in the Grand Theft Auto III-era Grand Theft Auto storyline is a cameo as a thug in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, where he races against, and loses to, Carl "CJ" Johnson, all the while "pleasuring" Catalina, in 1992. After the race, Catalina informs Carl Johnson that the two of them need to keep their car to go to Liberty City, and instead of a pink slip, give him the deed to a run-down car garage in San Fierro.

After leaving for Liberty City, Catalina phones Carl Johnson at certain plot points. One phone call seemingly indicates Catalina was intending to speak to Claude, mentioning Claude's first name; another has Catalina in mid-orgasm, screaming the same first name.

(What a coincidence, I just finished the storyline today) It's possible Claude killed Maria. I personally thought he fired the gunshot to shut her up. If Claude didn't, then I wonder where Maria flew off too.

But throughout the storyline he shows practically no emotion, apart from a burning want for revenge against Catalina. I think personally that he shot her.

Claude seems to be a pit slow or something, and he is cold blooded, but he wouldnt be THAT dumb, that he would save Maria and then just kill her. I would have done something else with Maria, and since Claude is crown man, I think he only shot to scare her, before they get to car and start havin´ sex. tounge.gif
