Artificial Languages (conlangs)

Recommended Posts

I know this forum is for about texts of writing. And thus this forum would best apply for languages and artificial languages as a subsubject.

Anyone created a conlang here?

Well, I have. Actually, I created quite a few, however, only my latest one is worthy of speaking, and because I am actually quite pleased with it.

I call the language Standard (Eerókfáýháleenúk). The language's intend is for a sci-fi novel I am writing.

I use the accents when writing in Latin to avoid the confusion between the usual sounds in English with the unaccented characters and thus of Standard. Standard is considered phonetic, however, Standard is very loss on sound, because it considers different accents, dialects, etc. acceptable.

The name of the languages is a reference to Common (e.g. Lord of the Rings) and Basic (e.g. Star Wars) languages found in other works. The exception here is that those are usually just represented by English (which this language is as well in the book), but I intend to also create this language. And then when the novel is done, translate it from English to Standard.

Here are some pages with details about Standard:

Grammar

Alphabet/writing system

Online Standard English Dictionary

Standard Measurement/Time Systems Converter

Nice to see all these references in one place since you showed them to me last month, you are either a genius or a madman..quite possibly both but anyone who can create languages and alphabets from scratch is awesomer in my book.
