What is this icon on my map?

There is a red x or + in a circle on my map at an San Fierro amunation...so I go there and complete the amunation challenge including the AK47...The icon never went away...now its switched to over the amunation in Los Santos...so I play the firing range again...still there...how can I get rid of it...?

You probably pressed the right mouse button while viewing the map/clicking on it. This icon helps you get from one place to another, especially when your not familiar with the map. Just use it if you want to get to a place and you dont know where it is exactly. Click on the place you desire on the map and the radar will show the icon no mater how far you are from it.

If you are right and the little red market is what he is doing that with then figuring it out is essential for many uses that are otherwise very difficult especailly when using air vehicles but the marker is useful for everything. Think of it as a GPS marker for a IPod or something.

Yes, I would agree, you must have right clicked on the map to show the waypoint marker...simply right click again anywhere on the map to remove it...right click again on the map and it will add it to the map where your mouse pointer is..

 

It is used to mark the map for personal uses....and by marking the map...it will show up on your in game minimap, basicly showing you where you set a waypoint to go to.
