I'm sorry but how can people not believe in God?

Recommended Posts

Craig Kostelecky

What were given in the bible is the absolute truth about God, that's it. I'd be hypocrite to say different if I didn't have 100% faith in the bible.

Yes, but why does the Bible contradict it self? If it is the absolute truth.

There never has been a legitimate, true contradiction in the bible that has ever been found, you do know that right?

I'm sure one of these 384 contradictions are legitimate and true.

Bible contradictions -- the alleged inaccuracies and errors that fill today's Bible translations -- are a major intellectual barrier for many skeptics. It's remarkable how many critics refer to their "list" of contradictions when they reject the Bible, but have never read the Bible itself. Of course, if the Bible does contain inaccuracies, it would show that those parts of scripture could not have come from a Divine source. However, it's very convenient to accuse the Bible of errors and contradictions, but it's a different matter to prove it.

How about this? I was simply reading a section of the Bible. The real book from the attic. I didn't look at any websites for this, I simply read it and came to this conclusion myself. It may be found on some website as well, but I haven't looked (yet).

I was reading the book of Luke. And I got to chapter 3, and specifically the verses 23-38. That lists the genealogy of Jesus through Joseph all the way back to Adam and finally God. However, in those dozens of names, I did not see Noah's name there once.

I thought the entire population of the human race (minus Noah and his wife) was wiped out sometime between Adam's birth and Jesus's. So if Noah was the last male remaining on Earth, how come Jesus didn't descend from him? So either the genealogy listed here is wrong, or the story of the flood is wrong.

Also, why would Joseph's genealogy matter unless he was Jesus's birth father?

OOPS: I did find it. Noah's in 3:36. I'll look for something else.

I haven't read through that in a bit but I think Noah's in there somewhere, he also went aboard with his family not just he and his wife. And Joseph was Mary's husband giving Jesus that lineage.

Okay, here's an idea. Pray for the truth, I ask for those who are reading this thread pray with your heart for the truth no matter if you're clinged on to science or religion, just pray to God to open your eyes for the truth, I'd like to see the answers over the next coming weeks, months, or even years. Be sure to post.

Here's another idea, believe in science. You're using all this effort preaching about god, but have you actually taken the time to read up on how god might not exist in any other place but your head?

Yeah I have and when I come to the end of it, I think there's really no possible way unless there was an intelligent creator. Have you tried what I've done but vice versa?

I'll admit that I haven't, and I probably never will. That doesn't matter however, because you're the person who presented the argument, and begun by calling those who do not believe in god "fools".

You ask me to do something which I've already done yet you won't even yourself try and explore the bible? My fool comment seems it like it was especially designed for you and people like yourself. I mean, it takes faith to believe in something and it seems that you have total faith in science but you aren't willing to go outside of that to find anything more than that? Yeah, hypocrite.

I never once said I have total faith in anything. However, at this point in my life, I do not need spiritual guidance, nor do I need comfort from believing that there's a 'heaven' waiting for me once I bite the dust.

To be completely honest, I have no religion. I don't believe in god, but I don't firmly believe that science is the ultimate 'being' that created 'everything'. I really just don't give a f*ck. However, I'd much rather not be a part of something that discriminates among sexual preference, incites enough hatred to kill thousands of people for no other reason than they have different beliefs, fills the television airwaves with religious propaganda for hours among hours on the weekends (television evangelists should be outlawed), and forces me to wake up early on sundays for fear of being sent to hell for eternal damnation.

Sure, I'm doing a lot of generalizing here, but I really don't care all too much.

As to nonbelieving, I think the following is pretty good on stating the position that believers like Made in the 80s would criticize.

Dont believe in fear

Dont believe in faith

Dont believe in anything

That you cant break

[...]

What drives you on what drives you on

Can drive you mad can drive you mad

A million lies to sell yourself

Is all you ever had

Dont believe in fear

Dont believe in faith

Dont believe in anything

That you cant break

[...]

MadeInThe80s, I can't really describe the contempt I have for you right now. Probably because I'm drunk so most of my vocabulary escapes me. Drunk is also probably the reason I'm wasting my time at 3am posting to this stupid f*cking topic about you evangelising like an idiot about sh*t you don't know f*ck about, flailing wildly at anything that resembles a disparate opinion with nonsensical and cliched ramblings.

Seriously you've said so many goddamn f*cking retarded things I almost puked.

Firstly, neither atheism nor science can in any meaningful way be said to be religions. They do not have any object of worship, they do not prescribe any rules and regulations about how one should live, they do not have any organisation or structure whereby "members" ritualistically congregate and assimilate, and they do not have any infallible doctrine of truth upon which the foundations of the religion are unquestionably built.

The only way atheism or science could be thought of as religions would be if the term were used exceedingly loosely, and insomuch as they could be thought of as religions, so too could governments, educational institutions, book clubs, and sports.

If they were religions, then I submit that they should be eligible to be tax exempt. If you agree that they are religions, then please start a petition whereby they will become government recognised religions and benefit from all the cushy advantages thereof. If you don't want atheists and scientists to be tax exempt, then shut the f*ck up you goddamn sh*tf*cking cock chewing retard.

Secondly, your whole horsesh*t about there being no contradictions in the bible......

HAHAHHAHAHHAHAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!1!111!11one1!!1eleven

Holy knife f*cking jesus, you really have no clue about ass do you? Even the most acclaimed and recognised theologians (people who know about ten billion times more about the bible than you do) recognise and admit to the hundreds of inconsistencies and contradictions throughout the entire bible. Mostly they put these down to the timelines that the different books were written, the various authors of each book, and the interferences of authorities and wannabes.

There ARE hundreds of contradictions. It's as simple as that. Denial doesn't change this demonstrable fact.

Thirdly, Joseph's heritage is IRRELEVANT. Joseph was not Jesus' father. Jesus was the son of GOD, and Mary was his mother. Unless Joseph was god, or joseph's sperm was god (impossible, since the birth was apparently "immaculate"), joseph's lineage is completely and utterly irrelevant. The fact that it is even in the bible is an hilarious oversight and shows a complete lack of coherent structure and consistency.

Fourthly, I forgot what I was going to say. You're an idiot.

Fifthly, cut this evangelist sh*t out. You're being annoying in the extreme, and succeeding only in pissing people off and lowering their opinion of you. You should rename this thread to "I'm sorry, but how can people not want to kill me right now?". This whole thread seems like some extremely pathetic attempt to validate your own stupid opinions by fighting other people in some retarded and vain expectancy that if they give up on you then you must be right and your beliefs are justified. I mean, seriously, lol. This isn't a discussion, this is you versus the forum. You respond to every post with some weaksauce lameass rhetorical question or "nuh uh" or some other equally pretentious and ill-informed crap like your comments on science or telling people to "pray for truth" or declaring that they need spiritual guidance.... whatever the f*ck that is supposed to be. Since when is the personal pursuit of knowledge and objective truth about reality the antithesis of religion??? Oh yeah, when knowledge and the pursuit of it consistently point out how f*cking dumb-as-dog-sh*t religion is. Maybe if you knew your asshole from your foot you'd realise the value of understanding the world around us and how we can use this knowledge, as opposed to just labelling everything "god did it".

Sixthly, damn, just shut the f*ck up you dumb c*nt.

People like you remind me why I hate.

Ya know, I’ve read the entirety of this thread and all I’ve seen is indoctrination vs. perceived proof of absence.

Various members have stated that there is no proof that “God” does exist. The flip side to this (obviously) is that there is no proof that “God” doesn’t exist.

As I have said time and time again over my years here, whether “God” does, or does not exist, is not the issue. Religion is a man-made societal construct.

For me, a true believer of the Christian faith would also a true believer of the 10 commandments:

1. You shall have no other Gods but me.

2. You shall not make for yourself any idol, nor bow down to it or worship it.

3. You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.

4. You shall remember and keep the Sabbath day holy.

5. Respect your father and mother.

6. You must not kill.

7. You must not commit adultery.

8. You must not steal.

9. You must not give false evidence against your neighbour.

10. You must not be envious of your neighbour's goods. You shall not be envious of his house nor his wife, nor anything that belongs to your neighbour.

There are varying alternatives of the text with respect to wording, but the above is essentially the gist of things.

If one had 100% faith in a religion, then they would never ever betray the teaching of said faith.

Software piracy is theft, having MP3’s on one’s computer (if one does not own a legitimate licensed copy of the related track), is theft. This would equate to a contradiction of rule No.8 of the commandments.

If MadeInThe80s can honestly say that they have no software without licence, nor file or folder on their PC that is not without paid authorisation, then they have a platform from which to preach.

Otherwise such “faith” is just as broken as everybody else’s and denial would be a word that readily springs to mind. Another word that readily springs to mind would be “hypocrisy”.

Any breach of the commandments equates to a beach of faith, for if one had true faith – one could never breach the commandments.

Ain’t life grand smile.gif

That entirely depends on how you interpret the law vs your morals. I for one wouldn't call pirating MP3's theft - but this is another topic altogether. wink.gif

I admit to much worse than software piracy but one's faith doesn't and shouldn't stop there and it's ignorant of you to think so. If you break a rule it doesn't mean that you're not worthy to be a Christian. I think really there's no one out there who doesn't sin or f*ck up somehow, it's apart of our nature. I think people follow this image of a Christian that we're suppose to be angels or whatever, I'm no angel, I've been a pretty f*cked up kid the last few years, been locked up, done sh*t I'm not proud of, ya know the usual... But I don't live a peachy, fruitful life full of love, hugs and kisses, it's probably quite the damn opposite but I still hold onto my faith.

Christ.

I don't go out of my way to sin if you think I do and I make sure to keep myself aligned with the scriptures, I'm just not conscious of some sh*t until afterwards. I'm still growing spiritually.

Then why take the time to ram your particular POV down other throats? I simply don’t understand?

Isn’t growing spiritually an individual concern? Why attempt to enforce such perceived spirituality on others before your journey has ended?

We are living examples of God's work yet people refuse to believe in a "creator" and that we were formed from molecules over billions of years. Even if that were true, who created the matter which formed us today? Believing in evolution seems to me the most ludicrous way of how man was created. God exists OUT of everything, if evolution were true, GOD created it. There's no other way. I can't stand people who think we were products of chance, how absurd... Only a fool would say that and truly believe it. God exists, that I know is the truth.

Your tone strikes towards antagonism and leans towards that of a desperate nature. It is up to others to decide whether I was “bitching”, or not. Not you, or I.

Um yo, I'm not the only one doing the antagonizing here. It's goes both ways. I'm just stating what I believe and what I feel is the truth, I think any other idea is absurd, if you're so insecure about your own beliefs that this gets to you then just leave, I don't want to nanny anyone.
