Is anyone writing a successor script to KAMS? I find it to be dated at this point and had hoped there'd be some improved version by now.

 

I mean, I would certainly write a script if I kneww DFF and Maxscript well enough.

 

I just want to know because with everything this community as a whole knows about DFF and COL models at this point, there really should be a better script set.

 

I realize Kam couldnt release his source, so if anyone does release a new script set, it will be scratch made. Still wonder why no one ever pwned the script and opened it and improved it anyway... If I could I would open that bitch up and fix it.

i started one, and it works, but its not releasable atm. the code is messy, and needs some major re-writes (i could release it right now, but you couldn't export models with vertex colors (max has a sh*tty method of handling vertex colors), or reflections )

besides being extremely disrespectful, he used one of the maxscript features to intentionally encrypt (lock out) the important scripts. if you open them in notepad, all you'll see is un-editable gibberish. it would be faster and easier to write a new script from scratch, than try to crack the encryption.

yes, but you don't. and the dff format is pretty complex, and is not something a beginner should tackle.

 

I think ak-73 mentioned something about writing his own version as well, which also went unreleased. think it was just for VC though. but to get back to your original question...

yea, I knew Remember, some code wasnt his too.

 

But hopefully your script comes out sweet, man. I'm feinding for something that does it all.
