A new gta game.

Don't hold me to it, it may never be finished. If I finish it.

 

I am making a gta type game called Street Wars. It will only be multiplayer online "no single player mode. You will be able to aim with the mouse and your player will follow where the mouse is. The mouse will be a plus sign for the aimer. There will be about 20 cars ranging from tanks to cars. There will be different weapons such as throwing knifes, a shotgun, a sniper, a pistol...

 

I have run into some trouble and need someone who has experience with Gamemaker.

i have used GM before and have it downloaded and well i might be able to do some of what u need help with so just tell me what u need help with and ill try to help

I've got a few Game Maker GTA games... look out for "Pliston City" on the gamemaker.nl forums, it looks beautiful, even has it's own radio station, which is quite funny.

 

I'll probably try doing me own oldskool GTA in Multimedia Fusion 2 one day, i've drawn a few car graphics (no uncredited "hope nobody notices" rips from gtazz.com for me!). It will be set in the English countryside and have one tiny village and one small city... but will be as violent as south central LA XD

Im not so sure im gonna go through with it. Now that vcs is out for ps2

What kinda files? assuming this even gets made (i'm at university... work to do, plus my interests wave around, in a month's time i could be concentrating 100% on a Doom mod or something). I could do with some textures for roads/grass/roofs of buildings. Few sound effects wouldnt go amiss too... if you have ones that are home-made or from freeware libraries, i aint interested in nicked stuff (though will probably steal my sound effects from obscure games anyway, like Hellforces and Manhattan Chase, which are crap). I was trying to record the sound of my Mini while i was driving it (it's stripped so you can hear the engine), but the little sound recorder i used was crap

gamemaker files, and nothing was stolen, don't worry about that. I am not going to go through with it I decided, Im not smart enough with gamemaker. So if you want to do a little bit of work to it and send it back to me I will be happy to do so, and will also include you in the credits above mine.

Ahh, i thought you meant letting me take assets from the game. I'm awful with Game Maker, i dont even have it any more, so i won't be able to even open it to work on it XD

Game Maker has improved recently, it can do 3D (though slowly if you use a lot of 3D) and render smoke/fire etc on the fly. What it doesnt have is built-in good collistion detection (as evidenced by numerous otherwise brilliant GTA clones made in it that i have played, where cars get stuck in each other or buildings way too easily) or extra third party extensions being constantly released. Which is why i'll be using Multimedia Fusion, the smoke and fire will be sprites and look jerky and fake, and the buildings will be faked 3D using a lot of 2D "slices" moving at different speeds, but the cras will collide with each other rather than get stuck together, and fancy features will be added as more extensions apper that i decide to use (there was one that produced a VERY cool car relflection system, there where "lights" on the ground and as you drove over them the light was 'reflected' over the bodywork of the car realistically, though my game will be in perpetual daylight and using that effect on a lot of cars at once would cause horrible slow-down, but it still looked very cool in the example

I made a GTA game called the City of Pliston using Game maker. The advantage of the program is that it is very easy to use, and if you expand it properly, you can make quite professional and popular games. Recently, this guy won a lot of money and a magazine feature on a GM game. So Gm should be 'Poo Pooed'.

I LOVE Pliston, one of the best fan-made GTA games out there. I became very inspired to make my own one after playing it. Well i was going to anyway but Pliston made me think "I could do this!". I actually collect GTA fangames no matter how crappy they are (and there's been some gems i can tell you, in one it was 'top down' but the car was a picture of the side of a car, so you could drive upside down, the fake 'loading' screen was more impressive than the game) just to visit new cities and explore them... then destroy them!

 

My one will probably now have totally 2D buildings (ie you can only see the roof). But a LOT of cars, including things like the "Excalibur" (Ford Escort) which will have hatchback, estate and van versions, and the "Borion" saloon XD. Also i'm hoping to include hidden packages, CARds (get one every time you steal a new kind of car, get them all in a category to get secret cars, get all the secret cars to get a very secret car), Taxi missions, Ambulance missions, Van driver, Blood transfusion (similar to ambulance really, but you collect blood from donation vans in specfic locations and then take it to the site of some "big disaster" for the medics there), Dogging and Steal to order (car list) missions

 

A recent Game Maker game was released called Crimelife 2, which is like Driver 2 graphics with guns and unrealistic cae handling (but it's only an early alpha). I may use this idea to produce the prequel to my GTA game, which will actually have totally different gameplay (like Felony 11-79 and Runabout 2) and be set in 1991
