RoxRox
Those are bloody great for sketchup, but as far as model cars in general go, they're still very... sketchupish. Reckon you'd be good trying out zmodeler1 to better your modelling skills. Anyway, great cars for the program you made them in. Cran.
Good for sketchup.. but a waste of time if you want to model cars. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/268493-wipscr-r31-skyline-and-81-ford-cortina/#findComment-4076854 Share on other sites
Organic Zero
Good for sketchup.. but a waste of time if you want to model cars. let's not start that crap "sketchup is not good for this or that".... i've seen people capable of modelling cars and even humanoid creatures with it.... I'd say that they are good, you just need to use your common sense to fix what is wrong on it. also, adding more detail and trying to work with blueprints will definatly make your work easier.... This is true - I hadn't realised myself until recently. Take a look here. It's just a sketchup modeler's first model looks very different to a zmodeler or max modeler's first. Either way - good start. Let me know if you want any refrence pictures or textures joshika - I own an '81 Cortina. [DRuG]NikT
lolz @ Ryder35 - Ketchup... maybe someone should model some Heinz. Here's my 2c for joshika, tho - You could easily import your work so far into zmod or 3dsmax... I'd recommend the latter... then take advantage of the many modifiers in it to smooth out the edges etc. Once you have the model up to scratch for your tastes, get Kam's dff/io plugins for 3dsmax, install and start a new project to use Kam's tools to import a default san andreas vehicle, then experiment with exporting it with no changes and testing in game, making sure you have a col file specified when exporting - use one from a comparable vice city car - san doesn't use cols the same way as previous GTAs. This should ensure you have your export technique working, before you start to attach your model parts to their san vehicle part equivalents. That's my Readers' Digest version... you should be able to find some howtos on the editing discussion forums, but this may help, at least, to steer you in the direction of 3dsmax, not zmod, which I have a personal hatred of. Suction Testicle Man
Actually I own an '82 - it's a 2.0GL OHC saloon with a 5-speed manual off a Sierra. Lovely cars. Can't help you with your collision problem, sorry. Could only recommend maybe importing the model into zmod2 and adding a collision model using that (not too difficult). [DRuG]NikT
In Kam's dff/io plugin, when you click "select col file" it will allow you to browse - but it defaults to browsing for .dff, you need to change that in the pulldown, and select col, then browse to the location where you have a col saved - it should then replace the words on the button from "select col" to the name of the col file. then you need to ensure you have everything selected, and click export dff - you don't "join" the col later or anything, the process I just outlined embeds the col into the dff. I recommend using one from vice/gta3 - they definitely work in gtasa, unlike one you may generate with too many pollys (yes, the birds) or something. I used coleditor to export one from vehicles.dat, which is in either data or models.. forget which folder. Hope that helps... you can also monitor the results/'logs' using that little pink rectangle bit in the bottom corner - when u right click it, it'll show your export results, eg. if there's an error.
