QJimbo
Hi, I was wondering if it's possible to remove the black effect that happens when you dive down too far in water? It seems to be a weird overlay as a one pixel wide slice on the left stays visible. Any ideas? Thanks!
dertyjerzian
That sounds like a glitch on your system. San Andreas does not black out the water
QJimbo
Nope it's not a glitch. Basically try swimming out somewhere, then dive into the water. If you can swim far enough without drowning, you will see that the screen gets darker the further down you swim. This is the overlay I'm referring too. Now when you get to a certain point, it goes completely black, making it impossible to see. It makes using the Water Level customizer tool annoying because you can't experiance a fully emerced city for example. This is why I want to remove it. Hope this clears that up =)

*sasquatch*
Yeah i've seen it too,it's definately not his system!! It's meant to be there i think....as in real life the further you dive under water the less light can penetrate!! Instead of removing it it would be cooler to see some kind of torch or headlamp mod!! Is there a mod that remove's the need to come up for air??
QJimbo
It's not using lighting to do it though, it's definatley an overlay, because even bright lights aren't visible (set the water height really high and look at the towers in SF with the red light, it makes no difference). But yeah looks like I'm gonna have to tackle this one myself....
ThugLord187
i can not say i've seen it, but it really sounds wierd, do you think you could post a pic? then i might be able to help you
QJimbo
It's hard to really show with pictures, so here's a quick video I made. The water level is set to 450 with water customizer tool, so you spawn under the sea (in pitch blackness). I then blindly flew a hydra up and this is the kind of problem you get. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KFhABAKUbQ (should be working soon)
ThugLord187
ah, that is definately not meant to happen in the game so maybe it is and overlay, does this happen without the water adjuster?
QJimbo
Yep, for example, if you warp yourself under the sea under the Golden Gate bridge, there are some really deep spots that can darken the screen a little. It's more the fact I want to be able to expore the underwater city without it being pitch black.

-/TNT\-
This can't be changed I think. If you check the Myriad Islands forums, you'll notice that they had the same problem too. Check the threads there, you might find helpful info.
QJimbo
I've been trying to use memory hacking to pin down floats between 0 and 1 underwater, but not having much luck sadly =(
