Does anyone realise that the graphics of the PS2 version are literally crap? For example, i have to look very hard at my map before i find my safe house cause its way too blur.

Either that or you need glasses. I think the graphics are good, I can see all the details on the radar and stuff sitting as far away from the TV as possible. But the graphics on PS2 are nothing compare to PC though.

Or maybe you have a bad TV. smile.gif

Don't you think in general though, that the SA textures have a sort of 'graininess' to them?

They do a bit, but overall I think the graphics are fine. Sure you have a few bad textures here and there but it still gets the job done. The only problem is that it doesn't load the textures quick enough and I fly my Hydra into a tree. Thats my problem.....

i think the graphics are great (compared to vice city on PS2... confused.gif ) there is a slight difference between PS2 graphics and Computer graphics...

At least to my eye, SF looks *much* more polished than either LS or LV, and that's evidence towards the hypothesis that the textures making up 2/3 the game are unsatisfactory.

Also, LS looks a lot better at night, compared to daytime. During day, the blurriness and the graininess especially of the Ganton, Idlewood, Little Mexico etc. areas are painful to behold.

I find the graphics on PC sort of "blocky". The textures on airplanes and other cars are a bit more flat. on PS2, it was grainy, but more detailed.

Are the graphics on the thinner PS2 supposed to look better? dozingoff.gif maybe it's because the thick one looks older, but I think there was a graphics card improvment from the thick to the thin. tounge.gif

Ontopic: to summarize, PS2 is good for framerate, PC is for a more up-close feeling and barely better graphics. turn.gif

LCD? Of course it looks crap.

Because:

1: I think LCD-tv:s (except the newest ones) have a bad picture in general.

2: SA isn't hi-definition so it has to scale up the picture. Or so I'd believe.

But I'm not sure, I ain't too technical.

The engine used to run all GTAs beginning with GTA3 and up to and including San Andreas is very limited and shows its limits in both the PS2 and PC versions of San An. The textures are low res I assume because the active memory of a PS2 console is limited by modern standards and to be able to render such a large landscape without loading screens would require there to be a premium on info to be used in active memory. The PC port is a hasty job at best when you consider the quality of the graphics. All that the PC version does is let you apply better anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering to the game. There might have been some slight changes for the PC version but nothing comprehensive.

It doesn't look as good as other games but for an aging console San An looks pretty spiffy.

The game looks like it was made with SketchUp, but I'm hardly complaining. It gives the game a more unrealistic feel, and unrealistic means fewer lawsuits. My friend has the PS2 version, and it looks fine to me, albeit slightly less polished than the PC version.

The PS2 graphics seem to be OK considering the limitations of that console, but the PC graphics are a mixed bag. Some of the textures are really good and crisp, others have just been lazily ported from the PS2 - these are blurred and low-res.

If you want a good example of this, go to Fort Carson. There is a street in there full of motels. Notice how some of their textures are good while others are horrible...

Has anyone even considered the "originality" of the ps2 version?.......did you ever take into account the realistic lighting effects?

First of all, the sky color is just alot more vivid than either the xbox or pc versions. It has a certain coloring effect that just, in my opinion, looks alot more gorgeous.

Another factor to consider is the darkness level at night. In case you haven't noticed, it is ALOT darker at night than on the other counsels. It was always too bright, unrealistically, at night. Also, it didn't really even get dark until midnight.

Another factor to consider would be the pavement ( roads ). Idf you've played the xbox version you'll notice how fuzzy and sparkly the road appears as you travel in a vehicle. It is just a mess. However, on the ps2 version it is smooth and fluid, much like the xbox version of vice city.

The sunlight brightness is also alot more realistic on the ps2. sometimes you'll be driving and all of a sudden you're blinded and can't see very well. In REAL life, the same would happen. however, on the xbox the sunlight doesn't do that AT ALL.

Overall, i really feel that the ps2 version is the best. After all, it is the ORIGINAL release and my most memorable as it was the first version i played.

If you take these factors mentioned ABOVE into account, you'll realize that the ps2 is the way to go.

i totally agree with drew i bought san andreas for ps2 first and i was shocked at the reality of the graphics then i though it would be cool to get it for pc to mod it and junk but i was pretty displeased when i figured out they took out those realistic and beautiful sky colors you saw in an early morning back o beyond.
