Ped Number Limit

Hello there,

I am trying to add as much peds in SA as I can and I mean a new peds not re-textured old ones and not replacing existing models I mean adding completely new peds.

I've added two and there was no problem, but when I added a third one the game didn't load and crashed.

I've checked the files and everything is correct, but the game still crashes, so I had to remove it.

Then I replaced an existing ped instead of adding it as new and the game loaded normaly.

I don't mind replacing existing peds, but I prefer adding new ones.

So my question is:

Is there really limit of the peds in SA as I suspect or I am doing something wrong?

yes, there is a limit and you are doing it all fine. i do not remember if screwing around unused slots like 42 ect. virtually increases it, try if you like (i remember i have had like more than 2 extra ones at the same instance). there is a method of bringing more using game script (look at slots 290-299).

btw. how it happens that game crashes? are you messing with definitions for ped/pedgroup ect. or are you creating them by the means of scripted coding?

The game crashes after I try to load my savegame or start a new game.

When the loading screens show up and the load bar starts to fill, but it doesn't fill it stops and... I am out of the game.

And yes I am messing with the definations in peds.ide and pedgrp.dat files.

But that's not the problem when I replaced an existing ped I used the exact same definations and it worked.

I was trying to put them in the slots betwen 264 and 274. The first two were successful so I have now peds in slots 265 and 266, the third one was supposed to be in slot 267, but it didn't work so I replaced the clown in slot 264 since that clown is not used in the game wink.gif

By the way you mentioned about slots 290-299 what models are in those slots I can't find them?

I have the same problem also, but with vehicles not peds confused.gif

Few days ago, I`ve tried to add 2 new cars to SA...

 

If you find a way to add extra objects, please let me know.

What are those 290-299 slots for anyway?

Also the first slots are empty.

There's a ped in slot 7 "male01" and he doesn't spawn anywhere.

Even in the pedgrp.dat file is written:

 

#

# file: pedgrp.dat

# description: contains the list of ped groups for each group type. Each ped

# group should contain 32 ped type names. Please dont use 'male01' in any of the pedgroups

#

Yes, you guessed I've tried to use it and the game crashed of course.

What is it for?

these slots are used thru mission coding and they are not model related- you can assign any model to them thru mission coding.
