pinky
Welllll, since this is kinda turning into a post pic topic, here's my favorite by far... My next fav's would have to be the sound barrier ones, that buildup cloud is just too f*ckin cool! That is nucking futs! Got to be one of the best aircraft pics I have ever seen lol. 92F
I guess you aint seen the Typhoon pic at the Fairford airshow 2 years ago. Was all down to pilot error when performing an inverted loop and the plane was a whisker from hitting the runway. There were actual scorch marks down the runway from his "close encounter". Cant find any pics of it though, sorry. Edit: There seems to be a few pics of BI having a "crash".
Mark
^sum funky plane.....don't know the name Hint in the picture's URL. It's a Dassault Rafale...not a bad aircraft. The Rafale M is pretty kick-ass I say...though really, gimme a Typhoon any day. French's fault for dropping out of the EFA project. @pinky: Exactly, evidence for it there...mind you, I spose other defences can probably destroy an A-12 before they can destroy an F-22A. A stealthier version of the A-12...with more resistant materials...win I'd say. I heard the letdown on the SR-71As speed was the danger of the front windshield breaking apart at any higher speeds+temperatures. Could've gone faster supposedly. Still, funny as f*ck speeds anyway. Reminds me of this: In his book, Sled Driver, SR-71 Blackbird pilot Brian Shul writes: "I'll always remember a certain radio exchange that occurred one day as Walt (my backseater) and I were screaming across Southern California, 13 miles high. We were monitoring various radio transmissions from other aircraft as we entered Los Angeles airspace. Though they didn't really control us, they did monitor our movement across their scope. I heard a Cessna ask for a readout of its groundspeed." "90 knots" Center replied. "Moments later, a Twin Beech required the same." "120 knots," Center answered. "We weren't the only ones proud of our groundspeed that day as almost instantly an F-18 smugly transmitted, 'Ah, Center, Dusty 52 requests groundspeed readout.' "There was a slight pause, then the response, 525 knots on the ground, Dusty". "Another silent pause. As I was thinking to myself how ripe a situation this was, I heard a familiar click of a radio transmission coming from my backseater. It was at that precise moment I realized Walt and I had become a real crew, for we were both thinking in unison." "Center, Aspen 20, you got a groundspeed readout for us?" There was a longer than normal pause.... "Aspen, I show 1,742 knots" "No further inquiries were heard on that frequency" Oh and you think that F-14s a lil low? Achtung Spitfire! Crokey
^this one is a modified airbus A-380 refeulling an aircraft....or a drawing of it anyways..... I would actually call that a two engine A-340 due in part to the exhaust on it, as opposed to a A-330, although, even if it is a drawing, if the plane was getting used for Refuelling purposes, they might alter the exhaust system on it to make it similar to the A-340, to allow the hot exhaust to fire up the way instead of straight out as turbulance and unexpected down-draughting could cause the heat to effect the fuel line. ...too much
BCspeed34
I was always amazed at how secret the government kept it's planes, creating todays most modern jets during the days of propellers. It makes you wonder just how much crazy sh*t is being invented right now. ________________________________________ 専車SODO-MOTO International Vehicle Importers

*gta star*
^I wouldn't have fancied parking them planes up lol ! Great videos guys, watched all of them, enjoyed them. When I was on 'You Tube', I watched some of the related videos and found a good video where you could see the pilots landing the plane, hear them talking and stuff. The plane that they are landing is a 'POV' Here's a link; There's another one about an insane landing as well; ^Very lucky, you can see how much stress is on that back rudder as the plane is turning into the correct bearing for the runway. Oddsock
Gotta love the good old Bf109/Me109. It's my plane of choice for IL2 Sturmovik, I know the G-2 like the back of my hand. Aww boy, I love that game. I'm horrible; I always have unlimited ammo and no stalls/blackouts/redouts, but I do put on vulnerability. Still, it's a lot of fun and has made the Il-2 my favorite aircraft (for World War II, at least). I like ground-pounders like the Il-2 and the A-10; it's so much fun to see them rip up targets. Mark
LOL, almost as bad as my mate who says he's got skill on CFS3 for rocket spamming the enemy lol. However I myself play games like Ace Combat (for lack of a decent combat game on PC as my stick sucks) on Ace mode as then it's actually harder to kill the enemy than it is for them to kill you That's proper fighting. Picolini
Sorry if I'm getting a little offtopic with this guys, but it does involve aeronautics So have you guys seen those personal "jet" packs, more like rocket packs with liquid nitro (i think). They only last like 30 seconds but provide enough thrust to fly quite high and fast. Here's a couple Youtube videos, and a short warning! DO NO read the comments, I repeat DO NOT! Most people who post on there have no damn clue what they are talking about and say stupid sh*t like "must be fake cuz he's hidin face face behind a helmet to protect his identity" - actual comment. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3qP9IWVvT4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UNA_sjlIII Basically this thing is limited by fuel loads, those two good sized tanks in the back only power it for that long. It's a shame as it looks like fun, but it's completely pointless as a means of transportation, and barely any entertainment for it's short lived fuel load. So hows about the SoloTrek springtail (if it's still called that.) I can't seem to find any videos of it. I know they have gotten it to lift like 2 feet off the ground, but it's quite underpowered. The guys on "Myth Busters" tv show (I think they do things poorly, so the results were no surprise) tried to make one and it wouldn't lift with even know pilot. The main problem just seems to be power to weight ratio. We just can't make light enough engines with enough power. They also mentioned (on myth busters) that it's has high vibration and is uncomfortable. Now there is this engine I heard of that Angel Labs is working on, the MYT engine (http://www.angellabsllc.com/) which is supposedly able to produce with out a problem 3,000hp with the engine being about 150 pounds and the size of a friggin coffe can! They USED to have a forum on the site, but it's taken down now. Probably due to so many engineers (not their employees) review data and stating it's just physically not possible, which is sad. There were said to be problems with strength of materials, but most flaws were said to be fixable by the inventor (Raphael). They've only run air tests (pushing compressed air through the engine) to see how it runs and by those tests they have proved what they predicted with calculations that under gasoline (the inventor prefers biodiesel for it's lubricating properties). With the site forum being taken down and lack of updates on progress, as well as no gas powered tests, it's starting to seem as if this engine won't be made. Which is a shame. The predicted size and weight of an engine producing anywhere from 200-500hp was 25lbs and about the size of a liter of pop, if not smaller. Now that's quite a bit of info and seemingly off topic as we should be talking about planes, but I just wanted to see your guys opinions on it. With it, things like the above Solotrek personal VTOL device would be no problem what so ever, and cars would need to be completely redesigned (as there is such little space needed for the engine, and as Raphael said, no need for a convention transmission due to the engines high torque). The impact on aircraft would be amazing as planes could drop their jets for these little buggers (Raphael said he's made designs for engines big enough to power passenger aircraft even). I know it's a bit off topic, but hey, it's still got something to do with it... if you guys want me to take it somewhere else, let me know. silvermanblue
I got a couple of pics to wrap your mind around. The Moeller Skycar. I just wish they would stop pestering the guy and let him test it. Now this one is the Fulton Airphibian. Now take this into consideration. He flew over a hundred thousand miles in it. He built it with no enginering or aviation experiance. Pretty cool if you ask me. Now this one I am un sure about but it appears to be a variation of the fulton. Now this one is an MIT project its a car that turns in to a plane. Awesome! The future doesent seem so far away now does it? SWEETSAPRIK
The Moeller Skycar. I just wish they would stop pestering the guy and let him test it. The Moller Skycar (Volantor) is interesting, but nobody is really stopping him from testing it. The main thing holding it back is the fact that they only have one, and they've put 40 years and like $200 million into it. If the only one in existence crashes, they're f*cked. So every test they do has it attached to a tether, which is only good at testing it's ability to hover a few feet off the ground. The "pestering" he has gotten has to do with him lying about the company being listed on the NYSE, and then collecting $5+ mil for those "stocks." Then there's the fact that the guy/company has been taking deposits for them for awhile, then keeps pushing back the date on anything ever happening with it. Like in 2003 the company's site said it would be certified "No later than December 2006." It's a neat idea, hopefully they'll actually get somewhere with it. If it ever does get anywhere it could tie in nicely with SATS. Assuming they get around to pushing that a bit harder. http://sats.larc.nasa.gov/main.html http://sats.larc.nasa.gov/images.html The aircraft themselves weren't that special, but what it could do to and for commercial/civil aviation is pretty intriguing. Before I ever saw the Skycar I remember seeing some little round blue thing that held one passenger. I remember seeing it tested (while not being tethered from above mind you) and it flew like a hundred yards or so. Obviously wouldn't go as fast as it's engines pointed down, but ti was interesting. Can't remember what it was called though, if I did I'd look for a pic. PяopagaиdaIиc.

Brad
United Airlines are the worst airlines from what my Dad has said. lol, the service is terrible (that was the main issue).
