What is this HDR photography, what kind of kit do you need and is there any good resources on the intrawebby, as I'd like to give that try out sometime

I look forward to it, just that I'll be off to Belize soon, and there are some fantastic Mayan Ruins which are there and more which are being uncovered, so it would be nice to get some really good photos of them. Once I do I'll post them here, f they're any good.
TwoZero
What is this HDR photography, what kind of kit do you need and is there any good resources on the intrawebby, as I'd like to give that try out sometime Easiest way to explain it is with an example: This is a very basic and quick HDR setting, I took 2 shots, the first 2 in the image and used HDR processing to generate the 3rd image. Images from cameras have a low dynamic range, when you see lots of details in the shadow, the source of the light is over exposed (sun/sky in my example), but when you take a picture with nice details in the sky then the detail in the shadows is lost. Easiest way to shoot these images used to generate a HDR one is with exposure bracketing, an option that most (if not all) SLR camera's have, it shoots 3 or more images with different exposure settings quickly after eachother. The more images you take with different exposures, the more detail you can capture. I use Photomatix Pro to generate HDR images, which works pretty straight forward, tutorials are included and everything. Earlier today I ran into this topic on the dpreview forum, it shows some amazing HDR images. Some of those are generated from up to 7 images. Jigga
@ Uni: nice shot. Inspired by Sam Javanrouh Don't Look Back In Anger Taken as the museum attendant was about to inform me I can't take photos inside the museum. Herzog & de Meuron: architecural genius. Taken from inside the Tate Modern, the window made for a perfectly positioned frame. Edited May 12, 2007 by Jigga
Jigga
Nelsorn Mahndila: always getting himself locked behind bars. I hadn't taken many photos in the past month, so today was a good relief. I'm doing an audio slideshow (Guardian style) on the Tate Modern, so stay tuned for that. Thanks for viewing.
Andyzoot
That third to last picture made me think Wally the Whale had returned. Really nice photos, my favourite being the one taken from inside the museum out onto the bridge (Millenium Bridge?)

Wayfarer
Taymaz, I love buildings designed by Herzog & de Meuron. So simple, yet beautiful. They're one of my favorite architects. Incredible pics, Viper! So here's a few pictures from me taken on a today's walk. Enjoy!

Kaj.
I posted a separate topic regarding this, but I figured I should ask here too, since it's the photography topic. I need information on James Fee. If anyone could help me find some biographical information on him, that would be awesome. Oh, and Maddog, please tell me you have more than just a gascap picture of that Audi. Andyzoot
WAIT A MINUTE!!! Hmm I'm not the only one who sees the resemblance am I? Edit: Ok, I'm thinking about getting in on this photography razzmatazz although I don't want to spend huge amounts of money like the £400 SLR cameras I've seen about. What I found while browsing was the Fuji Finepix S5600. It's two years old and can be used like a simple digital camera but it also the options of using it much like an SLR. At the moment it's about £120 from Currys which is about my price range heh and from what I've been reading it's a good little camera for a beginner such as myself and from what I've seen on Flickr, this camera is capable of taking some fantastic shots. Plus I would really like a camera to take with me for my trip to Paris in a few months. I thought I would bring it here first though and see what you experienced folk think of it first... I hope you don't mind, I took that picture which is pretty funky by the way, and I did a little piggery jokery in PSP with it, using clone brushes, lighten/darken, sharpen etc and got this to get rid of the 'Green Halo' It looses the trunk of one of the trees but it looks like the other one has more foliage to cover it up
