(now you do, prolly looked like a blue red and green turd before I described what it was lol)

 

That may be your problem. Somehow maybe your axis were different and when you related the door and door dummy to one another, you may have overwritten the object with the correct setting. Read about gizmo xform controls for your particularmmodeling app. Be more descriptive
