thegreatlordbadger
Hi guys, long time reader, first time poster. I have been reading the tutorial for exporting 3ds models to san andreas: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=223668 I managed to export a couple of models successfully, it looks great in the game and runs perfectly. But anymore new creations that I try to add seem to crash the game on loading?!? The game loads to about 40% then crashes out. The model loads up fine in MED but not in the actual game. I have re-exported the col file numerous time and I have followed the post above exactly. When I create the model (a simple box with a cylinder) I attach the two objects together and then convert to a mesh. I have looked through a lot of the tutorials and posts but can't find any solution, tearing my hair out now as I had it working before! Any clue or has anyone experienced this before? Thanks in advance... Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/267865-problems-exporting-dff-from-3ds-max/ Share on other sites
Mag-got
I can't get anything ingame with Med or Ked, they appear in the program just the way the objects are supposed to but when I start the game it crashes. thegreatlordbadger
Ok, I have had another look and re-created everything over and over again. The problem is not with the ide or ipl reference but has something to do with the model or the col file. I have posted them below if anyone wants to help: col file dff file I have loaded the col file up in the col editor 2 program and that looks fine. The dff appears ok in med so I am at a loss at what to do. I'm not doing anything different to the ones that work and don't understand whats causing it to crash the game on loading. Has anyone else had the same symptoms and did you manage to fix it? Ta! dertyjerzian
no need, your files etc are correct, I am sure. (it seems you have done the proper modding debugging to know for sure) You are adding a fifth or sixth object, no? For more objects, you must strip the game. San Andreas stretched the limits of just about every limit it had. The sCM can barely get larger (though coders have mroe room for expansion than mappers) You cannot add a new car (add not replace, at least not without some work), so can add only 4 objects and a 5th to crash the game (or a 5th and a 6th to crash, been three years since I stumbled upon the limit...) thegreatlordbadger
Yeah thanks for the reply. looks like the game limit is the problem, will just have to wait for a fix to increase the limit. donvito
oh i've got the same problem exactly like you,but ich don't have any solution for that. i tried everything out like viewing the col and dff files in med and col editor...both models (col and dff) are shown perfectly in med,but the game crashes. and i haven't a problem with the limit.it seems to be a problem with the size.i can make a palm, oder something little like that without poroblems ingame, but if i want to put in a house for example it crashes, why? there must be a solution, mustn't it? €:now i find out, the models were too huge,i used a wrong model for scaling Edited April 6, 2007 by donvito Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/267865-problems-exporting-dff-from-3ds-max/#findComment-4150761 Share on other sites
