Aye. Speaking of new axe, I think I might get this tomorrow

DV016_Jpg_Large_1367516483363_A.jpg

Semi-hollow ES-139. Best description: "..a Les Paul-shaped 335 without f-holes". Nitro finish, Burstbucker pickups(I could go into detail on why these kick ass) and some gorgeous wood.

cons: It costs 1521 € :panic: time to bust out the ol' credit card.

That's a bit pricey, but damn, it is beautiful! Great purchase, bro! I'm still on the fence about whether to go to the store tomorrow or not. I just feel so lazy... :/

I don't think I ever posted a close up on the LSR nut on the LP.

I have dubbed it the Fibson Lestocaster lol

Now for some tone chasing...

(Guitar solo starts at around 2:20)

I need to have Robben Ford's tone on this tune. This was released in 1981, I.E. pre-Dumble(he got his in 1983) and therefore feasible to us mere mortals. A guy I know used to see Robben live in the late 70s when he was trying out stuff that would later become "Yellowjackets" material told me that at the time, Robben was using a Gibson 335 on a Yamaha G112. What he used in the studio, though, remains a mystery. I just adore the guitar tone on this album.

The ES-139 has Burstbucker pickups, which are pretty much the same as Classic 57(ES-335, ES-175 etc)'s, though not quite. As production has been modernized, Gibson has managed to standardize the Classic 57 pickups which are built precisely as specified by Seth Lover, who invented humbuckers. This wasn't the case in the 60s and such, as technology didn't allow for consistent production. They tried to, of course, but they simply couldn't make them exactly like they "should" be. The Burstbucker is true to the latter mentioned variety of the PAF pickups, I.E. slightly unbalanced etc. This should make the tone more "classic", and I dare say this sounds rather like Carlton's 335.

My technician agreed with that notion, stating that his 335 was obsolete to this guitar, and that the 335's of today simply do not stand out in sound.

My guy told me it's been hanging there a while and to give him a minute, he was going to make a phone call.

He came back and said if you want to take her home $1,599.

How is the Yngwie Strat? I've never seen or played one.

-

The setup on my new Gibson is, as to be expected now, awful. The neck curves the wrong way but because Gibsons are a bit stupid, I can't really do anything about it. It's practically unplayable, fret buzz all the way up to the 10th.

I'd love to swap the PUs in my Ibanez, but I don't think I have the chops for doing a hollowbody yet.

I meant like actual musical transcript, I can't read or wite it.

Now if I could only find the time to get an actual band together to finish them, I'd be golden lol

I have enough ideas for a whole album.

Edit:

Instarted messing around again lol

So i heard this is the place where i'll find people with awesome guitars and loads of them .. makes me feel

like a peasant who just grabbed a stick with strings on it, nothing at all comparable to what you guys have.

Anyways, So i got a guitar, nothing fancy your regular acoustic guitar for somebody who doesn't know how to play,

i learned a few basics, like the scale and a chord or two some months back, my exams came i stopped and now

i wanna again start (because i got beyond rusty) this time i actually want to learn, so it would be best to start over,

so tips, guides i don't know .. how do you learn to play by yourself guys

Edit : I'm wondering if i'm even in the right place seeing all these electric guitars, is this even the

right place for someone with an acoustic O.o

Of course. Electrics are derived from acoustics, and both my main guitars are hollow. They're tuned identically and the frets/fret scale work in the same way, so there's no difference really ;) Here's the guitar in my signature, as you can see it is pretty much an acoustic with magnetic pickups and an arched top (Archtop guitar) whereas an acoustic like yours is a flat top which relies more on acoustic resonance and the tone thereof, which would therefore commonly use a piezo pickup.

10308165_879534542068826_159440505647965

They're built the same way, including the set neck(glued).

My advice will probably not be what is most suitable for you. Guitar is what I do, much more than a hobby. What I did to boost progress was teach myself piano and theory(such as reading sheet music). It's surprisingly easy, and helps a whole bunch. If neither of those interest you, I suggest learning chord shapes and scales.

Tell me, what is it that you want to do? :) I can help you out with this or any other questions you have. I study guitar as I've mentioned before, and I'll be happy to help if I can. I have 7 acoustic guitars, so don't worry, I'm familiar.

also: It's the player, not the guitar ;) the one in the picture is a guitar I love like a person would love another, but it is still a Chinese-made $300 guitar.

You could learn some easy songs by your favourite artists if there are any, what kind of music do you like?

Poor excuse, I learned on a $20 keyboard. Just say you're not interested in it.

My suggestion is to learn simple bar chords: Major and minor. Start off there.

I've got a Delta King OE30 I've been modifying on and off since I got it. Took out the humbuckers and put in some P90's, swapped out the stock knobs for some LP speed knobs and traded out the stock dot inlay neck for this binded trap inlay neck, I sanded the back of the neck down with a high grit too to give it a fast smooth satin finish.. This things been my go to guitar for about a year now, I've got a decent little 5watt tube amp and a Jekyll & Hyde I run this through and I just love the sound of it. I just can't wait to get some proper recording equipment for all the tunes I've been coming up with.

That trap inlaid fretboard absolutely kicks the dot's ass. Who made it?

I actually got it off Ebay for around $40-50 from some no name distributor. I figured what the hell might as well try it out for that cheap and if I don't like it I'd just swap back the old one, surprisingly the neck was completely straight with leveled frets and all, all I had to do was the drilling and trim the heel down a little bit to fit in the neck slot. The blank headstock was nice too since now I can put on a custom waterslide design sometime in the future.

I'd love to add a bigsby trem to it but not sure if I can justify $100+ for a trem let alone having to drill new holes in the body. I have seen some mounting plates that go into the tailpiece holes for tremolos but that's another $60 or so on top of the bigsby price.

Oh wow, I didn't read it right, I thought you only swapped the fretboard. Impressive. What type of wood is it(the neck itself)?

There are trems which don't require drilling, and there are ones which go right on the stop-bar mounts. I guess you already know this, half the point of a bigsby's the look ;)

If you're into more mods, how about a bound tortoise guard or something? Relatively cheap mod which may further personalize a guitar.
