If I ever get money again...a lasting career change (job?!!) I have this beat up MADE Bich from eBay I wish to send to Mr. Neal Moser out in Cali. Neal's busy reviving what he does best, but he DOES take on guitar refurbs if he can find the time, if not, I'd have Charles Hoffman Guitars do some work here in Minneapolis for me, they did guitar work for the late Earl Root and since he'd played out professionally and gave his Gibson V a beating, I trusted them to do me right.

Here's a pic of the first Bich, sadly I did pawn it and someone else got the axe. I got the AXE in a manner of speaking. Hard thing, pawning good guitars!

found it... This one is still looking as scrappy as the day I bought it, since I tried some white can spray paint on it. I removed the horrid tuners that were on it originally, it did fall down and the headstock broke, CAH guitars patched that up for me!

To add GIBBO is an affectionate term for Gibson, it's no surprise you found a custom HS with it! haha

I know Gibbo is an affectionate name for a Gibson but those pieces of firewood I found called Gibbos were'nt Gibsons with custom HSs at all... They retailed at around £145.00 and came in a whole range of offending models, like the LP copy and the Double Neck SG copy I remember seeing; all for under £200...

I however, I want to do this;

With a guitar I had new binding + cool battery box and the EMG Zakk Wylde set installed way back just before I got my Gibson; I'm going to finish this.

With a kill pot because it has 1 volume and 1 tone, I'm going to make the SH-124 the tone OR... switch around the volume and the tone.

I want to make a guitar sort of funky like Tom Morello's guitars with this Shadow kill pot.

That Les Paul? That's my Epiphone Les Paul I bought in the summer of 2009, broken off eBay sold as spares or repair.

These are the Original Seller's photographs on eBay.

I had the neck fixed, it was broken in two places and the truss rod was bent! - I had that fixed, then I had Seymour Duncan APH-1s (I already had in another LP copy) put into my Epiphone Les Paul; and all new American electronics, to do the Seymour Duncans justice;- 2 new 500k volume pots, 2 new 500k tone pots, new American sized toggle switch, new Gibson input jack... All for the Seymour Duncans; I'm glad I did it. I had the Jim Dunlop Straplock System that I used installed.

It was (before I had my way with it) a 2000 Samick Korea Plant built guitar with the Epiphone badge under license. I did get and have still got the original pickups and scratch plate but... I wasn't ever going to use them; That scrate plate's cream.

(REALLY f*ckING LOUD - WARNING.)

This was me doing that, so, whatever, lol, I have my fun, but, you play, you learn, and now, I'm a bit better. lol

I love this guitar. biggrin.gif

It's likely no one wanted to molest an actual Gibson with a Gibbo custom oddity. There's some history as well regarding Slash's LPs that are actually expertly built replicas. Before he was 'THE' SLASH famous as he is now, though, he was a BC Rich owner, player, collector.

He's obviously kept playing his red BCR Mockingbird, but he's seen in a rare photo playing a blue Warlock.

Looks like you had some pics failed loading or not linked proper

Mr White0161

My heart and soul resides in Gibson. A few years ago before I really got into guitars I had a real '59 LP in my possession, at the time I had no idea what it was or what it was worth. I gave it to a guy for $1500 I later found out how much they go for and how rare it was so of course I wanted to get it back. When I went to find the guy it was destroyed in an apartment fire. I beat myself up for that almost every day. I only ever really started playing about a year ago, before that I was into piano and drums. Then I opened my eyes to pure beauty of guitars and went out and bought myself my LP Studio. I guess this is just my own piece to the previous Epiphone, Gibson, Gibbo discussion.

Oh, the Black Beauty that legend Peter Frampton made famous, however, growing up it was KISS's ACE FREHLEY who made Gibson cool

Not to mention Paul Stanley. I wanted what I thought was the Ibanez Destroyer signature edition, I played on one, in store

This^ Was my first guitar project ever.

I've had this guitar since I was thirteen years old.

I bought it delaperdated in a pawn shop in 2000.

This guitar was stripped of all it's original good parts, and painted brown with 2 of it's orginal pickups, when it should only of had 1, put into a wooden scratch plate...

I thought this guitar looked cool, just in a goofy sort of way back then.

in 2007...

I booked this guitar in to get fixed.

I found out it was an old Framus Hollywood, built in the 1960s, in Germany.

I had new frets, binding, and new Gotoh machine heads installed.

A year later, in 2008, I decided to have this guitar finished.

I decided to have a brand new wooden scratch plate made for this guitar, (the first wooden scratch plate my guitar guy has built for any guitar) because, I've always known this guitar to have a wooden scratch plate. A new chunk of wood was put in underneath the scratch plate, to hold the new Schaller bridge the guy put on, which compliments it's original trapieze piece quite nicely.

I decided to have 1 master vol and 2 tone 500k pots with a 3 way selector switch all because I wanted to keep the same knobs that was on the guitar when I first got it.

I always had an idea of what it could look like/should look like one day.

I always wanted it to look more like a Les Paul, because it was shaped like one.

I bought my 1st ever set of pickups in 2008 for this guitar.

I wanted to have the same pickups as Slash, I heard he used Seymour Duncans, I just didn't have a clue then on what ones and how any of that stuff worked.

So I got the APH-1 set, from Seymour Duncan, asked my guitar guy to put it into my Framus, said I wanted the scratch plate to remain wooden, and because I'm me, my guitar guy put on a Top Hat style head to the selctor switch too, which was just a great touch... This is what I've got.

Also, I was just happy to finally get this guitar a set of the Jim Dunlop straplock buttons for this guitar, tbh, I done that in 2007 and I got my first Jim Dunlop straplock buttons in 2003.

Knobs that were on the guitar when I purchased it. 1 master volume pot and 2 x tone pots.

My guitar guy knew I was a fan of Slash and because of that. put a cool top hat selector switch from some sort of Telecaster which complimented the guitar very well.

user posted image

New wood added to this hollowbody just under the new Schaller bridge to anchor it to the guitar and original Framus Hollywood tailpiece.

An owner before took all the original parts, like scrtach plate, switches, truss rod cover... and painted it brown (this guitar used to be gold, it's orginal colour can still be seen today in full under input plate.

'Silent first fret.'

This is the replacement truss rod cover I sourced myself from the factory's online shop, it's for a new Framus Hollywood built today but I like it on my old one. Before, an owner before me (probably the one who did all this to this guitar.) cut a bit of an old tobacco tin and fashioned that into shape and reversed it from the logo/painted size and that was the guitars truss rod cover, for the longest time, I've still got it somewhere. lol.gif

This is my latest guitar, I picked it up today.

I got this guitar in 2009, didn't do anything with it until 2011 and finally had the last piece i wanted installed this week.

This guitar is: FINISHED.

I think I might buy champagne or something to celebrate, it's one of those days.

New video to go along with my new guitar, I recorded this today.

Here it is, at last, my Columbus.

I've seen some odd Gibsons and what not over the years, but something about the BCR Rich Bich that Neal Moser came up with for me, it takes the cake in guitar design. It's like the Lamborghini Countach of guitars from my taste standpoint

I booked 3 guitars in last week, 2 Columbuses and a my Gibson.

I should have politely said

"no."

I was offered to have the strings lowered on my Gisbson when the neck was oiled and the the guitar was restrung... I hated it... It was great, but, not for me... I understood afterwards what he meant by 'making it faster and like Slash'... NO.

In hindsight, I really should have said;

'No thank you, I like it action how as is, all I need is new strings because these ones are old, I play this guitar a lot." smile.gif

But instead I said

'Chea', alright, sure, whatever" smile.gif

*In my defense, I had been up all night before that.

But that's what happened... Great set up, but, I came in too soon for my own liking so...I fiddled.

It's great *Bites teeth to false smile.*

I feel SO MUCH like a poineer with this Gibson Custom Les Paul Stanadrad...

I took a bottle opener that fit the tailpiece, and used that to turn that, I stopped doing that though and sort of put it back bad put that down; because I sort of scorthed the screw on the tail piece with it, I HOPE NO ONE NOTICES. - That would p*ss me off. tounge.gif But the damage is minor... and I've been making the bridge higher and lower with some success but never perfection and spots of me worried about playing it and yet playing it because it's a Gibson and built well and it does feel like I can give it hell (Even though I don't want to.) and it'll still bounce back.

Yeah; I'm worried, I want to raise the dough and take it in and explain sort of what happened.

OR..... I want to continue to get to know this Gibson on a more personal level and try and figure out how to fix it myself. - I'm scared though, or reverted back to my awkward puberty days of when I used to break stuff and ruin stuff by trying to be creative and stuff... So I don't want to ruin this guitar, I will, if anything happens, book it in to get fixed.

booked?

I was at the Pawn America the other day, a REALLY nicely decorated Ibanez full body acoustic was in there for $200 or so dollars, It looked VERY classy, considering I prefer thin body electrics, I'd buy it!

Blonde finish with all manner of decorative binding, flourishes

True. You ever do any Midi guitar work? I was going to try and hook my guitar to my computer, but I never got the combo of software and hardware to do it.

This Audigy2 card I found the other day actually compliments a whole host of features, and if I can get the needed software, I'm planning to try and get them all exploited <G>

It covers 6 channel Dolby EX, EAD mode EAX, whatever that Creative sound mode is for games, HD, DVD Audio and a multi surround mixer, Tonefont or something, meant for MIDI application. Mainly you can add sample or make samples to play on a keyboard, which could be guitar notes or percussion, etc

Who me?

Midi Guuitar, no.

Although, I do remember seeing a broken one on eBay for spairs and repair that I left alone when I last looked because, it's a midi guitar and, I don't know what I could do with it; I saw some guy on YouTube with a Midi Guitar and, it was just like a synth, but with strings instead of keys and... I decided it wasn't worth it even if I did have it fixed, so I let it be.

Well, anyone....really MIDI can work with guitar and keyboard, I'd like to see Windows 8 using the PIANO APP to do such things, I think it can or should. Works like a Player Piano and somewhat limited for the Developer Preview

I got some new VH going on here, Brand new uploads in celebration of the final album and tour, after SO LONG

Van Halen is like a God to me, despite anything I read or heard, nothing beats that Brown Sound for some reason

the spec on my pc and the budget for my pc are both low I'm afraid...

But... that being said, I heard about a microphone and PA box down at the PC and electronics shop that I could afford, but I wonder maybe, to buy high end audio for mics, to sound better... Better Equipment = Better Sound... like... A micro phone with the quailty of a CD, so, like a really expense recording studio microhone you find in sound booths, I want something like that live so it don't really matter what I sound like, but, I am a man with dreams, and tbh, midi guitars aren't in mine because quite simply, I don't know them. lol.gif, I know, I suck, but, them's the breaks, for now atleast, who knows what tomorrow will bring.

I want to sell some of my guitars, and I have paypal, but ebay charges... so...

What do I do? (Because, tbh, I WANT RETAIL, I want my money back on these guitars, I want to keep like 4, but that's it; maybe 5.

So, so happy with the new YouTube offerings, seems more rights changes at YT for the time being are allowing some former uploads to exist, I doubt it can continue, so enjoy it while you can. While out on the move and work, my guitar is in storage, I had a battery amp SOMEWHERE and with that, I could have my guitar in tow, perhaps, but it's just me and my Xbox, PS3, and computers at the moment. Air guitar has to suffice.

Craigslist is my alternative to eBay, they offer free listings if you ask for a real auction, bidding around a dollar to start, I believe

BIN and asking a high price off the bat, they charge for, I believe

As for affordable MIDI, you should be able to get a Break Out box for PC, or input from EFX like The Pod, which I used to have. Tom Sholtz of Boston did some work after Rockman, so I believe he's got something perfect for recording that's small

hmmmm...

I wonder... who to sell my guitars to and how to sell it to them... and stuff.

(which is like this fantasys of me sinking more money into hiring a hall and dressing it up a bit

and advertising with a budget that I'd hope to make back on top of the guitars and go all out

with the prices and the champagne . - fantasys of how to sell my gear.)

hmmm...

tbh, I'm too much into these guitars to ever get the price I want.

(I've sunk a lot of money into these guitars and unless putting 'As seen on YouTube'

into my add title, and; having that mean something, unless I have that 'which I don't',

I really don't want to loose money even though I know I will.)

How to sell these guitars?

I want to A.

Make a profit

(Way hard.)

B.

Use the profit to invest into future guitar projects.

C.

Sell future guitar projects and set up shop.

Any help and advise on selling like that? smile.gifbiggrin.gif

eBay really is the best place, but I listed my own Warlock there, it didn't sell over a two week period, but still, I'd list it again, it's worth the viewing audience eBay affords, but it can be easily hit or miss depending on when you list it.

As you mentioned "Seen on YouTube", people use YT expressly to show an item for sale, and I will stumble upon it to make comments as others do about their own experience, like a visual version of ePinions Dot Com

Unless you have a rare model or some special Gibson's you more than likely will never get yur initial investment back (remember no one pays retail) no matter what you do unless like I stated above. Best idea like Slamman said Craigslist.

Well, Should add, a guy I met on the BCR Handmades site offered to buy my BCR Ironbird, even trade a USA handmade Warlock for it, but I declined, I'm thinking it's best to hold onto the original neck-thru Ironbird, even if it is an NJ series! I've yet to get it up and going the way I have planned, which is to jettison the Kahler Flyer for a Pro trem, then it will be SET TO ROCK!

It's an example of another line of possibility thanks to the InterWebs. Get chatting with guitar fans and collectors all over the web, use MySpace and Facebook social Networking or noted musical forums, of where there are a number of good ones! monocle.gificon14.gif

Another BCR player to admire, Craig Chiquico of Starship and JS fame, been making new age guitar jazz for a few years, and this footage is up rather new, full show featuring his playing, Worth posting

My IB is identical to this one, plan to use a black Kahler bridge to replace it.

Read that Peter Frampton's Black Beauty was returned to him....for an undisclosed cost... but Gibson are doing some restoration on it so he can play it again on stage this year, anniversary tour I read

Mr White0161

Well I did my first restoration the other day. I was given this old piece of sh*t acoustic guitar that's gotta be about 60yrs old. The back was falling off, the neck was hanging off of it and it was pretty much black from dust build up. Not to mention the wood being warped from being in a cold damp space for the past 20years. I cleaned it all up, reattached the neck and back, put new strings on it. Fixed the tuning heads and looks good as new.

My uncle gave me his old beat up '59 Fender P bass, I'm thinking of restoring it to it's former glory. The neck is really warped and the bridge is really messed up. I think i'm going to buy a new neck for it but does anybody know where i can get a good 50's P bass decal for the replacement neck? Are buying decals illegal even? I just can't stand seeing the headstock with nothing on it and to buy an actual 50's neck costs a fortune.

Never used Boss, so, nope

I bought a used Arion pedal, the METAL PEDAL I think, Distortion, the usual, not very impressive or useful, the 9 volt battery connector broke too! I think I still have it

Anyway, found this clip in regard to xUFO, and it's an interview with Lawrence Archer, however, the interviewee doesn't seem to know the UFO legacy, which is embarrassing I feel!

A Beatles tribute from him, more removed from the UFO hard rock, or is it??

King Mystery

I have a 1960something (probably around '63) natural finish Fender Telecaster, a blue acoustic-electric Dean Exotica FM, and a green Dean Custom Zone. Way brighter in real life.

That sir, is badass.

Damn straight. Dean is pretty much my go-to place for cheap yet sexy string instruments.

Anyways, I've been teaching myself bass songs, but I don't actually have a bass yet. So, help me out here.

These two basses are pretty much identical other than a few minor differences (color, pickups, knobs, etc). However, I can't quite decide which one to get.
