My 80s Gibson V was modified (by me) to have chrome pickup covers, and it was black with white accents, very SCHENKER like!

I believe it was a 1988 model, but not sure why, other then hard to read serial to go by (so much paint used on those gits!!

Like the above only black with no binding appearance to the neck. Had the smaller GENUINE control knobs, so I think that's also a giveaway to the origin, mine was sold for only $250 maybe? Most I paid for a guitar was around $500 so I always get some good deals on them.

As for tuning up a tremolo guitar, block the bridge underneath, make it flush or flat to the guitar body, then set all the strings, using a peg head winder, which is soooooooooo much faster

I just bought the Strat last week, I'm waiting on the new pickups, I ordered an EMG DG20 pre wired set for it. I wanted something based around Davids "Red Strat" but with a few modern touches I really like ( Locking tuners, Contoured neck joint, Deluxe bridge and Black abalone inlays)

Ahh, i had forgotten i posted here. I ended up getting this guitar, except according to them, their shipment was damaged and asked if i wanted another color. I ended up getting a red one, VERY f*cking similar to the 2nd picture yngwierocks just posted.

I'll post pictures when i can!

I'm thinking of getting a BC Rich guitar (not now since I have just started learning guitar and have a cheap Squier), specifically this Kerry King signature one for £250. Can anyone with experience tell me whether this will any good for playing metal songs, or just good overall? I'm also thinking of getting this ESP guitar (since I've heard they have good pickups), because it looks bloody awesome. Is it worth the extra money?

Here's a fun question for all the players out there... what was the first song you ever played on the guitar start to finish?

...When I first started playing I learned two at the same time, and got them down around the same time.

I learned on Violin first, and I never play songs completely, I'm not that good! hahaha Mary had a Little Lamb probably was the first, one of the early standards, now needs updating to Stevie Ray Vaughn standards

Stevie Ray Vaughn, eh? I like it. I aspire to play like Jimmy Page (well attempt but not come even close), songs from Zepp I can play are Kashmir and Rain Song, other than that nothing much more. I play alot of blues to be quite honest, even though I'm all about the classic rock cool.gif The blues is just fun to play.

Arrggghh, I've put some different strings on my LP. 9 Gauge to be exact, my 6th string (low-E) keeps fretting out on me. I've raised the bridge and all that but it still keeps fretting out on me. I've been f*cking around with this on and off for about 2weeks. However I think I'm damn near close to having it perfect.

I have a minor inconvenience, I love to play side however I am tired of tuning my guitar from standard tuning to either an open-E tuning or a open-A tuning. Also enjoy playing with DADGAD tuning but also gets annoying tuning it back n' forth, anyone have any ideas of a decent guitar I could possibly think about purchasing to solve this predicament I seem to be in...?

Buying more similar guitars would probably be your best bet.. or a multineck guitar! And last but not least, for the fun of posting I assume (you might be rich.. who knows)

TransPerformance is what Jimmy Page and other notables use on their Les Pauls, and they finally made TP tremolos for other guitars, beyond the Stratocaster. I was impressed with it, so I contacted

them about making a Transperformance for BC Rich, however, they told me it was too complicated to make in kit form for user installs.

Mr White, about that Low E, have your nut professionally looked at, then have your guitar examined! hahaha

Actually, the nut holes or cavities that hold your strings do wear down, they can beef the same tired nut back up for you! I did.

Sadly I must admit I do have a fair bit of money in my disposal, I've been thinking about possibly getting a Gibson double-neck or also a Jimmy Page "Number Two". But I think a guitar that tunes itself takes some of the fun away lol.gif If anything I'll probably see myself picking up another LP cool.gif Or maybe getting a Gresch hallow-body...

EDIT:

@Slamman- Appreciate the advice but I f*cked around with it a bit and I have fixed my little problem.

I've seen myself playing a lot of blues lately. Blues guitar has always amazed me because of how clean it is and some of those smooth licks.

Check this out and you'll know what I mean:

Nice setup. All I got is a Digitech RP-250. It's not bad, has a lot of things you can do on it and what not. Can make your own custom settings that can be saved, also has a play back feature.

Also today I bought a violin bow which I'm going to start mucking around with on my guitar biggrin.gif

I have a bit of an issue with the distortion on my amp/guitar. The guitar I have is a Squier Fender Bullet Strat that only cost me £100 (I've been playing for two months and I'm 14, so forgive the cheapness) and a Line 6 Spider IV 15 watt. The distortion just sounds all mushy and it's almost hard to pick out the notes I'm playing, basically, it's not very good. Now I would like to know if it's the guitar or the amp, because my guitar only has one humbucker and two other ordinary pickups. Or is it the low wattage of the amp? I've heard Line 6 and Squier are reputable brands so I couldn't imagine there being any faults with the equipment I have. Is the guitar or the amp (or both) the problem here?

I'm not a pro, but it sounds like there's too much gain or distortion, or both, going on... But if that's not the case, then the sounds on your amp may just be crappy (= get a pedal) or then there's something wrong as in broken, and if that's the case I'm not much of help...

The high E string on my Epiphone snapped today, I'm frustrated because now I'm going to have to change all of the strings and live with them going off-tune the moment I look away... Anywho, I could say it was about time as the strings were almost a year old already.

Personally I don't like Fender. The feel, the look, along with the natural treble they produce. However people seem to like them.

I have a 30watt Line 6 amp as well (I don't use it because I also have a 100watt Marshal). Line 6 are decent amps but you need a pedal for them. When they are just by themselves they tend to sound like crap or "mushy" as you put it. A good decent pedal that I picked up some time ago and I absolutely love is my DigiTech RP250. I paid about $300 for it, but it was totally worth it back when I only had the Line 6 amp. I highly recommend this pedal or one like it because it will fix all the problems you are having. It has many presets on it along with the ability to make your own for whatever style of music you play. Quite honestly I think it's the amp that's your problem. Pick up a pedal like I suggested and I'm almost positive that your "mushy" problem with distortion will go away icon14.gif
