Nice find. I'll try it when I can get Audacity to work, every time I download it it's gone when I start up my computer the next day.

Ordered rockerverb 50 and a 212 cab two days ago after testing them elsewhere. Sound better than marshalls imo. Too bad the shop didn't have the cab in stock even tough they said they had. So going to wait for an month. Sucks not having an amp.

Well, Howdy Hi Guitar Topic, a quick update on my front, sorry for not updating you guys for a while. I've been so busy, im due to start college this september, I'm studying for a BTEC in Music Production/Practice, but because I'm home tutored, I haven't taken my GCSEs yet. So I've taken my assessment and the results have come back very favourable smile.gif

Thanks for the get well soons in the PM's about my fingers. Went back to the doctors a week ago and they where wrong, no breaks, just f*cked, so they are almost okay now, just some cuts and slices. It's healed up pretty well now smile.gif

user posted image

Sorry for the gash pic, my cam' wouldn't focus on the cuts on my hand.

I just keep buying guitars! I bought a Vintage Axxe Razer. Very nice guitar, very, very light. It's made of Eastern Poplar. A little cosmetically battered. £39.99. Gear4music.com is still selling them for £209.99. I also bought a Boss Blues Driver BD-2, I mean, I dont play blues, but its great just to push my (already high gain Crate GLX 212) just a lil' bit heavyer. Is it just me, but when you play through a high gain amp on max gain for long enough, you get kinda numb to the sound and you want more gain? Well, if you do, buy this pedal, crank the amp gain up, and then engage the pedal and alter the gain on that smile.gif

Anyway, thanks, Ill be stickin' round here for a while now that I have College sorted out smile.gif

Good to hear the fingers aren't broken man. That's a ridiculously good deal on the guitar, a friend of mine bought one a while back for a few hundred bucks. It plays pretty nice.

Oh and I know exactly what you mean about playing with high gain for a while and needing a little boost. Just wait until the little boost isn't enough lol.gif

Oh, BTW fellow shred heads. The Kramer Focus project is kinda on hold, so, for now I'm just blocking up the Wilkinson Trem with slithers of wood to increase sustain and tuning stability. Oh, and I'm also installing a Seymore Duncan Distortion in the bridge. I have too much on my plate with College to be worrying about modding guitars. Ill be posting pictures of my guitars and my beloved Crate amp very soon.

Got the MKII instead of the original rockerverb for some reason. Maybe they felt sorry for not having the 212 like they said they had. So I'll have to wait until they get the cab.

Nice, man. Vintage makes some good (and inexpensive) Gibson copies from what I hear, though I had my eye on a Hagstrom Swede (lp copy) with some nice hag 65 pickups before I found my lp studio.

I'm in the process of moving from my digitec board to some individual effects pedals. Don't get me wrong, this thing's sweet and I can pull a nice sound out of it, but it still sounds too synthesized, and isn't really my amp's tone that's coming through (I've got a great fender twin reverb), plus all the footswitch settings tend to make it difficult to use it live - which my band's finally going to start doing. So my first purchase was the big muff. When I got it, I figured I could use it in conjunction with my boss bass overdrive to get the fuzz and sustain of the muff and the gain from the overdrive - which I've been able to do, but I'm still looking for something...bigger. Instead of the overdrive, would you guys have any suggestions for distortion or overdrive?

Well Moonshield, This totally depends on what sort of music your band will be playing? I'm not familiar with Twin Reverbs, Do they have a OverDrive Channel? Because if not, when you run a distortion pedal from Guitar----Pedal-----Clean Tone, the distorted tone always seems to have something missing, like, not enough low end, or something, I dont know what it is. My advice would be, if you don't have a OverDrive channel on the FTR then buy one of those nice Blackstar Distortion Pedals that have a valve in them, they sound sh*t hawt.

However, if the FTR has a OD channel buy what i use, a Boss Blues BluesDriver BD-2. It's not a particularly cheap pedal but you get what you pay for.

Set the gain on the FTR to about 11-1-2 o'clock and set the other EQ's to get a nice rock crunch sound, nothing heavy. now engage the pedal set the Level dial to 12 o'clock the Gain to 12-1 o'clock and the Tone to 1 o'clock. This will give you a very nice heavy rock sound, and you can raise the Gain and Level even more for heavyer tones.

If I read you right your complaint is that Digitec sounds too.. well, um digital. So try analog peddles.

If your looking for mean Distortion You need go no farther than MXR's Fullbore Metal. With every knob turned all

the way down it will easily rip apart the Boss DS-2 tubo distortion. Plus it has a mid scoop and a really cool noise gate.

Read up on it, it's not your typical distortion peddle. It's so powerful you have to play with it or it will sound terrible.

Definitely not a turn all the knobs up and go peddle.

If your a tube guy, Blackstar makes an expensive tube driven peddle - not very versatile.. would be best used to give a

SS amp a realistic tube feel imo.

And then there's Line 6's Uber Metal - neat little peddle.

And of course Boss's Metal Zone - whored out! Modded ones are pretty cool though.

One called Zombie is also worth a mention but cant recall who makes it.

Ive also played or owned other distortion peddles like Coffin Case, MXR Dime, SD Mayhem,

Death Metal Peddle, Metal Muff and Distortus Maximus...

The Fullbore crushes all imo. Harder rock to Deicide & anything in between, You could ruin your amp with

Fullbore if you wanted too. Go fiddle with one!

The Boss DS-1 and DS-2 turbo can make some pretty nice sounding distortion. I'm really liking the sound of the Ibanez Jemini distortion too here's a demo of it:

Yeah sofa, I've been thinking about a tube overdrive, since my muff would give it the fuzz and sustain, and I'm just trying to find something to give it a weightier tone and some more gainy crunch (the twin reverb's got tubes all around and has a great clean tone). The other guitarist in my band's got an ibanez ts9 he uses in conjunction with his big muff and sometimes (but rarely) his mesa combo od channel. I guess distortion's the wrong word here, though.

And DV, my amp's got two channels, clean and reverb/trem (which I'm usually using).

It's not that rhyn, I admire his music and his skill a lot. But he doesn't help himself with the whole "Suck my cock I'm Steve Vai!" thing. Sometimes it doesnt seem like he's taking the piss. He genuinely thinks he's the God Of Guitar players.

Ah I don't think he's being genuine. He's a showman, it doesn't bother me.

@sofa_king: That's pretty funny that they left that in the video, he missed the bar twice.

Well then the tube screamer by Ibanez & a plain old Boss SD1 comes to mind. (I use SD-1)

As you know there are a lot of gimmicks out there all claiming to be innovative.

The Boss DS1 has probably been on over 25,000 albums, and that's probably conservative.

Idk if you knew, but Boss #'s there generations right on there peddles, SD-1. They

truly did get it right the 1st time. Also the SD1 can add a nice little amount of gain to your

overall sound, I like mine and for $50, hell you cant beat it. Should push that nice fender beautifully.

Sweet man, I'll check it out. My buddy's an asst. sales manager at Guitar Center, so I can get stuff at cost through him. I was flying through youtube looking at some tube overdrives and some other pedals, and stumbled upon Effectrode's Tube Drive - that thing sounds f*cking hot, but I'm sure it's out of my budget.

Ahh sh*t man, you got it made.

But yea, pretty much any overdrive will sound really f*ckin good on your particular amp.

That's the thing to consider, most of those demos are done with $2500+ les pauls and $2000+

amp heads. But since you got a great amp your pretty much good to go.

Btw, what's your band playing? I imagine your playing some hardcore badass sh*t, in which case

you may spend yourself into oblivion chasing a sound your amp may not be physically be able to produce.

Been down that road...

Even though I'm a solid state guy, It's just a classic amp. In my experience the more

versatile the better though, that's why I'm all up on line 6's wang for the moment. biggrin.gif

Yeah. that Line-6 looks hawt man. How old is it? A lot of people hate solid state amps, they say that there is no such thing as a good solid state distortion. I love the distortion that comes out of my Crate GLX smile.gif
