Scarface187 222
Same drill as the last topic since it got closed down for being too large of a topic. Let me start the topic off by asking everyone who their favorite guitarists are. Other than that the usual. What gear do you have? What gear do you want? Pictures? Recommendations? Advice? Anything involving this wonderful instrument. Favorite guitarists: Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden) Dave Murray (Iron Maiden) Alex Lifeson (Rush) Kirk Hammett (Metallica) Chuck Schuldiner (Death) Buckethead Andre Olbrich (Blind Guardian) As for gear I have a black ESP Ltd. EC-1000. For an amp I have a sh*tty Kustom one. Anyone know what good amps I could get for around $500? Edited February 21, 2007 by Scarface187

Moonshield 9,926
Skip marshall and check out Engl if you want some nice tone. They're hella expensive though, so look for one used. Haha.

Jack_Knife 1
My favourite guitarists are probably Frusciante, Omar Rodriguez and Hendrix. Gilmour, Jack White, Jimmy Page and James Hetfield are all up there too. As far as gear goes, I have a Maton acoustic from the '80's, a 100w Fender bass amp and Musicman SUB passive 4-string (it sounds surprisingly good for being half the price of a real Stingray).
lesfleanut 4
Skip marshall and check out Engl if you want some nice tone. They're hella expensive though, so look for one used. Haha. I've been digging on Hughes and Kettner lately, they makes some pretty nasty amps. I've always hated Marshall tone anyways.
Lost-Fender 0
Favourite Guitarists: Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) Michael Angelo Batio Slash (Guns N' Roses, Velvet Revolver (current)) John Petrucci (Dream Theater) and of course, Jimi Hendrix My Axe: Epiphone Les Paul Special II w/ modified nut. I'm planning on changing its pickups for BustBuckers 1 & 2. I also want to replace the strings with Gibson Vintage Strings .10. Any help on this? I'm also making a personal strap. Recently I have been looking for a new strap, so I'm going to take a cheap strap, and put in patches, pins, strickers, little figures, etc. It'll be pretty much a DIY scene strap-kind of thing. And something I really want (and need): a decent amp. Mine is *still* damaged, and I'm praticing with this Marshall MS-2C amp. Could you recommend me a not-very-expensive and small amp of good sound quality?

darthYENIK 8,858
Hendrix, is by far my favorite. He's just got a style many try to recreate, but none are fully successful. John Frusciante is second. It's funny, he started out trying to be like Hillel Slovak, but took it to the next level, and then much further.

No Escape? 1
Fave guitarist is Hendrix. Just an unbeatable style. My equipment is alright, considering I don't spend a lot on guitar accessories and such. I got an ESP guitar, M-400. It plays just fine. I guess I don't put much importance on guitar brand or the company it comes from. I just play guitar to myself, so sound doesn't really matter if it's a bit off as long as its good enough to play to. fox09 0
Bought it for $1100 CAN. Plays beautifully. EMG's, Floyd Rose(-like) tremelo, kickass sword in-lay, and a thingy above the nut that looks like the Pick of Destiny.

Smith990 0
My favorite guitarists are James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett from MetallicA and of course Ritchie Blackmore. I've got more but exactly they made me to play by the guitar. Now I've been tryin to get some people to my band to play my favorite American heavy metal style (like MetallicA). I've got some recorded stuff and lyrics. I've got Epiphone Fat 210 (like fender strat.) guitar (not good but better than nothing). And I've already posted pic of it in the old Guitar topic here. Now I wanna buy a guitar like Explorer or smth like that. Edited February 25, 2007 by Smith990

Werleman1 0
My Guitars I got the prudencio jaez acoustic guitar from my aunt but it had no strings so i had to buy some d'addario nylon strings for it. And i got a Squier Stratocaster kit. Now i'm aiming for an Ovation Celebrity Deluxe electro acoustic guitar, but i don't know if i will be getting one anytime soon. Link And my favorite guitarists are: Herman Li Sam Totman Buckethead Pat Smear Kirk Hammet Joe Perry Kurt Cobain Jimi Hendrix I got to give it up to the last 3 because they are left handed and so am I even though Joe Perry plays guitar right handed. I feel bad because i started learning right handed and now that i have experience in guitar i can't go left handed anymore because it feels strange.
Lost-Fender 0
Hey everyone, I need some tips on buying gear. I've been thinking on changing the pickups of my guitar. I need some tips, I need two humbuckers of good quality at a price of no more than £50 ($100). Also, I'm looking for a new amplifier. The same thing, a good amplifier, not big, and a good price. Anyone recommend me an amp/pickup? Thanks in advance guys!

Anyone recommend me an amp/pickup? Thanks in advance guys! Is that per pick-up or cumulatively? But to be honest, I'd think you'll be better off saving up a bit more, you can get a set of Seymour Duncans for around £70 per pick-up. There's not much point getting a pair of cheap pickups that aren't much better than the stock.

No Escape? 1
Nice, lesfleanut. I was thinking of renting a bass in the spring, and maybe taking lessons...I figure I may as well try it, see how I like it in comparison to standard guitar. Would there be a steep learning curve when switching from guitar to bass?

fox09 0
My bass. <3 That's my bass. It's probably the biggest piece of crap ever, but I love it. I took out the stock pickups, and put in some EMG's. I also had to get new volume knobs. But one of them keeps falling off, so I just leave it off. It also has some weird weight issues. It seems to be neck-heavy, so playing it is severly different than anything else. Nevertheless, this is bass I started on (Bought it off eBay for $250), and it's grown on me. A lot. Canoxa 369
Bass is harder than I expected. Dunno if it was because the bass was too low for me and I didn't adjust the strap for those three minutes, or the strings, but they're pretty hard to press down with only one finger.
