Lord 342
I've just got a brief and hopefully easy to answer question regarding mod cars in VC... is it possible to have too many? The other day I'm playing and I finish up a mission and head back to the car dealership to save. The glass was not appearing propperly and the garage doors where behaving strangly -not opening for me right away, all of them opening at once regardless of where I was standing or if I was driving or not or if there were two cars in them already, etc. Eventually I got my car into the garage and tried to walk back to my save icon. The game locked up oddly, the radar was spinning around, I couldn't move, though I could change weapons and get to the menu. I was reluctant to quit as I wanted to save (having just done a mission) but when I tried to zoom in with a sniper rifle, the screen went black and the game crashed hard. I re-started my computer (I didn't have to, I just did) and this didn't happen again. I have nothing more than car mods and what is associated with them -dMagic's wheel mod and obviously different handling.cfg, default.ide and carcols.dat lines for them, but that's it in terms of mods. Nothing out of the ordinary or even Mp3 files at all. This only happened once, but today it hung the system bad (had to restart!), but it's only done it that way this once in about three years of having modded cars and it crashing for the first year or so, just locking up w/sound playing. I could close it. Re-installing fixed this, and it's never crashed like that since. So have I just put too many cars in? Or is this just some random thing? System is a Dell P4 3.00 GhZ 1 GB ram Radeon X300 video board w/ 256mb Windows XP SP2 Executable set to 98 compatability.
