Jaywire
I'm sure the staff remember MANY times this has been suggested. But, I've had many years of experience in the "forum marketplace" scene, so I have some personal experience and insight for you to consider. From what I read, the main problem GTAF has with the system, is theres no way to guarentee the person on the other end is 'reliable'. First thing, make it CLEAR that GTAF is NOT responsible or liable for any frauds or rip-offs, its completely your own risk. Also, impose an 'age' limit, you must be registered for at least a year with at least 750 posts or something. Would help stop ALOT of fraudsters and scammers who troll Buy/Sell/Trade forums. But, theres a little thing called Heatware. Heatware is basically personal feedback for Buy/Sell/Trade forums. It's for real, I have one and have had one for 2 years. This would be a personal requirement of sellers or whatever. The last thing is PayPal. Paypal has a Verified feature, meaning the person has a bank account/credit card/debit card on file. Then, theres the verified transfers they've completed successfully without any trouble, a number that shows up next to there name when you send them money. All in all, there are plenty of safety's in the system when Buying/Selling/Trading on forums. With some simple rules imposed by staff and a small dedicated team to help squash trolls, update rules and take care of small problems, it's a very safe system. But it's mainly in the communities hand. Which is why a certain limit, mentioned above, would have to be in place. In all, think about it. Theres nothing really 'safe' about eBay. Many people get burned on eBay every day, and nothing happens, they are screwed. I think this should be a serious consideration, and I'm absolutely sure our staff would be capable of organizing this. It would boost activity, too, hich i think is something GTAF could use :-) Any questions, comments, please reply.
