tvman20002000
I'm planning on getting Mafia for PS2, it seems real good from gameplay footage, I'm a big fan of oldschool prohibtion mobsters, is it any good? How hard is it? Is there a better game of Mobsters besides Godfather?
Bartleby
The PS2 port of Mafia is really terrible, according to a few links. I remember playing the PC version and enjoying the storyline though, so I'd suggest getting the computer version instead of the console. Also, I say try to play it through without using any walkthroughs, because sometimes (at least for me), you will get stuck and not really know what to do. It's not a game like GTA, that sort of holds your hand throughout it all.
Greene
I've had both the PS2 and the PC Version of Mafia. Like Bartleby said, the PS2 port was nothing short of a disaster but the original PC version is a solid game. The gameplay can be frustrating and some missions may prove hard. But Mafia's strong point is it's story and script. Mafia's story is one of my favourite video game plots. If you enjoy any aspect of Mobster movies or games then you'll love Mafia's story. I strongly advise you against getting the PS2 version though, the PC version is much better.
zeta1
I've played both the console versions and have the PC. Get the PC, but screw the walkthrough. It's a movie type storyline.
AlianAnt
Awesome on PC, craptacular on consoles. Do yourself a favor and just get the PC version. Metal up your ass!
B Rob
I traded in a few games for mafia and beat it. After that I traded that game in because after you beat it the game is pretty much boring. No replay value. The storyline is cool though.

No replay value. The storyline is cool though. Dude, I still play it. If you are easily amused like me, free ride will hold you over. I love getting into the passengers side of a parked car, pulling out my Thompson and shooting the nearest cop while yelling "You'll never get me alive copper!". There should have been a Mafia-MP. Anyway yeah, there's nothing more satisfying than hitting a wiseguy with a sawn off to the spine, while he's down exclaming "maybe you'll think next time about breaking the omerta" then getting in your car and careen out of the city

Mafia is horrible for the PS2, the PC version is really great and doesn't take a super computer to run, so I would definatley buy it, seems I already have though.. Oh and the storyline is awesome on the PC version, very solid Story and I liked it alot and it has a very unsespecting ending!
