omega_c
Hi everyone I thought I had FF v.2. something, but i actually don't. I have v.1.5.0.9 I want to upgrade to version 2.0.0.1, but I can't find an upgrade link. I don't want to reinstall it... Can anyone help me out? Thanks! EDIT: By the way, I did the Help>Check for updates thing. It said there were no new updates.
San Andreas Nut
Link just click & install, it will overwrite the old version. I updated yesterday from like 1.
omega_c
But will it delete all of my bookmarks/plugins?
Mr. Hym.
But will it delete all of my bookmarks/plugins? No. At least, I don't remember it doing so.
Tornado Rex
The reason you can't update from 1.5.x is because they didn't include major upgrades in the update tool for that. From 2.x on you will be able to do major upgrades with it though. ~ Proud Supporter of the Child's Play Charity! | GTANET + Child's Play ~
omega_c
Ok, sounds good. I'm not going to for a little while, until someone confirms that it won't delete my bookmarks (the plugins aren't that important, I can reinstall them). OR, does anyone know where the bookmarks are stored so I can make a copy?

LoLHaX
Ok, sounds good.I'm not going to for a little while, until someone confirms that it won't delete my bookmarks (the plugins aren't that important, I can reinstall them). OR, does anyone know where the bookmarks are stored so I can make a copy? It doesn't delete your bookmarks or extensions. I was also worried about this when I upgraded, but they were still there after the upgrade. No worries. Edited February 18, 2007 by LoLHaX
Svip
Why would it delete your bookmarks? Your bookmarks aren't even where the application itself is! I have never ever worried about that, I have been running quite a bit of unstable Firefox versions. So you should not worry about losing your data. C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\bookmarks.html I don't see a folder called application data... Not under my name, Administrator, or All Users. SWEETSAPRIK
In XP Tools > Folder Options Click the "View" tab. Select "Show hidden files and folders" I usually just backup my bookmarks from inside Firefox, I've done that ever since the first time they all disappeared on a crash. That would be (in Firefox 2) Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks* *=Might be "bookmarks manager" in previous versions File > Export Then save that file somewhere and you can import them again later on the off chance they do get lost. They shouldn't get lost just from updating though. PяopagaиdaIиc.
omega_c
Ok, I upgrade, and I put in the silver theme that I was using before. The only thing is; the tabs are different (there is an X on each tab, which I don't like). Any ideas on how to change the tabs so they look like the 1.5 again? Any ideas on how to change the tabs so they look like the 1.5 again? There isnt a way of changing that to my knowledge, its not that annoying really is it? Its the same in 1.5 just it doesnt show till you open the tab. Deal with it lol

Type about:config in the address bar, then type in tabs in the search field and double click browser.tabs.closeButtons, change the value to 3. That will give you the single close button which is what you want I'm guessing. You can change that value around to try the different configurations. ~ Proud Supporter of the Child's Play Charity! | GTANET + Child's Play ~

Oh, one other thing; I'm using a silver skin that I found on the Mozilla website, but it isn't as good as one that was only for the earlier versions of FF. What skins do you guys use? I have the silver windows appearance settings, so i want it to look a bit like that...
LoLHaX
I use a skin called Opaque, which is basically the 2.0 skin, but with a bit more color to replace that 'washed out' look the default has. It's pretty nice.
