Tornado Rex
Alrighty so the new HDD I got for my laptop for Christmas seems to have went bonko. I won't get into the details (unless someone really wants to know). Anyway, I'm going to return it to get a replacement (since it's still under warranty). Now here's my question. Newegg says this: # What is the standard return policy for Newegg.com products?Products sold by Newegg.com are supported by our Standard Return Policy unless otherwise indicated. Merchandise under our Standard Return Policy may be returned within 30 days of the original invoice date for a refund or within one year of the original invoice date for a replacement. All returns require an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number. Because many companies offer additional factory coverage, you should contact the manufacturer directly for information regarding eligibility and specific Terms and Conditions. Now the part that gets me wondering is they say I have to get an RMA number. That's fine I can get it from Seagate. Here's where my question comes in though. Is it easier for me to just go directly through Seagate and have them replace the drive, or do the RMA through Seagate and send it back to Newegg. Or am I completely missing something here. Fozzy Fozborne
They mean their own RMA number. Email them saying "I just bought a new Seagate [drive number or drive size in GB] and [some details explaining your problem], may I please have an RMA for a replacement drive?" They'll respond with an RMA number and you send it back. If they have a replacement, they'll ship you one. If they don't, they'll refund your money. The customer service is very easy to use with Newegg. (I've had to return a hard drive as well, and that's what I did.)
Forfit
Yeah going through newegg is pretty easy and painless. Just do as already said...I've sent back a videocard and soundcard and all they did was give me an RMA number, i mail it back (you have to pay restocking fee though ) and they will send you a replacement in no time. Fozzy Fozborne
(you have to pay restocking fee though ) Only if you're returning a non-defective product for a refund!
Forfit
Really? I was returning Defective items for a refund and was being charged restocking fee. Hmm...Well actually the videocard i bought was "refurbished" and when i got it it still didn't work so i returned it and they tried to charge me restocking fee and i was like wtf it's broke...so they took the fee off. Spenc938
Don't RMA through seagate, they'll probably give you a refurb.
