marcandrehamelin
I have recently bought the game, and i have had a few annoying problems with it. Firstly when i load the game and i walk out of the door on los santos, sometimes the screen just crashes and stays black which means i have to turn off my computer manually as Ctrl + Alt + Del doestn't work. secondly after playing the game for a while it starts skipping and the clock is speeded up which means i have to quit the game and restart the computer to fix it. The Skipping generally happens after i have been into a building e.g at the gym and when i go to save a game the save game sign is spinning around very fast and skipping etc. Finally when i go into the red circle for a mission, the computer sometimes either crashes or skips themission intro. These problems are very frustrating if anyone could help that would be great. Thanks
gillies
Post something about your computer, the things listed at the top of the forum are a start. Operating system (XP users: be sure to mention if you have SP1 or SP2) Video/Graphics card type + graphics memory Processor RAM (random access memory) The timing thing you mention sounds like it could be the problem some dual core CPUs have with San Andreas. If you have a dual core CPU ALT+TAB out of the game when you start it and open the task manager (ALT+CTRL+DEL) then switch to the Processes tab and right click on the San Andreas process (gta_sa.exe or something similar) and click Set Affinity..., then untick one of the CPUs and click OK then return to the game and it should stop doing it. marcandrehamelin
Well That seems to have worked! Thankyou very much! There is one other problem though, whenever the weather changes to rain or a thunderstorm, the sound of everything else cuts out. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks again. gillies
I'm not sure how reliable some of the fixes in this topic are but they are probably the best things to try first up. Unfortunately the audio bug fixes in patch 1.01 were apparently not included in the 2.0 game which you probably have. I don't know the details of what was changed so it might not have been related to your problem anyway.

5Violinos
i solved my crashes (freezes) downgrading directx 9.0c to 9.0b but: i still have the thunderstorm/audio problem (downgrading to basic aceleration works but turns my game very slow any other ideas to solve this ? (i tried different versions of eax too) and i still have the "black road" problem (only a little) my specs: win xp sp2 pIV 2.4ghz 512 ddr 333mhz geforce4 mx440 64mb (latest codecs from nvidia) ac97 onboard sound (latest codecs from realtek) directx 9.0b the black road problem i think i can't solve it at all cause of my poor graphics card
James7788
Hi, I have a serious problem wit the game. It plays the intro movies then when it gets to just before the menu it just closes down and goes to the desktop. I have tried everything and i was wondering if anyone could post a list of possible solutions. This would be very much appreciated and i would be happy to return the favour. Thanks, James

James7788
Hey, I found a solution , 1- Some files are compressed and need a codec to allow them to run. The indeo video codec by ligos. 2- The game is IMPOSSIBLE to run on intel celeron procesors 3- It will not run on laptops because all the hardware in a laptop is compacted down so it is not designed for games. I hope that helps yall. James
gillies
It should still run on a Celeron, performance might not be too good but you can't have everything. Laptops also can run it, depending on what the laptop's hardware is. The problem you have is probably related to your SiS internal video card, even though it has enough memory it isn't very good for games. You could check if there is a newer driver that will get San Andreas to run, or consider getting a new graphics card.
