T-Cipp
I knew the Celtics would be the ones to torch the Houston Rockets' winning streak. It's just too bad that we won't see any other team accomplish that for a while. NBA Finals Game? You are allowed to pick two teams per conference. Hornets/Lakers vs. Celtics/Raptors
SteakPhish
Uh, you must be a Raptors fan...no way Toronto makes it to the finals. Tomorrow? Maybe. Today? No way. Lakers / Spurs, Boston / Detroit. @ Runey - Oh yeah, Miami is that bad. No Wade, Marion isn't a go-to guy...Zo is out for life. Who's left? A burnt out J-will? Miami would have a rough time in the D-league.

Burning-Ice
Went to the Laker-Warrior game on Sunday night and I have to say that Golden State has one hell of an offensively gifted team. Stephen Jackson is amazing, the guy just could not miss any 3-pointers. The Warriors definately have below average defense but I wouldn't be suprised if they upset another team in the first round. I'm glad the Lakers beat them on Monday though, if you lose 2 in a row in the Western conference, you can go back to the 8th seed.. Would like to point out how well Phoenix have been doing as of late, I was skeptical of their decision to trade for Shaq in the beginning but looks like the Diesel, or I guess the "Cactus" (just doesn't sound as intimidating) still had something left in the tank. Played 40+ minutes against Detroit tonight. NBA Finals: Lakers vs Celtics, a rivarly renewed.
Attorney General
Sweet Lawd!! Nice to see a your ugly mug again. Bro, believe me when I tell you...your presence is missed in Boxing Discussion. I've been hesitant to crown Boston the East champs up until now, and I'm not going to flip just yet. I still think Detroit has a legit shot at grinding out a seven game series against Boston. Lately, my gut feeling is that the representative from the West will be either the Lakers or Spurs. Any variation of these four teams would be appealing to me for an NBA Finals. Burning-Ice
G'damn injuries are ravaging the Lakers. Kobe's pinkie, Gasol's ankle, Bynum's knee, Ariza's foot, and now Fisher slightly tears a tendon? I don't see any team in the East beating the Celtics in a 7 game series, the Celtics have a hell of a defense, the big three (of course) who provide more than enough offense, Rondo does a good job providing and playing solid defense (which is really all he needs to do with the guys he's around) Cassel and Powe (who has been playing simply awesome recently) off the bench. Great depth, well coached; easily the best team in the NBA. Also, I am pleasantly suprised with the Hornets and how they've maintained such solid play after All Star Break, I thought they would tail off but instead they seem to continue to get better. And has anyone realized how good the West could be NEXT year as well? The top 9 teams in the West this year will still be in the picture next year, along with Portland who will have Oden back (Oden, Aldridge, Outlaw, and Roy?? Hell of a team), the Kings who are a talented young team with Udrih, Martin (very underrated), and Francisco Garcia.. I think they could make a good run next year but will probably just be this year's Portland. The Clippers' as well could be a playoff team next year if they keep Elton Brand and Magette. They've had a lot of injuries this year but with Brand, Kaman (pretty good year for him), Al Thornton (I think the 3rd best rookie behind Horford and Durant), and Livingston (who looked promising before that horrendous injury) would be an incredibly solid team. I think it could possibly be a 12 team race next season in the West.

Burning-Ice
Denver has to win tonight, it'd put them in 8th place. Don't worry, the way the Warriors are playing, Nuggets can lose their last 6 games and still make the playoffs...
SteakPhish
Err..did you see Denver last night? They lost in double OT to Seattle. Maybe you can attribute this to the regular season grind (combined with the stress associated with the competitiveness of the conference), but if that is starting to affect these two teams then they stand no chance in the playoffs. tony da boss
Wow, Lakers almost blew a thirty point lead against New Orleans, they even got it down to one point with a few minutes left. The fact that they won though definitely gives Kobe a boost in the MVP race, since this year he could end up on the best team in the west, and he's no doubt the best player. I'd say he deserves it over Chris Paul, even though I think Paul has done better this year than Nash did the two years he won.
Chargr
Speaking about the Lakers, they're winning Against The Spurs! 4th without Kobe.
Burning-Ice
I'm biased but I'd definately give it to Kobe. I've watched most of the Laker games and I believe that , overall, this is Kobe's best season he's played. He reads the defense and distributes, gets aggressive when the team starts to falter a bit, is a great finisher, and plays solid defense night in and night out. Considering the injuries the Lakers have endured, I'd give the nod over CP3 who is also having an amazing year and there's no doubt in my mind that he will win his share of MVP's in the next years. ass reamer
I'm sure you guys have Deshaun Stevenson's comments about LeBron James by now (it's been all over ESPN and the like), so I was wondering what everyone else thinks about it. Being a Wizards fan, I think it's great that the team is showing a little bravado and calling the Cavs out before the playoff series.

tony da boss
Playoffs start tomorrow.Time to post picks. Pretty bold move there picking the 76'ers over the Pistons. (If you're actually serious ) My winners for this round are Lakers, Mavs, Spurs, Rockets, Celtics, Pistons, and Cavs. I can't really decide on the Magic/Raptors series since I haven't really watched either of them play all year. Don't get me wrong, I like the Pistons. But they are always up there in the playoffs and a team like the 76ers has really improved. I would like to see them pull off an upset although it probably won't happen. BTW did anyone see Timmy D's game-tying 3point shot & Manu's game winner? DazedFinch
The first day alone for the NBA playoffs were amazing. I can't see what the rest of the playoffs will bring. My first rounds picks: Lakers, Hornets Jazz and Suns out of the West Celtics, Cavs, Pistons and Raptors out of the East. No question the Western conference series will be so much more interesting, since the bottom teams in the East barely played .500 ball all season. As for the East I'm going for my Raptors to hopefully win one playoff series since the Wince Carter days. 4/20 + NBA playoffs = heaven
gta_player5
Western Conference (1) Los Angeles Lakers vs (8) Denver Nuggets - The Lakers are simply the best team in the West, and possibly the league, Sure Boston has a better record, but the Lakers have been playing at a high level with a dinged up roster. Lakers in five. (2) New Orleans Hornets vs Dallas Mavericks (7) - New Orleans has done really well this season. I don't think their lack of playoff experience will hurt them. Chris Paul against Jason Kidd will be an interesting one, but better than that? Jason Kidd versus former coach, Byron Scott. Hornets in six. (3) San Antonio vs (6) Phoenix Suns - The Suns are doing alright, but they just can't play the defense that is needed to be played in order to win in the playoffs. They brought Shaq in to bolster the lane, but that still isn't enough. The other players have to play defense, but against the Spurs? Not going to happen. Spurs in five. (4) Utah Jazz vs (5) Houston Rockets - The Rockets not having Yao Ming will hurt them here. They did very well without him in the regular season but in the playoffs that will hurt them. That, and Utah just doesn't lose at home. Jazz in five. Eastern Conference (1) Boston Celtics vs (8) Atlanta Hawks - IF Atlanta wins one game in that series it will be a moral victory for them. they're under .500 record isn't going to help. Celtics sweep. (2) Detroit Pistons vs (7) Philadelphia 76ers - The 76ers have improved but in my opinion, not to the point where they can win a series over the Detroit Pistons. Detroit has more experience and more "elite" players if you will. Pistons in five. (3) Orlando Magic vs (6) Toronto Raptors - This should be an interesting series. Both teams have a dominant and young big man in Chris Bosh and Dwight Howard. Both teams can win at home, but I think it comes down to the Raptors road record. They played 16-25 on the road compared to Orlando's 27-14 on the road. Magic in six. (4) Cleveland Cavaliers vs (5) Washington Wizards - This should be a fun series. The first game was good, and I suspect the rest should be as well. The Wizards made the bad decision of basically calling out LeBron James. Gilbert Arenas can take over a game as well, but after Stevenson called out James, I think LeBron feels like he has a point to prove. This should be a back and forth series in my opinion. Cavaliers in seven.

Yeah, I made my post not knowing that Utah won last night, giving them home court advantage. Now it's pretty much in their hands unless Houston manages to win a game in Utah. Good luck with that though since they've only lost four games there the entire year.
Burning-Ice
Lakers, Hornets (after watching Paul have his way with Kidd), I'm not going to even pick a winner in the Suns/Spurs series, I enjoy watching both teams play against each other too much, and I have the Jazz beating the depleted Rockets (sorry T-Mac). The East, Celtics over Hawks (big suprise), Pistons over the 76ers in a 6 game battle, Magic will beat the Raptors mostly because the Raptor perimeter shooting is so iffy, and to beat the Magic, it helps having to not always try to score in the paint where Howard lurks, and Cavs over Wizards. masaba
lol at people picking the Raptors to come out of the east. I think it will come down to Cleveland and Orlando (Cleveland over Boston in 2nd round, Orlando over Philly in 2nd round) with Cleveland going to the finals and beating the Hornets or Lakers. By the way, this years playoffs have gotten off to an incredible start, 2008 has been a great year so far for the NBA, despite the whole Seattle fiasco. Congrats to Phili, beating the Pistons away in Game 1, rallying from a double digit defecit.
