D Jones
I like LeBron's style, and I can say with the right coaching and training he could possibly be the best player in a couple years, but Kobe has the reign now, easily. I mean, I know LeBron is a great player (My fav. by the way), but Kobe is winning and is winning rings at the same time. When LeBron wins his rings he can be up there with Kobe, but right now, Mr. Bryant is on a island all by his self with greatness...
SteakPhish
@ Attorney General - Checkmate. I took that last part out of my post because I thought it was a bit too harsh, but you caught me on it. I've been weaseling around the internet looking up quotes, interviews, stories, etc. and the bigger picture might be not quite as lopsided as I thought. I watch him closely during nationally televised Cavs games, and mostly i've observed him as humble, yet competitive. His post game interviews have been tame and the few other interviews I've seen him in have been likewise. I think he's maturing at an exponential rate though, I wouldn't expect this too much longer. He's a year older than me, and if I had the skills and money he did I can imagine being arrogant and egotistical on some level too. More so than I am now anyway. What's annoying is Lebron's inconsistencies. He'll be humble one moment and Basketball-Incarnate the next. Not sure I have anything to say about that. @ D -Jones - Kobe also had Shaq. And Kobe without Shaq hasn't been able to get them out of the first round of the playoffs. LeBron up to this point has had Lebron come playoff time, and for one game Daniel Gibson. Give the Cavs early 2000's Shaq and...oh man, that is one scary ass team. And I'm not faulting Kobe whatsoever. He's a vet. He's in his prime. He scores more easily than anybody in the league. Solid D. But Lebron is 22. Kobe is 29. Kobe is going to fade out in the next 4 or 5 years, and Lebron is going to in a whole other world of awesomeness by that point. Hopefully he'll learn how to shoot by then.

Give Shaq a good guard and he'll get to the playoffs (Penny Hardaway, Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade, and now Steve Nash). I think ability wise, LeBron is a monster, he has the physique to be a f*cking power forward, the speed of a shooting guard and the ability to dish it out like a point guard. But, I mean, Kobe Bryant just gets it done. Right now it doesn't matter about those 2000's or early 90's, Lakers are one, if not the best team in the Western.. ass reamer
He probably hates Kobe, too. There are just some people that can't handle greatness when they see it. I said he's a phenomal player, but I hate the way he carries himself on and off the court. I don't like Kobe either, for the same reasons, but Kobe is easily the best player in the league. The kinds of players I like are guys like Steve Nash, a hard-nosed guy who doesn't talk sh*t or act like an arrogant twat, he just goes out and gets it done night after night. I never heard Kobe talk sh*t, or even talk sh*t on the court. Kobe isn't arrogant, and he gets his job done, even when he isn't even suppose to be out on the court due to injury. But Kobe still goes out there and puts up amazing numbers every single night.
ass reamer
Kobe's mannerisms scream "arrogant f*cktard." I just don't like the way the guy carries himself. I also don't like how for years he was whining that LA needed to build a team around him. Basketball is the only sport where players get away with saying that kind of sh*t. Like when Vince Carter wanted to leave Toronto, and he said that he wasn't going to play 100% until he was traded. It's f*cking ridiculous. I love basketball but hate the modern basketball player. Runey
J-Rich went off tonight, had a season high 42 points. I've always liked his style of play.
thatsoccerguy
How about the Rockets with their 16th straight victory (and their 7th in a row by 10 points or more, 4 minus Yao). The Spurs are being the Spurs with 10. On the other side, the Mavs Jason Kidd deal...... . Yeah, Texas does a'ight.
SteakPhish
...or the Shaq deal. I wouldn't be surprised if one of those two teams got booted out of the playoffs. Both clubs are playing .500 ball right now...

thatsoccerguy
This Houston-New Orleans game is a 3-point fest. There were 18 total in the first half, 9 by each team, with the Rockets getting all 9 in the 2nd quarter. Rockets up at the half 59-46. EDIT: 666th post, ftw. EDIT: Rockets ftw, 106-96. #18 Edited March 9, 2008 by thatsoccerguy
SteakPhish
I wonder how well this win streak will hold up in the playoffs. Houston doesn't have Yao, so....well Mutumbo is going to need to get about 12 years younger, quickly.

The team that they are tied with now and the two teams that have had better streaks have all gone on to win the NBA Finals. True it doesn't hold much significance to the playoffs, because like we saw last year an eight seed can beat a one seed. However, I thought that, that fact was a pretty interesting one. Golden State just matched up really well with Dallas last year...i'm pretty sure Golden State swept Dallas last year in the regular season series. These playoffs are going to be KILLER competetive. In the West you can easily see any seed taking down any other seed, it's going to be sick. The East, not so much. It's going to come down to Cleveland, Detroit, or Boston....and a very very slight nudge to Orlando. Everyone else is meat. Win streaks are fun and all, but they're going to get knocked from it sooner or later. Portland won 13 in a row this year and they are back to hovering around the .500 mark. Anything is possible in this conference.
TommyVercetti.
What's the deal with Shaq in Phoenix. I been hearing a lot about oh he isn't doing good and I haven't been able to sit and watch a game and pay attention to him. If anything I would guess he would help the team out in such a big way. I mean he's a center he can let Stoudemire play his natural position of true Power Forward and get some killer passes from steve nash down low. Phoenix hasn't had a presence down low on either end of the floor for a while. So anyways, to anyone who's been able to watch Shaq on the suns can you fill me in? Runey
Shaq's doing his job in Phoenix, they're going through adjustments now. Though they were better in the regular season without him, their run and gun style will never get them a championship.

Stefan.
Houston needs to trade Yao. Seriously. Another great game by the Rockets; number 21 in a row, and the 8th game in a row where Tracy McGrady has been the leading point-scorer. Not only that, but it was a comeback win; being down 43-36 down at the half and coming back, a good match.
Fishman1233
The Rockets made their winning streak to 21 with a win over Charlotte. They also take over second place for the all-time win streaks and tied for first in the Western conference. They will play the LA Lakers on sunday but the Lakers are likely to be without Pau Gasol. Do you think that the Rockets can make it past their next 5: vs. Lakers, vs. Boston, @ New Orleans, @ Golden State, @ Pheonix I say that they will lose to Boston and end their streak at 22. SteakPhish
Their streak is ending sometime next week. I don't know who gets the honors, but the fairy tale is over this week. Did anyone hear about my Bulls last night? We blew a 18pt 4th quarter lead to Philly. We lost 110-106 and were outscored 40 - 20 (!!!) in the 4th quarter. Against Philly. Man. D Jones
It is a hell of a f*cking fairy tale. Houston within' weeks flys to the top. Before this, not a single soul was talking about Houston going all the way. Now with Yao being injured they sky rocket with good fortune. I think Mutmumbo's finger is magical. SteakPhish
I still don't see Houston going all the way without Yao. I do think it's weird to see this much success from Houston without him. The problem is that without a low post presence they've been jacking up a lot more 3's and jumpers, and their offense is prone to become stagnant when they start doing that. Look at the Charlotte and Atlanta games. Both defenses are meh, but Houston was building a brick house anyway. 5 for 29 from 3 in the Charlotte game I believe was the stat. Solid low post scoring is a MUST in playoffs because the game is generally a little slower. I can definitely see Houston getting past the first round, especially if they end up playing Golden State because Houston matches up well with them...but that's all I can see really. gta_player5
SuperSonics 116, Nuggets 168 In 4 quarters, no overtime. It is the most points scored since Phoenix scored more than 170 points in a game in 1990. That is just ridiculous. If two teams score more than a hundred points there is absolutely no defense. But when one team scores over one hundred fifty points? If you half the amount of points Denver scored you get probably the average points scored by an NBA team in a game! That game must have been crazy to watch, just points being scored left and right.
SteakPhish
100 point games by no means imply that there was no defense in the game, it also depends on the style of play. Usually grind-out games end up in the 80-90 pt range but it's VERY common from games to get into the 100's. Just look at tonight's games. For every victory except for 2 of them, te winner scored 100 or more points, and in the 2 that didn't they had 98. 75 points is very low, as in I doubt any team that scores 75-80 points in a game has any chance of winning. GTA3Rockstar
Go Nuggets and Houston won 22 in a row. Think they can break the record? Figuring there is only 15-19 more games left.
tony da boss
Well, the Lakers almost blew a twenty five point lead to Dallas last night. Dirk and Jason Terry were making unbelievably lucky three pointers left and right, I'm surprised they didn't end up winning. Just seriously ridiculous. And I'm also glad that Houston's streak was finally cut off at twenty two by Boston last night, almost getting worried they were going to run away with the number one seed.
