I started a Night Elf Druid a month ago since I wanted to heal, level 39 but I've hardly played it and when I have I've been in dungeons and hardly questing. I thought doing random groups at level 80 was bad, but dungeons while actually leveling makes me wonder how they even had enough brain cells to know how to work a computer.

 

Got KingSlayer a month back to, quite happy although due to us getting in people who haven't got the title in there on raid nights we've not downed him a second time. Came close though. Liking the dailies in Stormwind though, since they are easy.

 

@Az hoping to get Cata at least a day before release so I can run it at midnight or get it on release day, although my post doesn't come until 2pm (and if its still snowing then even later) so I'll be missing some good hours.

I had a night Elf druid as well (level 67) in all boas except trinkets, and i tanked my way through everything until the patch. Druid tanking is so f*cked now, i can hold aggro on a group of three mobs or more, it's sad really.

Sorry to double post but: Cataclysm is less than 11 hours here in the states. over in Europe you guys have about 2 hours left to go.

 

Time to see all the server, and world firsts pop up. I love that kinda sh*t.

Europe servers crashed and everyone was trying to log in at the same time. Had one of the GM's come on about 20 minutes before the game went live, and she logged out with about a minute until launch and she got in right away after it went live..while the rest of us took about 20 minutes to try and log back in.

 

I was supposed to get my game in the post today, but didn't. I did the only thing that someone would do instead of wait, I downloaded the digital one and I'm going to send back the other when I get it.

 

Already halfway to 81 and I feel like I should be leveling my professions but I'm just to engrossed in leveling right now. Oh and there's a sh*t ton of people doing the same quests its funny.

I got the collectors edition, its pretty f*cking neat. I cant play till the week-end however.

I'd be about 82 now, except I'm on the very last quests for 80 where you have to kill so many things on a flying mount inside the fire place. As soon as I jump onto said mount my FPS drops to about 4...and my normal FPS is around 200 odd. So f*cking retarded. So I'm stuck basically, hoping to try it at the middle of the night and see if it helps but I'm not hoping on much.

Really digging the new zones. All the quests seem a lot more interactive and fun than what we've been used to up till now. Did a Throne of the Tides run last night, too. Was fun to just learn as we went. Cool instance, that.

Congratz on the ding. I've only just hit 82. Really enjoying levelling at the moment, seems more like it's a full part of the game rather

a chore to just get the to highest level.

About 2 or 3 bars from 83. To be honest even though I really want to be 85 and get my professions up its really annoying me at how many f*cking people are actually questing in the same areas. Which usually make it impossible.

 

I'm debating the playing at midnight until I fall asleep since most people would be going to bed about then well enough to actually get to do some questing without people coming in and popping off a kill I need. So I'll probably jump on in about 30 minutes or so. There's only one guy whos 85 in my guild right now. Although there might be more now since I stopped playing at about 9.

Level 82.5 and really enjoying the game so far.

The new quests are much more in depth and interactive. Im loving it.

 

The final quests in Hyjal before heading into Deepholm are awesome.

 

Dont quite get Archiology, but not exactly trying to level it yet either.

Also have a 25 Worgen Hunter and think they easily have the best starting zone/quests.

 

Blizzard have done a fantastic job from what Ive seen so far. =]

I've just hit 84 last night and some of the quests in Uldum are f*cking rock solid. Right piss me off sometimes, still I'm going to finish them...one day.

 

I think I'll head to the twilight place now until I hit 85 and see how that place goes. Still really busy though so thats also annoying.

 

As for the Worgen, I made one the other night and have to say I really enjoy it to. Really loved the quests up to the cut scenes where they show you how you turn into a Worgen. Over all, love the quests, and new stuff.

 

Feels kind of sad that most of my HC epics are now changed by either green or blue items.

Anyway, got to 85 in like, 2 days. Was abit fast but I'm not complaining. Started gearing up my PvP pieces, already got 2 pieces. The instances are pretty hardcore, even on normal it can get pretty hairy. I'm a Ilvl away from Heroics, its probably gonna be hardcore.

 

ONLY complaint is that as always the new races are getting OP racials for pvp, but meh, that was to be expected.

 

I havnt had any issues with any quest, if anything I blasted through them no problem. The only issues I had were when there were too many people in one area and it was a fight for the mob kills.

Also, the skeletons for that quest in Uldum have TERRIBLE respawn rate, I mean WTF. Those who did it know what i'm talking about, the rope quest. For some others I'm barely done killing the first and another spawns on him!

 

EDIT: Also, Athene got world first 85. Thats just awesome.

Picked up Cataclysm last week and started a brand new character a Blood Elf Hunter. Already managed to get myself to level 40 and I have to say the changes that have been made are really impressive. Levelling, even through these early stages, doesn't seem to be as much of a chore, you won't find yourself trekking all over the map just for one thing then all the way to the opposite side just for another as much now and the stories that have been put into the areas are fantastic, Stonetalon Mountains was a particular highlight.

 

Have to admit I'm very jealous of those of you that went into this at level 80! I can't wait to see the new zones.

Only leveled my Worgen to about 10 right now. I'm about 6 bars away from 85, not really been playing since some family problems went on. Although I've found myself playing after mightnight still, even then its quite busy and I'm way to lazy and tired to get up at 4am+ to level.

 

Saying that, even the new quests in Eastern Kingdoms are so much more fun even at 80 than they were when you were actually leveling. I really enjoyed the Westfall ones.

 

I'll agree with you about the new dungeons they are f*cking hard when you aren't used to them. Tried out a couple finally with guild members and it was quite fun. Although I noticed a bug, every member (5) were all guild members and it only said 4 of you were in the same guild in the little icon while in the dungeon.

 

Whats everyone's guild level? Last I checked we were nearly level 5. Pretty cool stuff really when you get higher.

 

@Bap - That rope quest was a bitch. Not because they respawned fast enough (since I thought they took forever to respawn) but just because every single one I found for a good 5 minutes was already being attacked by another player. Swear to god there was about 15 other players on that same bloody quest when I was which was stupid. Quite happy about the respawn rate on some of the quest mobs though since if they weren't fast enough you'd end up with so many more poeple waiting around unwilling to join a group to get it done faster.

@Rebel: We're about L5 or L6, I think, for guild level.

 

Got my tankadin to 85 last week + got my warlock to 85 this week. Wrapping up the last of the Twilight Highlands quests on my warlock (my main) for the Cataclysm Loremaster achievement; I already have loremaster for Outlands and Northrend. Just got Cataclysm Explorer last night, as well.

 

My impressions thus far have been pretty good. Not a massive fan of the node distribution for miners/herbalists, mostly due to phasing bugs. Therazane dailies are fun, and the quest design is fantastic (BEST. WEDDING. EVAR!)

 

Our guild (ZeGuild on Sentinels-US), aka the "Ctrl-Alt-Del Guild", is starting up rated PVP tonight. Looking forward to it. My raid team is prepping for gearing up tomorrow night, and I expect to hammer out a lot of dungeon runs over the weekend.

Yeah, just started spamming the sh*t out of instances. Also got 2-piece PvP so I'm farming the crap out of BG's. I'm gonna have to start looking for a BG team because thats really what I'm looking forward too.

Imagine my surprise when I logged into WoW the day after the release and /who'd Goblin out of curiosity and saw there were already a few 85 goblins. At first I was like :OOOO and then I realized that people can do race changes now.

 

I stopped playing a couple weeks after Wotlk came out and picked it back up when Cataclysm came out. I'm hooked again Started a Goblin hunter and I'm chillin on level 38 right now. Gonna wait for my fiance to catch up to me so we can level together.

 

My pally is still 75.

Well, that's what WOTLK sort of ruined. Everyone just got used to plowing through heroics, mass AoEing and one shotting bosses in a few seconds. This reminds me more of Vanilla, the only good thing about Vanilla was that stuff was a lot more challenging and I appreciate that Blizzard made stuff harder.

 

Of course people are gonna outgear most of the HC's later on, but the fact that you still have to CC on every pull and actually think what you are doing before blowing your cooldowns will still keep it not "ez" mode as you put it.

Haven't done HC's yet since I only hit 85 on Tuesday and have been busy since, but I went into a couple of the new dungeons when I was about 83 or 84 and got my ass handed to me a dozen times before I got used to how hard even the damn mobs hit let alone the bosses. Haven't done any pugs yet but plan on gearing up since I'm 85 after Christmas.

 

Also going to work on the Lore Master for Eastern Kingdoms and Cata when I eventually get round to it. Not going to do Kalimar? since I can't stand that place.

After two and a half years away from the game, I'm reinstalling WoW.

 

To put that into perspective, I have an unopened Wrath of the Lich King that I received from Christmas almost two years ago at Christmas 2008. I decided to stop playing as to not ruin my work at uni.

 

Well I'm entering my last semester of uni and I've got an incredible urge to carry on my level 67 Orc hunter. Not gonna bother with my 70 Orc Shaman, too much baggage (literally and figuratively). Plus I played that character to death.

 

Might also start a Dwarf so I can play with my girlfriend who has Alliance characters.

 

I think I'm mad; I'm immensely behind on my uni work but I can't fight the urge anymore.

I need at the very least a weapon from heroics, as you cant go in Arena/Rated BG with a lvl'ing weapon, it just wont work. I know there are pvp weapons, but mind you, I need something in between as I'll never get to the PvP wep with a crappy lvl'ing wep or smth.

Theres also a few key items, generally from rep vendors, that will massively boost my effectiveness in PvP. The epic neck from Ramkhaen or the Belt from Hyjal comes to mind.

 

Plus I'm a warrior, and PvE gear really boosts our damage out-put compared to pvp gear, so we need a balance of both.

 

But yeah, I wish I didnt have to do heroics. And as soon as I have what I need to optimize my pvp, I will say BB to heroics and raids. Until the next patch that is, where I have to do the same thing.

Oh, well then that's a whole other story. I'm a warrior too, I know how it works. You need a mix of PvP and PvE gear, in other words armor pen gear from PvE. I'm not sure if there is armor pen left in the game though, I quit before Cata.

I hit 85 a week and a half ago and have done a few randoms. Got enough gear to get into some heroics and got smashed a heap of times. It was awesome. They've finally made the game similar to what it was back in Vanilla. If they're ever gonna get WoW back to what it was, this will be as close as they get.

 

Pretty impressed still. Still loving flying around Azeroth.

On the history of armour pen, nah it's gone now, it's all mastery and things like that now, I've got no idea where to start in pvp with my 85 warrior now. :S

It's essentially the same to be honest.

 

Since were not an "MS class" anymore they gave us some usefull abilities. The first being knockdown, 5 second stun, no need to explain why this is usefull.

The second is the hamstring talent. Remember what it did in Wotlk? Yeah that's gone, now if you re-apply hamstring to an already hamstringed target, you'll immobilize them for 5 seconds.

We can actually do some real peeling now with these 2 abilities.

 

Lastly, they gave us Pummel in Battle Stance, can I hear a "f*ck yeah"? No need to go apesh*t with our pummel and shield bash macros anymore.

 

Arp is gone yeah but not all is lost, they gave us collosus smah. It essentially replaces Arp. I'm sure you've already figured this out but you simply need tp precede any burst with collosus smash to maximize the damage.

 

Oh yeah, and Heroic Leap, third charge pretty much, harder to use because you need to actually aim, but a third gap closer is never refused.

 

I've not yet mastered Deadly Calm and Inner rage. Inner rage seems pretty much useless in pvp, not gonna piss away your rage for essentially nothing.

 

Deadly calm sounds really awesome, and you have to essentially use it at the end of your burst, so you can burst again because of rageless cost of abilities. It simply seems hard to pull off.

 

@It_yao, ya. Pretty much. PvE gear still boosts damage even with arp gone. But what I really need is a weapon. If I get that, I'll probably only occasionally do the dailies.

 

 

On the subject of heroics, I cant see the point of people creaming their pants because its like Vanilla. Vanilla was hard because it was tricky, and required slightly more intelligence.

With required or slightly under gear lvl, the instances were still possible. Yes they were harder than BC/Wotlk, but I'd say Cata heroics are abit over the top, because they simply challenge you by making them require higher gear than currently realistically possible in order not to wipe/have a seriously and annoyingly hard time with.

 

Anyway, might be wrong, thats my take on it.
