I really need to get into learning to fly, Helis I'm cool with but Jets... sheesh, what do most of your guys use for controls, I've tried using the WADS and Cursors and and you get some sharp control, I tried using the WADS and mouse, but I find it a little 'all-over-the-shop', also do you keep your finger on the throttle all the time or do you use it in fits and starts.

If you're having trouble with mouse and keyboard, definitely get yourself a good joystick. I find mouse and keyboard only works well for helicopters and on the ground.

Helicopters and a Joystick just don't mix in my opinion, power up, tilt forward, then you get into a wabble and crash into a 60 foot cliff or something.

 

Piss take to be honest, Jets I prefer flying.

my setup for jets is:

 

accelerate: enter

brake/hover: backspace

roll right: right arrow

roll left: left arrow

pitch up: down arrow

pitch down: up arrow

fire (m. gun): right ctrl

fire (missles/bombs): right shift

flares: x

 

i havnt got any kind of trouble with this as of yet, it takes a little gettin used to, as does flying in general. but once uve got the hang of it u'll be fine

Servers been going strong from about half 3 yesterday up until half 1 in the morning.

Yeah, going strong with noobs in it. They don't fight on the ground, they just rape your base when you spawn.

As long as all the flags are capped, then they are allowed the go to the uncap.

 

Just do the same to them.

 

I told a few yesterday to get out, because we had a few flags left. They went, which was good of them.

 

What does piss me off though is when people say "This servers wank" I'll just come back with a sharp "f*ck off then"

 

Get some c*nts who mouth back, can't do anything about them though

 

What does my head in is when there's over 100 tickets left and the other team has no flags left and is capping, and some knobhead kills the last player stopping them from capping and f*cking the gameplay up.

It's annoying though, there isn't really any way of reaching the other side of the map. What happened was, when I wanted to take off to go to their base and bomb the f*ck out of it, returning what they done to us, they stormed our base, spawnkilled and parked everything in the way on the runway. There wasn't any way i could take off vertically in the Jet because it was in a hangar. The choppers, one guy was spawnkilling, the other was on the anti-tank gun blowing the Helicopters up. The boats were destroyed aswell.

 

Anyway, when I eventually got in the air, I just blew loads of them up. Me and Ash aswell, we were in the Jets a fair bit, I'm pretty good on the guns, he's a mint pilot.

 

Just got my 'Basic Aviator medal' and an 'Airborne medal' (when i was parachuting out of a Jet).

 

What do I have to do to get the next level Aviator medal ?

Put your name the box on the left hand side and it will bring up your stats, then hover over the badges and ribbons at the bottom and it will show you the requirements for each award

Just done that mate, says I have no stats (global score of 0) and that I need to play in ranked servers, which I have been doing anyway. Think it's because EA are having a problem uploading everyone's stats at the moments, and this means that my stats aren't being uploaded, eventhough I'm new to the game.

 

When EA upload the stats, will I get my medals back, or will I have to earn them again ?

 

 

Just to clarify, I have been playing in ranked servers, the Z server is ranked (as far as I know), plus I select it when I'm applying filters to search for a server. I put a cross in the box next to 'Ranked'.

Noone knows. The servers are powered by Gamespy and there are reports that some are still active but they are very rare and almost certainly whored out. No slots for ages with people trying to get in all the time.

 

My advice is to play for a laughand hopefully if and when the servers are back online, We may get them backdated. I wouldn't hold my breath though.

Alright then, well, that's all what the game is to me, just a bit of fun at the end of the day. Points are all good, but if EA is having problems, not much we can do.

Argh, still no updates. I got fed up and decided to start playing 2142. Overall, I think people don't give this game a chance and there is alot of fun to be had. Sure EA is a bunch of money grubbing whores, but the game was on sale and 2 isn't playing nice. I played through a few matches and I have to say that I really like this game and the whole future weapons are pretty cool. Right now I am working my way up to get an active camo unlock in the recon kit. Titan mode is very awesome by the way. There's also the northern strike expansion pack, but I don't have it. Apparently it introduces the assualt lines mode.

I've un-installed 2142, it was a novelty at the beggining, but I'd sooner play BF2 mods while stats are down.

 

I've done about 14 hours of PR since they have been. It owns.

Put some vehicles on though, well, vary it, bit of the ol' IO and then IO/vehicles.

Speaking of BF2142, They've just released a Beta patch with the Highway Tampa 2142map in it. Let's hope it doesn't wreck your stats like it did (JP) to BF2.

Oh right, well, just rotate it a bit. IO is great, but it's fun aswell to have planes too.

 

 

By this I mean, you could change the server like on a 2 week basis, or less than that even. This means that you have a rotation of IO and then planes, makes it more fun. A server on CoD2 used to do the same, except obvioiusly CoD2 doesn't have planes/choppers, but they rotated the maps every two weeks, so it didn't get boring.

BF2 STATS OUTAGE LATEST NEWS: (NOT GOOD SO FAR)

 

Been doing a lot of searching around various BF2 forums and sites, and it does seem that some servers aren't getting affected, but it seems that the real problem is with the gamespy system reporting of the stats, not due to the Tampa map.

 

But it means that the sites that are working are getting swamped with players wanting a game, so its not really worth playing the game to gain any points, it purely for sh*ts and giggles at the moment it seems until them b00ns have sorted it out.

 

What they think has happened is that the stats are getting sent to the server, the ones sent over the weekend of 14/15 June to 17/18 June are gone forever, those after that date seem to be all qued up waiting for them to sort the problem out. That's after they came back into the office on Monday and went 'alright which muppet unplugged the server?', but they aren't saying either way if those that are qued up are are going to update (that old 'confirm or deny' answer).

 

There is a page here which has the official update on the balls-up, so I guess its a case of wait and see what them there b00ns do.

 

If you ask me they updated their machines to Vista... nuff said.

great news it looks like they are back up as im onto 10,900 sumthin points till my next promotion! yesterday it was 11,020 sumthin

 

i'd suggest everyone checks their stats, writes down there global score, play for a few hours and check it again because mine have definately updated!

I spent the last Three hours practicing flying the Helicopter, I've gotton lazy on that flying stuff and now i'm back to having the hang of it. I need Geinea pigs to practice on, can't keep shooting at still stuff, but it is the basics.

Thought i'd add that yes stats are back in order. I should also add nothing is updated so yeah, lost points but that's ok. For me who was out of service for Two months it helped me get back into it. i'll be on here and there tommarow.
