Yeah, that was pretty brutal for CM Punk's debut in the UFC, but I'd think that most people weren't expecting anything different. None the less, I respect CM Punk, and for even, stepping into the Octagon and going through with the whole thing.

I was rooting for Punk, but it was obvious that he didn't stand a chance and you gotta admire his dedication and work doesn't matter the outcome. The best part was that he had "Cult of Personality" as his entrance theme.

It was embarrassing to watch Punk yesterday. I've never been a fan but I was feeling sorry for him as soon as he screwed up in his first move and got caught in the takedown. Can't deny that I've had quite a laugh at his expense, though.

 

In better news, I'm happy to see Becky Lynch finally get her long overdue title win at Backlash!

What a great PPV. Smackdown pulling it out the bag, even with an injured Orton and No John Cena. I was worried the women's match wouldn't be that good, but it was actually a lot better than I imagined. Plus, Becky Wins!!! #becklash

Thought I'd never see the day that AJ becomes wwe champion. Just think, if AJ had joined the wwe any sooner he probably would have never gotten the oppurtunity.

 

Between that, Becky finally becoming a champion, and Heath being able to support his 18 children, it was just a great PPV.

A solid PPV. The only down point for me was Bray Wyatt losing to Kane. It made no sense. They could have just had Bray win and then Orton RKOs him. Highlight of the night was seeing Becky finally win a championship.

But I am glad to see AJ as champ, just wanted it to be later rather than sooner, also Becky is SD Women champ, that awesome.

the whole thing was a dumb charade.

at least Brock Lesnar was a real traditional wrestling champion before entering the octagon. he's a freak of nature in addition to having a real foundation for martial arts.

 

but CM Punk had none of that.

he thought he could learn in 2 years what most professional fighters spend an entire lifetime trying to master. he performed exactly as expected; getting his ass handed to him. he was never going to win a single round - let alone the fight. and then he had the arrogance to say that he'll "be back" during the press conference.

 

he won't be back.

he needs to cut his losses and return to making good money nice and safe with the WWE. there's literally no one he could beat in the UFC. he's the bottom of the barrel.

In Punk's defense it isn't his fault that UFC offered him a spot on the card and a hefty payday; as he said he'd be a fool to turn that down. Being cocky and confident is also part of the schtick; you don't say going into a fight "well ya know I plan on getting absolutely thrashed but let's hope they're having an off night". By all accounts he took the time to train as best he could, and he helped the UFC make money off his name. That's completely fair play, in my book. If he keeps training like he says he will he'll get better, and maybe someday will earn another spot at a future UFC events. Probably nothing now (he really should cut his teeth elsewhere), but this isn't necessarily the end.

It was a complete mockery. The only reason he even got the shot was due to his name value from WWE and to pump the buyrate for his first "fight". He doesn't have anything that would make him look like he can become an adequate, respectable fighter at this stage with his worn out body, age and the lack of any attributes to make him threatening. Not very athletic, no strength, legitimate mat wrestling ability or anything. Calling him a celebrity fighter would not be too far from the truth. Brock is a once in a lifetime athlete and Punk definitely doesn't compare to him on any level.

 

I think his post-match comments were just him trying to save face. He was already about to cry and with his massive ego, he wouldn't just wave the white flag in front of the world and admit defeat on such painful levels so he gave a phony feel good speech. And there's no way he will fight again in UFC if he wants to continue with MMA. He got exposed and the novelty of seeing him in a real fight is completely gone. There's nothing to see anymore because the same thing will happen if he has another match. Even Dane said that he's better off trying his luck elsewhere if he wants to fight again.

 

But I don't see him doing it. He thought he could be like Brock and spite WWE by becoming a bigger star as a real fighter but instead he tarnished his reputation and became a laughing stock. He should just leave before any further humiliation and come back to wrestling (most likely New Japan since him and WWE still got bad blood right now).

Also an add on, was that not a horrible ppv? 4 of the matches had interference , with only lana being sent to the back, 1 match stopped for "medical" reasons. I mean really? Smackdown is currently destroying raw in my book.

 

Wait hell in a cell is a Raw exclusive, we'll that sucks if it's anything like tonight pass. No Mercy will probably be way better.
