Yeah, Finlay's definitely not getting the title shot. But then again, I doubt Kane would either, but at least he'd be more interesting considering he's Taker's brother like you said.

And I think this whole retirement match bit with Ric Flair has run its course. He looks awful these days anyway, maybe he should just quit.

I just came into possession of a copy of Mid-Atlantic year in review for 1978, and there was a nice package of Flair vs Steamboat. 11 YEARS before they had what is widely considered one of the greatest matches of all time (WrestleWar 1989).

Scary to think about. I saw Flair at the Rumble (which BTW was the most boring Rumble I've seen in years) and it was kind of sad to watch. sad.gif

I'm actually not against democracy though. I'm against things I think are f*cking stupid. I think this is f*cking stupid. - Sweets

I kinda meant so Kennedy Kennedy could injure him again...  suicidal.gif

What? Orton is the one who took out Cena. Kennedy took out Lashley.

Mmhhh... No...

If you don't wanna beleive me, don't read this spoiler...

Cena fought Kennedy Kennedy and injured himself doing an arm drag... He fought the match through and after the match, Orton came out, and did an RKO through the table...

The Elimination chamber is sounding so fu*king gay. I have no idea why they put Finlay in these good matchups. He always ruins everything with his fu*king shilahlee (which he can actually use in the chamber) and by cheating. I understand why they put Khali and Big V in there, thnking everyone will like the big guys in there but i really wish that they had swapped Finlay with Kane. Try and get the brother vs brother feud going. Some people may not like that or think it is boring but i rather enjoy watching them two.

Everything Finlay is put in is automatically made better and I'm interested in seeing him in the Chamber. He's going to be the guy who uses his technical, more intelligent style to put on interesting spots with the big brawlers (same with MVP). We know he won't win it all, but we need smaller guys to even the styles and will make for a much more interesting match. Just as long as Khali and V are eliminated early.

Chris Harris Speaks On Leaving TNA, Signing With WWE, More

Its official former TNA wrestler Chris Harris has signed with WWE. Yesterday he published a statement on his official website regarding the circumstances of leaving TNA and signing with WWE. Below is the statement:

Due to confidential negotiations, I have had to keep quiet for some time. I have read a number of wrestling sites reporting what they suspected was happening with me. I have had numerous calls from radio stations and internet sites and have answered none. Fans on the site and in person want to know. Truth is, I wanted to keep quiet until it was official. Yesterday evening, I signed a contract with the World Wrestling Entertainment.

I apologize for not responding to anyone, but there was no need to stir up the gossip until I had something official. Not to mention, I am not sure of the rules yet and didn't want to cause problems with my new employer. I have put a lot of thought into this decision and feel that it is the best for me. Wrestling is my life and I had lost my passion for it. I have been unhappy for some time. It was the right time to make some changes. I have fulfilled many dreams in my wrestling career, but the ultimate dream is to be at the top of the wrestling world...and that means the WWE.

I will say nothing bad about TNA. I am grateful for everything they have given me. I appreciate the fact they have helped advance my career to where it is today. The past 5 1/2 years have been some of the best in my life, but also some of the most stressful. I have worked my ass off to become what I am today. Now it is time to take the next step.

I don't know what the future holds for me. It is time to start at the bottom again and fight my way to the top. I am proud to be part of my new family. Even though I have not worked for WWE before...I feel like that is where I belong.

I want to thank everyone for all of the support they have given me over the years. I can only hope that you continue your support. The real journey has just begun. I will put my heart and soul into this journey and let God lead me.

I always remind everyone to "live the dream". This is my dream...and it's time to start living!

WWE Looking To Hire Philly Bad Girl, Cena Spikes RAW Rating

Source: PWInsider.com

-- Philly radio personality Chris Booker has been quoted as saying in today's Philadelphia Daily News that WWE has offered Philadelphia news anchor Alycia Lane an on camera role with the company. Last May, Lane became the center of a national media story when reports surfaced that she emailed pictures of herself and friends, depicting her in a bikini, to the NFL Network's Rich Eisen via an account that he shared with his wife, Suzy Shuster. During the early morning hours of December 16, 2007, Lane was arrested after being accused of assaulting a female police officer. Lane was charged with one felony count of assault on a police officer. She was fired from KYW-TV about three weeks ago.

-- This week's edition of Raw did a 3.9 cable rating, it's best number for a non-special since the Raw after WrestleMania last year. The first quarter hour of the show drew an impressive 4.31 rating. Overall, the show drew a 4.05 rating in the first hour and a 3.69 rating in the second hour.

I guess Cena equals ratings.

Regarding the Flair retirement angle, I ran across this today in the pro wrestling blog of the local newspaper:

The current booking plan is for Ric Flair to face Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania and for it to be Flair’s final match, according to wrestlingnewsdesk.com.

Flair-Michaels makes a lot of sense to me, especially if the idea is for Flair to participate in a classic match. No disrespect to the “Nature Boy,” but at this point in his career, he needs to be in the ring with a great worker such as Michaels to have a shot at pulling that off.

This would be a matchup of two of the greatest all-around performers in wrestling history on the biggest stage. It also would represent something of a passing of the torch, as Michaels idolized Flair growing up and wanted to be like him.

I have little doubt that Flair-Michaels would be a great match filled with genuine emotion — both in the wrestlers and the fans — and would go down as another memorable WrestleMania moment. The key for this to work is for WWE to come up with a story line explaining why Michaels would want to defeat Flair and end his career.

Full posting is at http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/sports/wre...estlemania.html and the original source appears to be http://www.wrestlingnewsdesk.com/WND/the_n...20080129696.htm

I agree with Eck; that sounds pretty intriguing to me. Not only would it be a good show, but it seems a great way for Flair to finish. Oh, and since I've never posted in the topic before: Hi tounge2.gif

WM Plans?:

- Early plans for WrestleMania 24 have Triple H facing John Cena for the WWE Title, which would mean Triple H wins the Elimination Chamber and Cena takes the belt from Orton at No Way Out. There also has been rumblings of a 3-way with Orton, Triple H and Cena at WrestleMania. Either way, Triple H is likely to be wrestling for the gold in the main event at WrestleMania. It's being said Triple H has politicking backstage in WWE very hard since the Rumble on Sunday night.

- The expected SmackDown main event is still Edge vs. The Undertaker, which would mean both men win their matches at No Way Out. MVP vs. Matt Hardy for the WWE United States Championship is still being planned and of course the Money in the Bank match. The rest of the big stars such as Hardy, Kennedy and Orton (if he's not in the main event) are expected to be thrown into the MITB match.

- What about Mr. McMahon at WrestleMania? There has been talk of doing something between him and Finlay over Hornswoggle, although not necessarily a singles match. Possible matches are Vince vs. Mick Foley, Foley vs. Shane McMahon or Finlay & Foley vs. Shane & Vince.

-- Happy Birthday to WWE star Finlay, who celebrates his 50th birthday today.

-- For those that want to know more about JBL’s energy drink, JBL has formed a new corporation based around it. The corporation is called Layield Energy, Inc. as they issued a press release today on the drink which is being billed as "an aphrodisiac to increase sexual performance in men." The drink called "MamaJuana Energy" is $42.95 a 12-pack. You can visit the official website of the drink at mamajuanaenergy.com.

-- Rumored contestants for the next "Dancing with the Stars" including Florence Henderson of The Brady Bunch, Chyna, the former WWE wrestler and current resident on Celebrity Rehab, and Brooke Hogan.

-- Senshi and Rick Steiner were both removed from the TNA's roster page on their official website, so both appear to be done with the company as of now.

-- WWE RAW superstar Paul London has been out nursing a foot injury. He is expected to return in a few weeks.

@KillerKabel So it isnt Kennedy that injured him, it was himself, so why did you say "So that 'Kennedy Kennedy' can injure him again.

@Running Man No, i think it is more like, whenever Finlay is put into something it is automatically made boring and everyone avoids watching it.

Taking a whole new angle here, i really want to see Paul London and Brian Kendricks back as Tag Champions and wtf is up with Morrison and Miz being champs, they suck and they dont even like each other. I say get rid of them and bring in some new, better champs

This is gonna be interesting. I'm putting all my money on Cena seeing that he is yet to lose at WrestleMania and I don't think it's gonna happen this time either.

Cena winning back the title from Orton at No Way Out seems inevitable. Cena never lost the title in the first place, so it's gotta be back with the Champ. smile.gif

Yes, I really do think you don't understand what he's saying.

Unfortunately, Cena is the only high-card wrestler who even resembles a world champion, and that's why he keeps getting the belt. I don't know if the problem is the bookers not pushing the right talent or the talent pool being void of its namesake, but there is a serious lack of superstars right now.

TNA by far is the worst wrestling company ever. IMO.

Reasons why, is I watched it last night and I can't believe Bubby Ray Dudley had the nerve to say, he was once a boy, then he was a "man" in ECW, then a "legend" in WWE, and then a "God" in TNA... I mean come on, WWE has existed since 1952. TNA has been out since 2002. If you watched it you would know what I mean.

And that "Shark Boy". Was imitating Stone Cold. With the beer and giving the bird to the crowd. I thought that was messed up.

Austin is a legend.

And Michaels really needs to snag the belt at WrestleMania. I don't like the idea of Michaels vs. Flair. I just think that match would suck.

I've not long finished watching the Rumble, my *sources* weren't quick enough before RAW came on and spoilt it for me. I liked it myself, but then I've always liked the Royal Rumble's. But I really am getting bored of Orton being the WWE Champion, it will be good to see Cena whoop his backside. I never really watched the wrestling then but that JBL bores the sh*t out of me, he's got such a monotonous voice and he doesn't really have a 'style' either, he just plods along and try's to be something, but I just don't get it.

But I have to agree with Claude GTA3, Kane is one mean mother, I think he'd knock Orton out if he was in RAW.

And I also agree with Waddy, they don't seem very good at twisting these days, I still maintain the fact that when it comes to the Big 'Main Events' like the Rumble, Wrestlemainia, Summerslam, Survivor Series etc, they should throw the script out the window and just let them do it for real, then when it comes to RAW, Smackdown and EC'Smackdown'W that's when the script is used, so if they want x to be the Main Event at PPV event, then it's worked out via the weekly shows, but if x fails to win the title at Main, then a month later in the Weekly x wins it. Makes the Pay-Per-View events unpredictable and very interesting, and also keeps interest in the Weeklies as this is where the qualification stuff happens.

[email protected] Then what do you think about this whole, Finlay with Hornswoggle(Spelling?), thingy?

I don't really like it confused.gif

Just because they're both Irish, doesn't mean Finlay should give a crap...

I always saw Finlay as sort of a heel, but that's probably just because of him only going after one part of the body...

And, heels shouldn't help elfs... Just not right... mercie_blink.gifsuicidal.gif

And ^^ + ^^^@ I know, Austin is a true legend, Sharkboy is just lame, seriously...

And that's the bottom line, 'cause Stone Cold says so

SmackDown [email protected]

How awesome was it to see the Brothers of Destruction back together?

I wonder if Undertaker will be using "that" move alot?

And, why are Deuce and Deuce even in SD? They are just so lame.

And the Shannon Moore and that Cowboy Ninja dude, what the f*ck...

And now, Retardo/Psycho Festus and his partner will be back... Damn!

SD seriously need some, well, respectable tag teams...

I know what you mean. I watched the 99 Rumble this morning. Man, I miss Ken Shamrock.

-KillerKabel: I'm actually growing pretty tired of the Hornswoggle storyline. It was good for a sideshow thing, but it doesn't need that much TV time. But then again, Vince needs his exposure.

-Croke: Shooting the matches at the PPVs would pretty much ruin the scripted excitement, would be awkward (or dangerous) for less experienced or less skilled wrestlers, ruin any long-term booking, and tear apart the fabric of kayfabe that's been in existence for about a century.

I'm saying that Vince wants his usual hour of on-camera time every week. I probably should have said "wants" instead of "needs" in that sentence.

This topic, youtube comments, wrestling forums elsewhere, everyone is really talking bad about the WWE everywhere I look. Does anyone think a possibility is that we're all just old wrestling fans who want the 1990s back? The WWE must still have some merit since it apparently still makes a boatload of money. Maybe we're just the dying breed of fan who misses the more attitude-oriented style of the WWF, and the WWE is taking things in a new direction looking for fans of a different kind?

Just thoughts on it. Because I really would like wrestling to be interesting for me, but I don't think it ever will.

I think, to truely be sastified, you sort of have to settle for what you're given. Not everything the WWE does is bad compared to the 90's. Some fans look on that period with rose-colored glasses and ignore all the equally stupid stuff they did (I mean, Mae Young giving birth to a hand?). If you live in the past you're not going to like anything. Sometimes you gotta let things go.

As far as changing for a new generation of fans, I'm sure there were a lot of old-school NWA fans who got pissed off when Hulk Hogan dominated the wrestling world with leg drops and no-selling.

The mid-80's and earlier were more about wrestling than the media (promos, celebs, and what not). Now, not that WWE targeting the media more nowadays is bad, it's just that sometimes it's too much and kind of wrecks it. some of the gimicks these days are pretty lame too, along with the occasional stupid storyline. I think the WWE itself misses the "good years", as they were (and still are) trying to bring older wrestlers back inside younger wrestlers' bodies: Cena = Hulk Hogan, Big Show = Andre the Giant, etc.

I miss the 90's too (and the first couple Smackdown! video games tounge.gif).

-- News, Notes, & Stuff --

- With WWE’s recent switch to High Definition there have been many complaints about several cable providers not offering the USA Network or Sci-Fi channel in HD. Humorously enough, Cablevision, the cable provider that services the Greenwich, CT area, including Vince McMahon’s family mansion, does not offer either network in High Definition. No doubt that Vince could get the shows in HD via satellite; it’s still likely he’s not thrilled about his own cable provider not offering the service

- Here are the updated WWE DVD releases with the Sting and Savage DVDs being pulled:

* HHH: King of Kings, March 25th

* Superstar Profile, April 1st

* Evolution of the Hardys, May 6th

* The Rock, June 3rd

* Best of Starrcade, July 8th

* Life & Times of Mr. Perfect, September 9th

* Complete Hell (Hell in a Cell anthology), October 7th

* Edge, November 4th

- TNA iMPACT! may start going live every other week as soon as March. If this does happen the tapings will be moved to Thursday and Friday.

- Spike TV is interested in airing a secondary TNA show that focuses only on the Knockouts. The show would air matches, photo shoots, interviews and more. It would most likely air on Saturday night's.

- Former TNA talent Senshi aka Low Ki injured his knee during last night's New Japan event.

- Everyone backstage are finding the Sharkboy/Steve Austin skits hilarious, but don't see it as a long term deal. TNA recently made Sharky several new Austin like outfits.

- Robert Roode's new manager Peyton Banks is working without a contract and is being paid per appearance. She is expected to sign one soon.
