Unfortunately WWE has gone to extreme lengths to make sure all matches from the "Cena Is God" era are removed from YouTube and probably other video sharing websites around the internet, citing "copyright infringement." icon13.gif Logic dictates that if a new fan was searching for "WWE/WWF" on YouTube and one of the classics popped up, wouldn't you want the potential fan to be able to view the match?

The Pizza Delivery Guy

I'm still scratching my head over the Big Show heel turn. Last time I saw RAW Show was fired. Then he returned as a heel. Later on he became face again and has gone heel again? That's quite the bi-polar wrestler you got there WWE.

I was hoping for an Orton, Sheamus, or Del Rio heel turn, because their personalities and fighting styles are heel based. Besides, Del Rio as a face is almost as absurd as The Miz face. The Miz is a face? I sooner expected Cena to go heel than the Miz being face.

I wouldn't call it a heel turn since Big Show was already heel.

Yes, Del Rio bores me as a face, and he really doesn't look right being one. Its just like HHH years back. He's good as a face, but just superb and badass as a heel. Same with Orton. Some guys just seem like they are meant to be heels and heels only.

Triple H was awesome as a heel. His feud with Shawn Michaels was epic! I think Triple H and Shawn Michaels should have one more match.

Also Evolution was an awesome heel stable icon14.gif

Stone Cold Steve Austin Vs. Dude Love at Over The Edge: In You House 1998, quality match. I'm loving 1998, can't wait to get to 1999 though!

I'm on a classics trip myself, I've been watching all the PPV's and things like Saturday Nights Main Event since 1984, I'm currently up to Survivor Series 1994... turns out I was correct about Wrestlemania 29... it was like it's predecessor of 20 years previous Wrestlemania 9... crap.

Apparently, Chris Hero, Adam Neville and Bray Wyatt are all potential call ups into the WWE sometime in the near future

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1601068...al-nxt-call-ups

Ohno is excellent and would pair up nicely again with Cesaro, Adrian Neville is a proper high flyer and would certainly give Kofi and Botch Cara a run for their money. As for Bray Wyatt, he would work brilliantly in the main roster provided they actually do what they've not done with other promotees and actually keep his theme and gimmick as it is in NXT.

I'll do my reviews of Wrestlemania, Raw and the other weeklies later, I've caught up with Wrestlemania (quick preview: crap) and Raw (quick preview: best episode of Raw for many, many years), or to put it this way

Wrestlemania XXIX: D-

Raw: A++

or as an editor on a fansite I visit said, if WWE could roll the clock back, they should give Wrestlemania away for free and charge for Raw.

A bit late, yeah...but as Gareth I've been quite busy lately. I'll try to do a review on both WM and RAW, since they were quite entertaining [actually for the former it was mostly Taker/Punk].

WWE makes a worth-watching pre-show - they set up a pre-game-esque show with a panel of experts, JR, Kofi and Dusty. If they actually decide to do pre-shows in a similar manner [specially for my 2nd favourite PPV Extreme Rules], then I'll be watching whole hour/half an hour-long show. Also Matt Striker is very, very good on commentary. He used to be part of the commentary team for PPVs though, I still remember his "I'M TOTALLY MARKING OUT, BRO" moment a couple of years back. Anyways, moving on to the IC match.

Wade Barrett © vs. The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship

For an hour-long pre-show, I was expecting more than 6 minutes of actual wrestling. However it was a decent match, The Miz winning by submission after locking in his four figure lock. It would've been better if Barrett retained in my opinion - but boy oh boy what happened the next night. Anyways my rating would be 7.1/10.

The Shield vs. Big Show, Sheamus and Randy Orton

The Shield were expected to win this one, but at least with a heel turn from Orton. So what happened? same old, same old win for either the team being dysfunctional or an illegal move which knocks out whoever it is. And as always Bog Show stormed out of the ring in anger after weapon-of-mass-destructioning Shorton. I'd give it a 7.7/10 just because of that huge spear from Show.

Ryback vs. Mark Henry

Great build up, disappointing match up. I seriously don't know why the creative booked for Ryback to lose and Shell shock Henry afterwards. What's the point? 6.7/10.

Team Hell No © vs. Dolph Ziggler and Big E Langston for the WWE Tag Team Championship

It was a decent match, though I was expecting Big E and Ziggie to win. Langstone showed his talent, this guy has a long road ahead of him in the WWE. Oh and Team Hell no retained. Maybe if they had the tag team name vote on the post-WM RAW, the fans would've chosen Team Friendship. 7.3/10.

Fandango vs. Chris Jericho

I fell asleep during Fandango's entrance, and I had to watch the rest the next day due to busting my ass open the day before. Anyways this was an interesting match up [as expected], and Fandango won on his in-ring WWE debut [as expected]. Can't say I haven't expected that one. 8.1/10.

Alberto Del Rio © vs. Jack Swagger for the World Heavyweight Championship

Colter looked like an Al-jazeera reporter at Guantanamo with that outfit. Also as always they skipped Swagger's entrance.

Anyways uhm...I was really hoping for Swagger to win, ADR is very bland as a face. 7.6/10.

The Undertaker vs CM Punk for the Streak

Match of the f*cking night. So good that I watched the whole match again, so good I that I re-watched Taker's entrance more than once. tounge.gif CM Punk was spectacular on this match, too bad he came out injured. Loved Taker's tombstone counter to the GTS, and when Punk knocked him out with the urn and the ref started counting, I almost literally jumped out of my seat. I haven't been as excited for a match since Taker's WM27 fight with HHH which I've posted several times now - unlike WM28's, that match actually seemed it was going to end. Anyways Undertaker has been unbeaten for over 3 years now, whether it is officially the longest unbeaten run or not I don't know, but this guy is a legend. 9.5/10 for the match.

Triple H Vs Brock Lesnar

This was another great match, 2nd best right after Taker/Punk. Too bad it had to end the very predictable end with HHH winning. Lesnar beefed up since last year, and he took the beating and converted it into a pile of excretion - he wasn't even remotely injured. 8.4/10. But, the big question is - what's next for him? Before the Rock at WM30?

The Rock vs. John Cena for the WWE Championship

This one we already knew it's outcome, and to be honest the last couple of minutes of the match with Cena and Rock going back and forth with their signature moves and finishers was quite entertaining. I'd give it a 8.0/10.

As for the show in general, I'd give it a 8/10. Perhaps it was quite predictable, but it was damn entertaining - well, to me.

There was a post-show, same system as the pre-show, with the panel of experts analyzing and sharing their thoughts about the matches and whatnot, in addition to some backstage interviews. The most memorable one to me was Jericho's - and Swagger/Colter's because Tony Dawson started asking Swagger whether he should've won- and then apparently they had to "go back" to the panel and they were finished, and he looked like he was about to cry. Colter thought otherwise as he kept saying "no we're not finished" and the panel of experts were shaking their head other the whole situation. I can't believe I've typed more on this than the main event of Wrestlemania.

RAW was almost perfect, and the crowd made it even more exciting to watch. I'll post a review tomorrow, perhaps with a SD! review as well, I've never been as excited as I am now for an Smackdown show.

Also there has been some interesting news/rumours as of late, some involving RVD signing a 2 year contract, others [and my personal favorites] involving the Undertaker.

So I'm watching Smackdown right and my 1st thought is "Dolph Ziggler finally hit puberty"

Smackdown is interesting this week but still who's in gods green earth is booking this crap you got HHH coming out and then 3MB coming out and saying there gunna beat down HHH but The Shield come out and beat up 3MB and surround HHH and Hell No come out to safe HHH.

what a sh*t way to end Smackdown

RAW was off the hook.

Cena comes out and gets a rather unusual mixed reaction, mostly boos and some wee bits of kiddie chants here and there. He cracks some jokes, heel turn references, etc etc till Henry's music starts. He demands a WWE championship match tonight [but we know Vince], so it didn't happen. Instead we get Booker T offering Henry a shot at the World...err, WWE title only if he beats Cena clean.

Also unexpectedly the Undertaker is on RAW TONIGHT! This really got me hyped. Anyways onwards to our first match-up since WM:

Daniel Bryan vs. Big E Langston

This seemed more like a squash/jobbing match, just to push Big E. I don't see How the "Big Ending" inflicts any damage to his opponents, he's basically holding them on his shoulder all the way to the mat.

Wade Barrett vs. The Miz © for the Intercontinental Championship

One word: Awesome. It's about time the creative took a detour from their predictable writing and booked this amazing match. The fans were completely behind Barrett which made it even better when he pinned the Miz. What a pop.

Zeb Colter & Jack Swagger vs. Alberto del Rio

Decent match up, a filler for what's up coming - and that's Ziggler cashing in. The crowd were going nuts Ziggler was about to cash in.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Alberto del Rio © for the World Heavyweight Championship

It may have been a two minute match, but it was even more exciting than most of WM's matches. The bell rings, Ziggler goes directly to ADR's ankle, and hits the Fameasser - which at this point everyone thought it was over - but Del Rio kicks out! And he connects with a kick right to the back of Ziggler's head, the ref counts...but Ziggie KICKED OUT! And out of nowhere here's ADR with the cross arm breaker! At this point I thought it was over, but thanks to ADR's bad ankle Ziggler and hits him with the Zig Zag, 1-2-3 - New champion. This was the biggest pop I've heard since The Rock returned.

The Undertaker comes out and gets a great reaction from a crowd I expected to be split 50/50, just like Wrestlemania's. He dedicates the match to the memory of Paul Bearer, a guy who he has the utmost respect for, then...The Shield's music hits. Could this show get any better? Yes it can. Instead of the usual arrive beat up and leave routine, Kane and Bryan are out and the Shield retreats. Could it get any better? YES. Usually when you have someone as Taker in the ring they usually go for a fight, but this time it's different - it seemed more of a new storyline building up. We may just, just [and you guys have no idea how excited this makes me] see a 3-man tag team match with Undertaker. Also what an awesome pic that was. sly.gif

Santino, Zack Ryder & R-Truth vs. 3MB

Jobbing/Filler. The crowd was excited to see Ryder though.

Randy Orton vs. Sheamus

Match of the night - just because of the crowd. They started with a "Boring" in an "Ole" style chant, RVD [who may have signed a 2 year contract], Mike Chioda the referee in which he smiles and Orton has a frustrated look on his face, EC-Dub, Randy Savage, and Justin Roberts and XPac's ass (biggrin.gif) during the commercial break - most of which the commentators had no idea what were they chanting, till they started with the JBL/Jerry/Cole chants. They went on and on and even started chanting "We are awesome" - and indeed they were. You know the best thing about all these chants? It's Vince losing his mind and ripping his hair apart backstage. He needs to realize that the fans are sick of these matches.

Big Show's music hits, and man oh man what a pop he got. He WMDs Sheamus and Orton and we start hearing [and this one's going straight to the books] the "Thank you Big Show" chants, in addition to "Holy sh*t" chants and "One more chair" chants as well.

Fandango vs. Kofi Kingston

“DO DO, DO-DO DO DO DO, DO-DO-DO" The crowd humming Fandango's entrance music is the only thing I could remember from the match - well, aside for Y2J attacking him and getting a huge pop.

Heyman is interviewed in which he talks about how Lesnar got out of his fight with HHH with nothing other than bruises and they should be talking about CM Punk - who should speak for himself tonight *crowd starts cheering* but he'll do it next week *boos*. What a playa'.

Team Rhodes Scholars & Bella Twins vs. Tons of Funk & Funkadactyls

Another filler match. The crowd wasn't really bothered either.

Mark Henry vs. John Cena

Henry's getting all the cheers, contrary to Cena. Cena wins by count-out, Henry with the WSM, Ryback's music hits, huge pop, spinebuster, shakes Cena's head, Cena celebrates - then BAM! Shellshock on that bitch all over the place. Who would've thought we'd see the same main event for two WMs in a row, and the post-WM RAW ending with Cena F5ed and Shellshocked? Plus who would've thought [and this one's for the creative] we'd hear the crowd chanting Feed me more and singing Fandango's theme after Ryback's heel turn? I think they may have expected the former, considering last year. Vince probably was so close to having a heart attack.

Best PG-era RAW. 9.8/10. Looks like the creative knew WM was quite predictable and tried to fix that up the next night, I gotta give it to them.

Also those fans are the true WWE fans. They had a chance to sing and dance their way out of the arena as Fandango's music hits yet again after Roberts thanks them for coming. biggrin.gif I'm already starting to get goosebumps just from hearing the theme.

But just imagine how Fandango [i forgot the guy's real name] feels, after winning his WWE debut and the fans singing his theme song.

Anyways I'm yet to watch SD!, but judging from billy's post it's not as good as RAW.

First - Quite "Rebel" looking, would be seen as a bit of heel belt

Second - Looks more like a watch

Third - Like it, quite a retro look to it, similar to the pre-Wrestlemania belt

Forth - Too Anime looking

Fifth - Very different and a big departure from the normal silver, gold, black look

Flesh-n-Bone
Is Fandangoing going to become the new Harlem Shake type of thing?

Nah, it's just the new "YES!".

So disappointed at Wrestlemania and the lack of heel turns from Orton or Cena.

So Punk wasn't on RAW because Vince was scared from the crowd's reaction to him? Seriously?

I'm not sure what this guy's trying to do, but the crowd deserved to see Punk. Besides the following week we'll just get a dead crowd as always.

Pre-Show

The Miz v Wade Barrett - Intercontinental Championship

-Not a bad match to warm up the event, I must be in the minority that prefers The Miz as a face, fairly even match which I'm thinking the WWE let The Miz win simply because it's the opening match and the face usually wins the opener to get the crowd warmed up. Plus fact for the day, apart from a Dark Match which took place at Wrestlemania 25 so technically doesn't count, The Miz now has the second longest Wrestlemania streak behind The Undertaker... although this will be eclipsed in a few years Faaan-Daaaan-Go-oo

Main Show

Sh-Ort-Mus v The Shield

-Not a bad match to start things off, apparently they were up until a few weeks ago going to put this down as a first loss for The Shield, but I think they made the right choice by letting them win. Was kind of expecting a blow up between Sheamus and Orton, but I think the choice to have Big Show knock them out was better as it keeps his heel position and it lets Orton and Sheamus build up their feud later, at best guess I would probably go for a feud match at Summerslam (a taster was given at Raw the next night)

Ryback v Big Show

-Again Ryback has been screwed at a PPV, they better give Ryback a good pay off, he's been busting his ass for years and has the gimmick to be monster (not monster heel but a monster) and then they consistently get him to lose the big PPV matches. I know they are probably trying that make him look powerful but lose the big chances, so when he does get the big chance he'll run with it for ages thing, but it isn't working as they've put him in those big chances and the screwed him. Anywho overall decent match a little slow in parts but they're big hitters so what do you expect, Henry got a clunky win but Ryback did the icing on the cake thing, to try and make him still look strong confused.gif

Hell No v Zig E Langston - Tag Team Titles

-Nice start I like how they tried to do a little piss take on last years Daniel Bryan's screwjob, overall a good match Langston showing he's a beast (although please get rid of that ring gear, get the shorts back, I can see his breakfast). This was one of the matches in a highly predictable event that I thought they might twist, but they didn't and judging by the next night I can see why, Hell No takes it.

Y2J v Faaan-daaan-go-oo

-He starts the streak, Fandango is 1-0, a little over two more decades to go then. Great match second best of the night, which no offense to the both of them, wasn't hard considering the whole event wasn't much better than a standard episode of Raw (although not the next nights Raw). Only one snaffoo when Jericho missed the Lionsault, however Fandango sneaked the win in an entertaining match in which both of them played it out nicely.

Del Rio v Swagger

-Can't remember much about this match except Del Rio won and Swagger didn't, nothing really interesting, and this match was never going to be interesting anyway.

The Undertaker v CM Punk

-Best match of the night as was expected to be, this match could only have been better if The Undertaker had some warm up matches before it as he was looking a little rusty but then considering the injuries he's had and sadly age does catch up to all of us it's hardly surprising. But without sounding all arty farty this one was all about the story not the match, Punk played it nicely by not showing any fear which was a real difference maker considering previous Mania opponents have done, I also like the subtle touch by Punk of the purple and black attire, a little hark back to Takers early days. Taker did ultimately take the win, although he's going to be at Raw next week, this is probably the best time for Punk to take some much needed time off.

Triple H v Brock Lesnar

-This match was pretty much how you'd expect it to play out, quite predictable throughout (Bret Hart would have predicted this play for play), nothing special, a usual sort of no holds barred match... did like how they got Skinny Brock Guy in the crowd again. Apparently white stuff on Trips stomach when he came to to the ring was dry ice and he's got burns as a result... whoops, although it does hurt like a motherf*cker, I've had it myself, so props for him not showing it. Other than that, nothing interesting.

The Rock v Cena - WWE Title

-Basically a replay of last year, except with the reverse result, really nothing else to add, except I think I can see when The Rock did his abductor muscle, and considering he also did abdominal muscle I will have to tip my hat to him.

Overall not a great event, only the Taker v Punk and Y2J v Fandango matches were anything of note

-------

Weeklies reviews to follow

EDIT:

So Punk wasn't on RAW because Vince was scared from the crowd's reaction to him? Seriously?

I'm not sure what this guy's trying to do, but the crowd deserved to see Punk. Besides the following week we'll just get a dead crowd as always.

Could well do, unless they want to compete with that crowd this week, however the week after they're here in Blighty, so we should get a good crowd again.

"They should have given Wrestlemania away for free and charged for Monday Night Raw" - Cageside Seats Editor

-And I fully agree

This weeks Raw is going down on record for me as being one of the best Raw's... I would say in a long time, but to be honest I can't remember one as good as this, I really do not think that Cole and King knew how to handle it, JBL was just rolling with it and loved every second, King and Cole I think were trying to be 'company lining', but I think towards the end of the night, they must have got word to just go with it.

The show opened with John Cena making is post Wrestlemania celebration, to a well up for it crowd, and they were just getting started. The crowd seemed to be sarcastically cheering and booing at the same time, and this wasn't the usual lets go Cena, Cena sucks chants this was whole'nother level. Fully expecting someone to copy his new shirt and take the belt away and replace it with The Chump is here, so it points to your wiener. Cena was on form as well when it came to warming the crowd up including the little reference to a heel turn, also a warmer upper to reference Ric Flair. Then a call out to anyone to wants the fight, and I wasn't really expecting Mark Henry (could you of imagined if it was Ziggler with the crowd the way they were), but the crowd again was on form, the Sexual Chocolate chants were brilliant and so was Cena's reply about the crowd wanting sex with chocolate and eating more. Cena accepts the challenge with a breath quip, only for Booker-T to spoil the party... surprised he didn't put a no contact clause in there, then a great comeback from Cena "Once in a lifetime best of three?"... total smark move.

Bryan v Big E Langston (using Zigglers music for now, thankfully that changes this week)

-Bryan was in heaven with the crowd, the smile on his face said it all. Big E came down and accidentally hit AJ while he was stretching, whoops. Big E showed that he is a beast, but he really does need the shorts back and also knee pads, his gear looks a little out of place with out them. The Yes chants were on fire tonight, Big E got the win with his Big End... oo-er missus.

The Miz v Wade Barrett - Intercontinental Championship rematch

-So did they just let Miz win the IC to warm the crowd up... well sorta, he's going off in a few weeks to do some filming for a Christmas movie, so there you have it. They mentioned that it was a very European crowd... well no it was a very British crowd the En-ger-lund chants during the match proved it, plus I don't know where JBL gets this "Right in the Boat" phrase from, no one here uses it, plus don't know where King got the Compere thing from, cause we don't use that either... Mary Poppins has a lot of sh*t to answer for. Barrett wins the title back after what was a much better match than the previous night, crowd marked out as well.

Sheamus and Orton both begging Brickie and Booker respectively for a match with The Big Show... where's Teddy when you need him, Tag Match playa, playa.

Coulter/Swagger v Del Rio

-This match itself wasn't that entertaining, much like the night before, it did however set up probably the best moment this year, the match was quite back and forth and, however Del Rio was getting his ankle busted wide open, and it got to the point that you could tell that it was a setup, and not one person minded as we knew it was going to happen and we just let it. Cole was 'Company Lining' when the crowd were chanting Ziggler and he was saying they are behind Del Rio... yeah that old chestnut. Del Rio did manage to eventually get the cross arm breaker in on Swagger to make him tap out, and this just cemented the point when he couldn't even stand up at the end of the match... POP...

Ziggler cashes in and the reaction was just spine tingling, the way he delivered the case to the ref was brilliantly played, it was a small thing, but made it awesome.

Ziggler v Del Rio

-Del Rio was a lame duck, although I do have to give my props to all involved in this one by Del Rio not giving it up without a fight, it made it so much more dramatic. Ziggler busts his leg and then pulls off the Zig Zag 1, 2, 3... crowd go ballistic and the reaction from AJ was sweet as well. When they comes to do another Best of Raw collection this will be very high up there.

The Undertaker comes out to make his post Wrestlemania speech only to be interrupted by The Shield, which leads Kane... and Bryan to come out. Yes Bryan, he is so over now, it was like Bryan was welcomed into the family, it was sweet. The Shield ran off quick, but I think this could be leading to a match on Raw in two weeks when they are in London, it will be The Shield v The Brothers of Hell No Destruction, which I think will lead to the first defeat for The Shield, that's how I'd work it, simply because this could be The Undertaker's last UK appearance, so they will look to make it memorable.

3MB v Ryder/Santino/Truth

-The only disappointment in the whole night, but when the rest of the night was that damned good I'm not going to let this one spoil the ratings. However I could see this going on a trio, simply for the comedy value, as 3MB are chronically bad, and Santino, Ryder and Truth can do the comedy shtick.

Sheamus v Randy Orton

-Wasn't going to be this, but a WWE Universe screw job made it this way after Booker and Vickie made it Sheamus v Orton, even after a 'vote', winner takes on The Big Show. They dropped the ball on the setup and even the crowd really went against it, didn't matter as the crowd kept themselves entertained with ole chants and chants for Cole, King, JBL, Mike Chioda, Justin Roberts and anyone else who wasn't wrestling at the time. The match ended up a no contest after Big Show turned up (Thank You Big Show chants ensued) and did a beat down on both of them, but mainly Randy Orton, so I guess we''l be getting a Triple Threat No DQ at Extreme Rules then, which could be the start of Orton's much awaited heel turn.

Faan-daan-go-oo v Kofil Kingston

-He's here, the future of WWE, this crowd could not love this guy any more...

Da-daa... da-da... da-da-da-da...

The crowd were well up for Fandangoing... hats of Jim Johnston, you've pulled of a great entrance theme. Jericho comes in and wants his payback as well a slice of the crowd reaction himself, including a nice passing back JBL's hat to him, crowd lapped it up, even a chant for the lionsault. Y2J chants, Fandango chants, even JBL made reference to the Smarks in the crowd. Fandango iced the cake with his mic work at the end.

Heyman announces that Punk won't be there that night, much to the dismay of the crowd, but I could see that coming anyway.

Rhodes Scholars/The Bellas v Tons of Funk/Funkadactyls

-There were some cheers when The Rhodes Scholars came out, much of which I think was aimed at Sandow. The crowd meanwhile were still Fandangoing, so didn't really pay any attention to the match, I would liked to have seen this before Fandango's match so Sandow could have got more of a pop.

Mark Henry v John Cena

-Fairly decent match, which ultimately lead to Henry losing due to a count out, a nice little dance to the crowd who were still Fandangoing by Cena hyped the crowd up more, the return of sexual chocolate chants also great. Ultimately the count out happened and that only led to Ryback coming out and finishing off his feud with Henry, who rolled out the ring after a spine buster. Then a stare down with Cena, in which Ryback helped him up and the crowd thought that was it... no they didn't they knew it was a work to lead to an exclamation point by Ryback. Ryback shellshocks Cena and the up yours by Ryback was a brilliant Attitude Era throwback.

The announce team kept saying the WWE universe, but as someone else pointed out on a IWC site I visit, "No, that wasn't the WWE Universe that was wrestling fans there tonight"

Seriously I can't go on about how good this edition was, it had it all, perhaps the start of the Peoples Era is good thing, the PG era could be dead and the Peoples Era could well be the start of a new direction.

Yeah, I don't think we're going to see a RAW as this one in a long time, at least till next year's. A RAW where the fans made Johnny Curtis.

Also we have RVD back, and rumours concerning Batista returning and feuding with Lesnar. If this happens, PLEASE let it be an Extreme Rules match.

This people's era is off to a good start.

PS Y'all remember/be familiar with this match?

The era that The Rock mentioned, personally I think it's still the PG Era as nothing has changed recently. It's still PG, still boring, still corny and still with Cena as the bland babyface champ. The People's Era is just to make people think things are going to get better so they don't leave the WWE.
