Forty
His system never caught on in Atlanta. I don't think he has the makings of an NFL coach. He's a great recruiter, and he should ultimately be more successful in the college ranks. He is taking a big pay cut to leave the NFL, so it's obvious he wasn't happy and knew he was better off in the minor leagues. What a sh*tty f*cking week for Arthur Blank, eh? First Vick's sentencing and now this. P.S. @ Rashon - Nice PTI reference. That is the best sports talk show in the industry. I hope it never gets cancelled or re-cast. I think I've seen it every day for the last four or five years. It's the only show I watch daily. Edited December 12, 2007 by 40ozFreak

I hope it never gets cancelled or re-cast. I think I've seen it every day for the last four or five years. It's the only show I watch daily. PTI is good. I try to watch it as often as I can, but sometimes I simply forget and end up watching the NFL Network. Around the Horn used to be good about 4 years ago. It got bad when Tony Reali took over for Max Kellerman. Reali always takes points away for the stupidest reasons, and it isn't just one point, most times he takes away three, four, even five points at a time! You can go from being in the next round to not making the cut. I don't like that show, but I continue to watch solely for the opinions of the writers. Anyway... @ Cuban: I think the Vikings will make the last wild card seed in the NFC. The Giants are doing well also, and their record is simply better than the Vikes'. I just think that Minnesota is better than any other "contender" in the NFC, especially the way their defense has been playing. As long as the defense stops people, and as long as All Day Peterson and Chester Taylor keep runnin' the rock, they're as good as in. [Edit] My bad, I misread what Cuban said. I think Minnesota could get out of the first round. If they played the Seahawks I think they would win. The defense is playing great and the running game is incredible. Tavaris Jackson isn't the best quarterback but he is managing the offense very well. He just needs to continue with the play action and throw the ball to Sidney Rice, with that running game play action could work on every snap. If you miss PTI, it re-airs an hour later on ESPN News. Also every night around 7pm Central, video.espn.com uploads each segment to the site and you can watch them in order, Youtube style. That's how I watch the show most days lately since I've been working while it's on. Around the Horn just isn't very good. Reali doesn't bother me at all because it's not even a real competition. It's just for goofs, and none of the writers care. He also gives lots of points while taking lots away, so it evens out. Most people end up with pretty even scores. Attorney General
Well Minnesota has been real hot as of late. Lets assume they get in the playoffs, how far do you think they can go? A good running game and a good run defense could take them into the divisional round, but I'd take Dallas or Green Bay over them at this point. Still, those bulls Kevin and Pat Williams on the D-line are probably my favorite D-tackle tandem in the league...not to mention Antoine Winfield is as sure a tackler as any corner in the league. Love watching that D play. Out of curiosity, are you a Vikings fan Cuban?

Runey
Bobby Petrino quit as Falcons head coach. The guy has no loyalty at all, and I realize that coaching is a carousel, but quitting in the middle of the season is low. If I was a general manager/athletic director, I wouldn't even consider him for a coaching job. He's too damn disloyal. He changes jobs like underwear. All I am saying is that the people at Arkansas better be prepared for him to fly the coop if another job opens, because he'll do it in a heartbeat. Edited December 13, 2007 by Runey. Iminicus
Okay, it isn't that far away. Which teams do you think are going to the Super Bowl? I, only ask because here in New Zealand, I miss all the regular season games and I will miss the play offs. I do follow the scores, when the paper publishes them, however I never get any commentary or analysis of the games. So, your favorites for the Super Bowl? Rashon.
I think the Patriots and the Packers will make it. I say the Packers since Brett Favre is having the season of his career. The Cowboys would be the ones 13-0 if they never lost to the Patriots but for some reason, I don't see them making it.
Bartleby
I say the Packers since Brett Favre is having the season of his career. D'you really think so? I mean, for a guy who's won a Super Bowl in his prime, that's kind of a big statement to make. Do you think Green Bay is a legitimate contender for the Championship this season? Because while I do understand the Packers are doing unusually well this season, I don't think they'll get far into the postseason. This seems to me like the one last good season of Brett Favre. J3zz
I just discovered this sport, and i like it man. I never liked soccer, and unfortunately that is the only sport they care about here in europe and netherlands. I start to understand it more and more, and it looks quite interesting, and its way more fun that soccer(which sucks imo) So lemme get this, you have 4 attempts to get to the end zone, and make a touchdown, and if an other team gets the ball, the other team sends in their uh, attack line or something and they have 4 attempts(downs?) to get to the end zone, right? Too bad this sport isnt broadcasted here...

Its 4 attempts to get a first down(when you get it, you get another set of 4 dattempts) and so on until you either get a touchdown or close enough to a field goal(3 points). Runey
In all honesty, I think football is the best sport in the world...(I'm biased because I play it, so sue me). Anyway, The default distance for 1st down is 10 yards. The "line of scrimmage" is where the ball is placed, and is snapped back, usually to the quarterback, and as long as he is behind the line of scrimmage, he can pass the ball downfield. Or another option is to run the football, which is done by halfbacks and fullbacks. Halfbacks are usually the smaller, faster running back, and the fullback is the larger running backs used for situations like 2nd and 3rd and 1. If 4th down occurs, teams usually do not go for the first down, instead they will punt or kick a field goal, depending on situation, and field position. If it is 4th down and 6 at their own 34 yard line, the team doesn't want to risk giving the ball to the other team at that field position, so they will punt. Anyway, any more, feel free to ask me, or any of the other NFL guys here.
Iminicus
Watched the 49ers v Bengal game today. Not sure if it was from Sat Evening or not. Was great to watch a game. Not very exciting. 49ers are playing extremely bad from what I saw and the Bengal offense is sh*t.
gta_player5
Watched the 49ers v Bengal game today. Not sure if it was from Sat Evening or not. Was great to watch a game. Not very exciting. 49ers are playing extremely bad from what I saw and the Bengal offense is sh*t. Frank Gore had a good game running behind the bad 49er o-line. Shaun Hill had a good game in his first start, whether it was against the poor Bengals' defense or not, he had a good game. The Bengals' just can't keep anything going consistently this season. The defense is piss poor, the offense is playing very inconsistently, and Carson Palmer and co. don't look as sharp this year as they did last. Chad Johnson has over 1,200 yards this season, but he only has 6 touchdowns. When you catch more than 80 passes for more than 1,200 yards, you should have more than 6 TD's. Ocho Cinco should have had another touchdown but he dropped that pass in the endzone when he hit the ground. Don't get me wrong, Chad is having a good season, but not a Chad Johnson like season. After this loss the Bengals can only finish 7-9 at best, making this the first losing season under Marvin Lewis.

gta_player5
1-13 mother f*ckers. First win of the season and with a 67 yard slant route to win it. Nice end to the Dolphins/Ravens game. I saw the field goal Matt Stover missed at the end after the Jets/Patriots game was over and after CBS also showed the end of the Jags/Steelers. I didn't watch the field goal though. I thought that since Matt Stover was taking the shot that it'd be good. After I look away I hear "The snap is high! Stover missed the kick, wide left!" Then CBS cut to commercial, when they got back they showed replays of the 67 yard pass play to win the game. Great ending.
