Dasutin
If you already have digital cable, it should only be about $4.99 to upgrade. And it wasn't the NFL that dangled it, it was your cable provider. NFL does want it to be a free channel, but the cable companies have the right to do whatever they want with things they don't own. Michael Vick Chew Toy: The Only Thing You Can Still Buy With Vick's Name on It Awesome Haha oh my god, that's funny. Revenge is a bitch huh? So the season is almost here. Forty
What the hell is the big deal? It's not like an NFL game on Thursday or Saturday night is some sort of egregious sacrilege. Personally, I loved the Thursday games because they helped break up the week a little bit. Besides, unless you guys have the Ticket, you only have the opportunity to see four games per normal week...why would you be against seeing a fifth? I just don't see the problem with football getting a little extra exposure. My only beef with the NFL is that they apparently dangled the NFL Network at me last year...it came free with the digital cable I pay for. This year...it's a pay channel. I haven't yet researched the prices, but if Dasutin is correct in his pricing of it...it'll be a "no go" for me too. Well, seeing only 4-5 games per week (for most people) wouldn't be a big deal if it weren't for the horrid and completely unnecessary blackout regulations from the FCC. All they do is keep people from seeing good teams on a national level. I'm in Houston, and I hardly ever get to see a single Chargers, Bengals, Jets, or Panthers game. I see a sh*t LOAD of NFC east games, and basically everything played in the AFC south. If not for ridiculous rules on what games play in what part of the country, I'd get to see a lot more. Some days, there are games playing yet CBS will black it out because it's not allowed here. One time last year, during the Bengals/Steelers game, I had to watch some sh*tty sci-fi drama instead of getting to see that game. What's the point of that? CBS should've been able to play it for me since nothing better was on. f*cking networks. I hate that sh*t.
Attorney General
I hear you bro. Almost all of the Steeler games are televised here in PA. But I still had to run out to a sports bar at the last minute to catch the first game between them and the Bengals. Why?...because I turned on the tube only to find that Corrina, Corrina was on CBS instead of the rivalry game. Wiggity whack!! And while we're bashing CBS, the last game of the season...Bengals-Steelers...heavy playoff implications and the whole nine. I don't know if you guys were watching too, but the game goes into OT...and trusty CBS cuts to a f#cking irrelevant Buffalo Bills game. So much for catering to your target audience. But I will give credit where it's due in saying that the flex scheduling is one of the most innovative and consumer-friendly ideas that the NFL has come up with lately. For that...I'm thankful. Flex scheduling is definitely a good idea. But I'm totally there with you on frustrating blackout issues. I mean, the only people that stand to benefit from it are the networks themselves. The sports fans, the ones who watch the f*cking games so those bigwigs can make their money, are the ones who suffer. If that Sunday Ticket wasn't so expensive I would be more apt to consider buying it.
beanmachine43
So the season is almost here. Are you guys ready for so f*ckin damn good football or is it only me? God yes. It was good to see the HoF game, but I can't wait for pre-season, as bad as that sounds. Going to keep watch all day on Sunday and have tickets for the 'Hawks/Raiders game too. And ffs I can finally listen to ESPN without mention of Bonds hitting the big one. Just in time too for pre-season.

Attorney General
Any Lions fans here? Jon Kitna, Calvin Johnson and the rest of the Detroit offense looked solid in their preseason debut. Lions beat the Bengals 27 to 26. Also on tonight was the Cowboys-Colts game. Dallas won the game 23-10. Romo looked sharp running the offense in the limited time he played. It's preseason, but hey...it won't be too much longer. I'm just thrilled we have some football to watch again!

I was thinking about it earlier, but I decided I don't want to join up in something that I may not have time for. Pretty soon I'll be spending a lot more time away from my computer with work, along with school starting up and all that. I'll be pulling for you this season though. Saw the Dallas game today too. Romo looked damn good today, only 1 incompletion I think? The interception at the beginning of the 2nd half was nice as well, ran 'em over even if it was only pre-season. I really think Dallas is going to be much more of a contender this year, possibly division champ.

I want to see if he's a Dante Hall or a Steve Smith. I prefer him at cornerback. I think he has more danger of getting hurt or wearing out at receiver, and he's too important to the Bears to risk on that. And now that they have Greg Olsen they don't really need that third threat as much.

And now that they have Greg Olsen they don't really need that third threat as much. He won't see much time in the regular season at receiver, unless some people get hurt. They also have a pretty good 3rd receiver Mark Bradley who came on at the the end of last year. So they already have 3 productive WR's plus Greg Olsen at tight end like 40oz said, so I think he was fine as a DB reserve. And is he going to have to change his number now being a WR? GTA3Rockstar
And is he going to have to change his number now being a WR? No, they've had weird numbered WRs, such as Keyshawn Johnson(19) & Jerry Rice(18) before retiring on the Broncos roster. Its all good

gta_player5
I couldn't watch the game between the Dolphins and the Jags, however, I caught the highlights on the Dolphins website. The passing game didn't look too hot out there, but what do you expect with some average receivers? I am pretty excited to see Lorenzo Booker play this year though, I know he'll be a #2 'back, but still he looked good in this preseason game, and hopefully we can see more of that this season. The defense looked good up front, but it appears that again this season the weak point on the defense is going to be the secondary. It's not the best of secondaries in the league, and is susceptible to getting passed on, hopefully the front seven can pressure quarterbacks into making poor throws this year. I had a look at the Dolphins' schedule and I see either a 7-9 season or an 8-8 season at best. I'm getting ready for football season, it's good to see it on t.v. again, I'm talking about live games too, because NFL Network gets old after a while when they continually show "NFL Game of the Week" from this past season. Forty
I tried to watch the Texans/Bears game, but the local ABC affiliate playing it was all snowy for some reason. All I've seen of football is in the highlights on ESPN.

gta_player5
They called it a helmet to helmet hit during the game. I don't think that it was, I just think that the NFL is doing all it can to try and protect the quarterback.
Runey
My Panthers looked very solid in their game. They converted their 3rd downs, which they struggled big time last year, ranking 32nd (out of 32 teams for NFL newbies). Looking good so far. Cause Leftwich still had the ball. i dont know, the ref said it was, but my brother said it wasnt (he knows more about football then i do, and he plays madden alot) the sad part is if it wasnt roughing the passer then the jags wouldnt have scored the touchdown on that drive, so the refs helped the Jags out, so i would just like to thank the NFL Refs Edited August 13, 2007 by matt11504

And that play was not roughing the passer, that is when the quarterback has already thrown the ball and you hit him. That play was unnecessary roughness because it was called a helmet to helmet hit. I don't think it was, there are a lot worse hits, but the NFL does all it can to try and protect the quarterback now.

That'll probably be a good game, but I'm looking forward to Baltimore/Philly more. Can't wait to see Troy Smith in his debut, and Kevin Kolb as well, who'll probably get alot of playing time since McNabb is out this game. The only thing that sucks about this game is that half of Philly's roster is Injured; L.J. Smith, Brian Dawkins, Lito Sheppard, and plenty more. beanmachine43
What's up with L.T. never suiting up for preseason games? I know without him San Diego wouldn't be nearly as good as they are right now, and if they lost him it would be a huge blow. Still, Madden or Michaels were right in saying it doesn't really send a good example to the younger players. Was a good game tonight though. I'm surprised my 'Hawks managed to win, even if it wasn't a game that hardly mattered. Hasselbeck looked nice with the 30+ yard TD to Deon Branch. Volek threw surpsingly well too when he came off the bench. I really was just looking forward to see L.T., but I guess that won't happen 'til September. Also looked like the Chargers lost a couple guys with injuries, I don't think any of them were serious though.
