Justin
Man, I kick ass at footy tipping. 6/7 so far, and the Knights kicked a one point win over the Rabbits without Joey. God bless. Jay
I ended up with 5 this round. Relatively good for me, considering at one point I was 1/3. Australia vs Sri Lanka tonight. It's a good thing I haven't been getting much sleep lately, I'll be awake for most of it. Justin
Bah, 6/8 again. Disappointing, really. Tonight's cricket match should be a beauty. I'm buggered so I won't be staying up, but I'm praying for a Jayasuriya double century and a five wicket haul. Fingers also crossed for Clarkey, Hoggy, Silva and Vaas. Justin
I do happen to send more emails when Jenny Thompson is on duty. Fugly. 'stralia beat NZ in the ANZAC Test. Not real surprising. I'm hoping the six Broncs won't be fit to back up or will perform poorly when backing up on Sunday against the Knights. Jay
Just cause she isn't burning. We kerplunked their cricketers overnight as well. I'm sure if we all went over there for a fight, we'd win (with that 1:5 ratio) Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/267374-aussie-sports-topic/page/8/#findComment-4196328 Share on other sites
JoeyLeone25
So I'm sat here, pint of lager in one hand, remote with SA vs Aussies on the TV in the other and I wondered if everybody could pick a team of the tournament or 'dream team' from the players in this years World Cup, who would ya choose? Oh and only performances in this World Cup so far count. Myself... M. Hayden S. Jayasuriya G. Smith J. Kallis K. Pietersen S. Styris K. Sanggrakara N. Bracken S. Malinga G. McGrath M. Muralitharan Hayden. No brainer. Three centuries, one fifty and a high score of 158, all in nine matches says it all. Put Jayasuriya before Smith as he enjoys that 'smash the ball for loads of runs then get out, but leave the team with a solid foundation' role at the front and Smith just behind him, because he's been playing loosely and superbly. No centuries, but 5 half centuries and a 91, show he's in form. Kallis and Pietersen because they're both solid middle order players who have shown that they can build big totals in the middle even when the teams falling apart around them. Following them Styris, who's also performed superbly and like Kallis, with both the bat and the ball. And Sanggrakara to back them up. Murrali has added some invaluable support to his team and has picked up over 20 wickets himself despite many saying some of the pitches wouldn't be that spin friendly. McGrath and Malinga, again for invaluable support. These are two players that you put on when a team's building a neat little partnership to break it. Also Malinga seems to have mastered the perfect yorker and in-swinger causing havoc to everyone. Oh and Bracken, who hasn't taken that many wickets, but he's come in at the top of the order and made some of the best batsmen look like amateurs with his swing and pace. His wicket total may not be that great, but his scalps speak for themselves. Over to you. kingzing
I would largely agree with that list, except for Malinga. I like Malinga, but I don't think he's performed consistently enough to warrant a position in the "Dream Team". He's only had one or two good matches. I would put Hogg or Tait in there instead because they've taken more wickets more consistently. Also, if that's the batting order, I would swap Smith and Jayasuriya around. That's only because that's where they bat in their national teams. Justin
Hayden Jayawardene Kallis Silva Jayasuriya © Styris Sangakkara Hogg Malinga Tait McGrath I wish I had this sort of knowledge heading into the fantasy league... Oh, and I think Pieterson was a bit of a biased choice, myself. Although he was the pick of the Poms in a disappointing campaign. All-Blacks
I myself aren't an expert in cricket.........sooooo in an honest opinion (as I haven't seen 'em play in the tournament), do New Zealand have a good shot at winning the Cricket World Cup? Or is Australia too good for everyone (saw the Ireland-Australia match, what a hiding!)? Justin
. That's two entire World Cups Australia has progressed through undefeated. Blind Joe Death
I can't believe NZ lost in the semi by such a flogging. And then the Aussies flogged Sri Lanka. It is definitely not a good week for me (even though I am Aussie I was going for Sri Lanka in the final after NZ got knocked out ). Anyways NZ will win the rugby would cup so screw cricket. Justin
Yeah, I didn't have enough modifications for a total loadage of Lankies and 'stralians. It came down to a choice between an all rounder (Watson), a keeper (Gilly) or a bowler (McGrath). I went with Watto because, even though he sucks ass, he had two bites at the cherry to perform - batting and bowling. Shows how much I know. Ryuranger
Went to see The Kangas against Sydney Swans, Me and my Mates got some really good seats, Infront of the goals next to the Kangaroo's cheer squad, And it was an awesome match. The Kanga's lead throughout the game, but Sydney came within 4 Points in the Last quarter, but in the End North Melbourne hang in and won the game, The best Footy match i've been to yet. Jay
Port can f*ck off. No that wasn't Port's fault, it was the umpire's fault. That was the most bullsh*t I have ever seen. Being a Port man, it is still hard to disagree with you. But still... How about Geelong? 222 points. Crazy. Growing up in an era where cricket high scores are constantly taken down, it is refreshing to see a large AFL score for once. The thrashing was the first time a team had broken the 200-point barrier since North Melbourne booted 30.24 (204) against Fitzroy in round 22 of 1995.
