kingzing
It's sad day for Australian cricket indeed. To lose four matches in a row, and two series in a row just isn't good enough for what is now the former-No. 1 ODI team in the world. Maybe optimism is the key here. Australia will bounce back, if only at the crucial times of the World Cup. It only looks much worse than it is because the three other top-ranking ODI nations (South Africa, England and New Zealand) are striking a run of good form in recent times, and Australia are in a slight slump. At Fuzzy: I suppose Hussey was due for a massive score. Storey's going to be quite happy I would think. Justin
At Fuzzy:I suppose Hussey was due for a massive score. Storey's going to be quite happy I would think. Holy sh*t, I didn't realise it was you, and I was wondering how/why I was being stalked... Storey will be happy about Huss, but he (along with everyone else in Australia) will be pissed that we managed to lose two consecutive best-of-three series 2 - 0. Archie Thompson is just sensational. Well done to Melbourne, deserved winners of the title. The thrashing that was tonight's match does leave me wondering (almost entirely positive, in fact) that perhaps the Jets would have put up a more decent fight. Finally, Ross Aloisi is an idiot, and cost his team any chance of victory. Congrats Chalk and Tom. cice
Yeah, we suck at cricket now. I watched a bit of the cricket today, but I was mainly waiting for the A-League final to start. Congrats Melbourne, although I was kinda hoping for Adelaide to win purely because I think Muscat is a tosser. Chalk
No ones congratulated New Zealand on their well deserved win . Thats because with the side the Aussies are fielding (with 3 of their top 4 batsman out, and one or two of their bowlers out) you really should beat them in your own territory. The Aussies should not be able to win matches when the majority of their side are out and we're not playing all that well on an away turf. Been pretty well played though by the Kiwi's. We'll just have to wait until we're back at full strength to test how the side is holding up. Jay
It is due in part to how much has been achieved in the past that we actually expect them to win... What the sh*t? 15 months ago those top 3 records weren't there. Chalk
Due to a wonderful knock by Hayden, a not out 181 with a runner in the end, the Aussies made a total of 5/346 after 50. It seems like a pretty good total, although if the Blackcaps are still playing well it won't be too hard to chase down with our (lack of) bowling attack. Jay
Ridiculous. Just ridiculous. The 2nd and 3rd highest chases in 3 days. There is seriously something wrong with the bowling. We pointed the finger at Mick Lewis last time, that was easy enough. Now it is time to point at Shane Watson. 68 or not, he frigged us up disgracefully. Chalk
The record breaking chases are due to the ropes being bought in so much. It seems that they get put a a lot further in than even that of what they were last year or 2 years ago. Now even blocks and edges from a tailender can go for four runs. Its just not good for cricket. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/267374-aussie-sports-topic/page/2/#findComment-4060566 Share on other sites
All-Blacks
When you're hot you're hot! Isn't it great to see Aussie struggling in consecutive matches for once, although you'll probably kick ass come World Cup time. kingzing
Give credit where credit is due. We can blame the bowling, but kudos to the New Zealanders for taking advantage of the poor bowling. But like I said, Australia will bounce back when they need to. Another Australian star player is injured now. Hayden, with a broken toe. Damn. Chalk
Hopefully the Aussies will battle back from back form when the squad actually forms again. It would be interesting to see who would win out of SA and AUS if we had Punter, Hayden, Gilchrist, Symmo, Lee, Clarke and everyone in the squad again. But like I said, Australia will bounce back when they need to. Like, when we start playing against a team that isn't New Zealand or South Africa? Seriously, no other team in world cricket can chase down those totals besides those two, and South Africa will be out of their element in the Caribbean. cice
I thought that the footy on free to air TV was going to be live in Queensland (and NSW) this year. The NAB cup match between Essendon and Carlton on saturday night, is being televised at 10:55pm on channel 10. I've been trying to find more information on the AFL website, but it's a sh*tty website. Anyone have anymore info regarding the televising of live AFL matches in Rugby territory? Justin
Broncs lost the World Cup Challenge. I'm glad. Matty Gidley was playing for Saints (old Knights boy), and I have a general hatred for anything Queensland. Chalk
I never expected the Broncs to win. To me it was fairly straight forward that they were going to lose. Seems I'm off to a good start to the year, 0/2. I won't start the real comp until the season proper. Same for the NRL if anyones interested. cice
Channel 7 didn't even show the Kangaroos vs. Collingwood match last night, not delayed, nothing! Instead they showed two B-grade movies. I had to watch it on Fox sports at 11:30pm. Crows vs. Power was also live on fox sports earlier that night. Hooray for foxtel. I'm also quite pissed that the Essendon vs. Carlton match will be shown at 10:55pm here. It's being played in Melbourne, I'm on the Gold Coast, why can't I watch it live? If so then thats why you wouldn't have the other one, the Brisbane-Saints game is probably more highly ranked then the Blues-Dons game. It seems that Melbourne has the game live, although im not sure. It starts at 8:30 (coverage) and the game is supposed to start at 8:40. Im not sure if they are using local time but then I guess it means it wouldnt start here until past 9:30 which wouldn't happen so I'm guessing it starts at about 7:40 local time up in QLD.
