Justin
Am I the only one that thinks that Pim Verbeek is an absolute knob? No. I don't see the intrigue. He might not be a knob, but he was something like a fifth choice coach - I'm all for overseas talent as far as our coaching goes, but seriously: Gary van Egmond! There's all this hype about emulating the successful style of the English/Dutch/Italian/Spanish/every other successful overseas league by bringing in their coaches. Why not establish our own competitive style? Sure, Guus led us to the second round in 2006 (should have been the semis since we had a moral victory over Italy and I can't see us ever losing to Ukraine). But it wasn't all the coach - we just had the talent develop over time. Personally I think Australia played some of the most exciting football in 2006 and I think we should continue to forge our own style. But whatever, if Pim leads us to the second round again in 2010 I won't be complaining.

Justin
Because our best home grown coaching talent in the past has been Frank Farina and Graham Arnold. Hardly anything to be proud about . Meh. Yeah, shame really. I still say they should give Gary van Egmond a go. Shame on Pim leaving out Joel, unless it was because of his injury. At least it means he'll be fine for Sunday's game. Stefan.
Shame on Pim leaving out Joel, unless it was because of his injury. At least it means he'll be fine for Sunday's game. Yeah, did he not pull his hamstring at training last Wednesday? I cannot believe it. Less than 12 hours from kick-off, and he still has not decided the line-up. That is unbelievable. I say we should give Kosmina a go; he is a fiery coach, and so far with every A-League season so far, he has led a team to the final 4. Plus, he has the right frame of mind about coaching, and would be great for some of the players to get on track. But, we cannot jump to conclusions yet. Pim has not even had his first game yet. Yeah, did he not pull his hamstring at training last Wednesday? Myeah just read in the paper this morning that it was worse than first thought. He's in doubt for the second leg of the major semi too, which I'll be at.
Stefan.
Really? I did not hear about that. I only heard that his injury was temporary, and that he should recover. Also, Mark Milligan broke his nose at training, and will not play tonight. However, he will return for Sydney's minor semi-final.
Justin
Really? I did not hear about that. I only heard that his injury was temporary, and that he should recover. Well, it can take between a week and ten days to recover, and the game on Sunday will have been eight days or something. Fingers crossed, although I doubt he'll end up missing it. The media reports have suggested he'll make it back on time.
Stefan.
Pity for you guys. I admire Joel; he is definitely one of the A-League's best strikers. If he, Aloisi and Thompson play up front for the Socceroos, we will not need that useless bugger, Viduka.

Stefan.
Then again, hardly anyone plays cricket, nobody tries hard with swimming and nobody else plays AFL. I must say, I was very, very surprised to see Australia win. I had to contend with a lot of crap today because I said my tip was a draw; arseholes. My bet was very well though-out; I did not say it based on prejudice. The way Verbeek was acting, it seemed like he did not have the right attitude to lead us to victory. I admit, I was wrong. The second half really showed how we can get fatigued, yet overall we raped those Qataris to oblivion. Now onto China on the 26th of March. Apparently, we are playing in some city on the border of Tibet (the name escapes me) which is at least 1km in altitude. I heard on 3AW that it is a bit stupid; it is not a FIFA date, so clubs are most likely not going to release their players, and the A-League players will be a bit rusty, with the season pretty much over now. Honestly, in that match, we should get a draw, because China are pretty competitive (and they have a Serbian coach).
Jay
But, thanks for assuming I'm just a jackass. That wasn't a joke. That was horrible. Anyone stupid enough to "not get the reference" wouldn't have the brain power to breathe independently, and by definition wouldn't be of sound state to reply to your post in the first place. @sport: New Zealand monstered again. Considering they were playing on their home pitch, and with England in dogged form, that was very shocking. No wonder they are falling down the rankings in all forms of the game. Are they not 7th or something in the test rankings? Only above Bangladesh, I think.

I prefer to wait and watch. NZ still have some pretty good players and they're all capable.
Stefan.
Well, just recently, their short-form specialist, Scott Styris, reitred from test cricket to concentrate on the short form of the game. I guess you are right; Australia for a time were not too flash at 20/20.

makeshyft
Mitchell Johnson continues to impress me, and Michael Clarke is looking better and better as future captain.
