Mav.
Well, if they can do it with Wembley, they can do it here. No they can't. You're not seriously comparing Wembley, London with Canberra, ACT are you? For one thing, London has over 7.5 million people living in it, just a lazy 23 times the population of Canberra. Not to mention they practically worship soccer in England. Not like over here where it's the 3rd, actually more likely the fourth biggest sport (AFL, NRL, Cricket being the first 3). The logistics don't match up and it wouldn't make any sense building a stadium in Canberra that would have to be big enough to hold 50,000 people (if they are to hold Grand Finals like you say). And what happens when there isn't a grand final to play? Just leave it there? They wouldn't play home and away matches because they'd only get a couple of thousand people there. Maybe less. And on the rare occasion Australia actually play in Australia, they definately wouldn't play in Canberra. The supporters wouldn't come. They have to pay for an airfaire along with a ticket to get in that's already over-priced? I'm sure they'll love that. But hey, if you think it will work, then I'm sure the FFA will be all ears.... kingzing
If you've ever heard of Woop Woop, it's a 600 000 large city about 9 hours drive east of Newcastle. They should build a neutral stadium there. Woop Woop-ians (the people of Woop Woop) always enjoy a physical contest.

Stefan.
No need to act like a smart-arse, bitch. It was just an idea, no need to pounce on my like a mouse on a piece of cheese. Jeez, some people here are really brain-less nowadays. Anyway, Ana won, so who gives a crap.

So I thought if that's the way you're going to act, uneducated and f*cking stupid, then I'd call you out on it. And you call me the one brainless? f*cking wanker. btw [email protected] calling me a bitch.
Stefan.
Again, this is getting out of control. I was merely saying that in the spur of the moment. Sorry. And please, if you met me in real life, you would know that I am not un-educated. I do not expect you to believe me, but I am a bit of a nerd, and I did get the third highest results out of all Year 8's in private schools across Victoria. Nonetheless, can we please move on from this, because frankly I have more useful things to do then having an argument. OK? I am quite surprised as to how Nadal was absolutely owned by Tsonga. If the Frenchman plays like he did today, he surely will beat either Djokovic or Federer! Should be a cracking match tonight, though. Everyone is saying 'Federer, this, Federer that', yet are completely oblivious to the fact that Novak is number3 in the world, and is only one of 3 people to beat Federer while in the number 1 position. Justin
Mav and Stefan, I like you both (non sexually) but if this continues I'ma have to warn you. So shove it. Sucks, official confirmation today that the A-League grand final will indeed be played out in Sydney. And yeah, Tsonga is surely on drugs or managed to stay in "the zone" for the entire match against Nadal. Amazing.

Justin
Anyone watching the cricket? looks like we're going to lose this test too. I don't think we'll lose, but I do think it'll end up a draw. It's not much fun watching one team bat the entire two first days if they don't have a good chance of bowling out the opposition twice in the next three, let alone batting again if necessary. i.e. Australia can do it, but no one else should. Stefan.
Cricket can be boring. Tennis for the win. I am gutted to see Ana lose; gutted. I hate Sharapova, she needs to be quiet. Although, they did make good speeches. And Justin, Nadal sucks on hard courts; everyone knows that. Nonetheless, Djokovic will win and finally, Serbia will assert themselves as world champion. I think if Djokovic wins, he enter into the no. 1 position.

Stefan.
I think it has ended in a draw. Now the attention will be on Harbajan's hearing. By the way Justin, how was the Jets vs. Mariners game? Did you go? I did not watch the match, and only watched selected highlights on Sky News. Boy, how Aloisi missed that penalty shockingly.

Let us put it this way -- we were lucky to win, let alone by two. I'll take that though.

Think you can hold a 2 goal advantage? Easy. We're more than capable of scoring one, in which case Central Coast would need four. Can't see THAT happening. At worst, extra time/penalties if Central Coast can manage a 2-0 victory.
Jay
I think it's worrying that one nation has such clout and influence in the cricketing world. Moreso how the ICC and CA were more than willing to bend over backwards to appease them in this whole racism/umpiring set of scenarios. Money and advertising must mean a lot more than integrity and sportsmanship.

Every sport is played for the moolah involved in it - the major reason why India excells only in cricket. Every other single sport is so poorly neglected, it makes me feel as if I'm living in an under-developed country. Hell, even the backward countries win more medals in the Olympics. Money and advertising must mean a lot more than integrity and sportsmanship. I really believe its a disgrace the way the whole situation has been handled by the ICC. The factors of India being such a wealthy cricketing nation and the possible threat of them boycotting the one day series obviously had some influence on the judgment. Then the bungled punishment was icing on the cake. Don't even start me on the umpiring. When Darren "Boof" Lehmann was suspended for a handful of games a few years back for a racist comment I thought that the ICC would show consistency with any future cases. However its now evident that if you're rich enough and wield a hefty amount of power then the rules don't apply.

However its now evident that if you're rich enough and wield a hefty amount of power then the rules don't apply. This is true to a certain extent, but one cannot undermine the fact that Harbhajan might not have called Symonds a monkey. As reported, he seems to have said 'Teri maa ki' which means 'Your mom's'. Also, the abuse is incomplete since the word 'Teri maa ki' is generally followed by an even more abusive/sexually provocative word. So, Symonds (who obviously doesn't understand Hindi) might have easily misunderstood it for being called a monkey since the pronounciation sounds similar. Another prominent thing that I'd like to point out is - When the hell did 'monkey' become a racially abusive word? Aren't they supposed to be our ancestors? I fail to see logic in all the ruckus behind a simple name-calling issue.
Storm.
Well this all stemmed from the one day series played in India late last year. Harbhajan, and the rest of the Indians, were made aware that it was racist and offensive. Now if they had been calling the Australian team collectively a bunch of monkeys that may be different but they singled out the only black player in the team. If Harbhajan really meant to abuse Symonds racially, he must've been well aware that the same applies to him. So, the abuse should have backfired if it was meant to be racial. Damn, I always thought it was the whites who racially abused the blacks and not blacks abusing blacks! Plain stupid.

makeshyft
I'm really looking forward to seeing what Mitchell Johnson can achieve over time; Bracken too. It was a shame how the test series played out - controversial second test, then Gilly's last a draw. I have found myself drawn more to test cricket since getting older, and I'm going to have to get Foxtel to get my fix throughout the year.
Stefan.
Well, first World Cup qualifier tomorrow night. I would have gone, but school has held me down. Am I the only one that thinks that Pim Verbeek is an absolute knob? First of all, he bags our league, when our league needs support to try and get up with NRL and AFL. I understand our league is not the best in the world, but it is still a generally good league, with exciting matches (much more exciting than AFL), interesting players and local teams. Seconds of all, he does not pick Harry Kewell in the squad. Harry Kewell is fully fit, did not have to play on the week-end, unlike other European based players, and is probably the best national player Australia will ever see. He is one of a few who perform exceptionally well for their country. I am not trying to be hypocritical and bag the A-League, but without some stable European players (such as Kewell, Cahill and Schwarzer) I do not see us making the World Cup, let alone the 4th round of qualifying. My prefered line-up: GK: Mark Schwarzer RB: Lucas Neill RCB: Craig Moore LCB: Mark Milligan LB: Rodrigo Vargas RWM: Marco Bresciano CM: Tim Cahill LWM: Harry Kewell (or David Carney) RF: Scott McDonald CF: John Aloisi LF: Joel Griffiths
