I've not progressed my build any further, decided to have a few days in Berlin instead.

Just got a few new fans installed :) I'm really surprised since the rear siim fan seem to perform better than the stock Meshify c fan.

i liked the one from Der8auer

https://www.caseking.de/en/caseking-blog/cre8auer-c8-the-fastest-and-largest-desktop-processor-in-the-world-3413.html

The CRE8AUER C8 Processor at a Glance:

  • 8-Core processor (16 Threads with HT)
  • Clock frequency of 8 GHz
  • Unlocked multiplier for overclocking
  • "Delidded" using a unique one-of-a-kind delid die mate for improved thermal performance
  • No additional cooling required
  • IHS made from silver (99%)
  • 24 Month  King Mod Guarantee  included
  • 42 Megabyte L3 Cache
  • Dual-Channel Interface
  • Supports DDR4-4.800 (Dual Channel)

Blog-DE-CPU_285x255.png

Due to the unlocked multiplier, the more intrepid users amongst us will be pleased to know that the it can be pushed even higher with the right cooling, and this is how der8auer achieved a stable 42 GHz on the C8!

I only wish I could get a single-core 42 GHz processor, nevermind eight-core!

What prompted the upgrade to the 2080 Ti? I've been happy with mine, though I haven't had the chance yet to really put it to the test. Batman: Arkham City was running really well at 7,680 x 4,320 (4K + 4x DSR). I want to run some benchmarks, because I think it was doing ~60 fps at that resolution!

I noticed you turned your fans upside-down. Was that for wiring purposes?

@Dryspace

My reason might not make sense I guess, please no hate.

I've edited KF2 config for alot and I mean ALOT of nvidia flex effects, made it so things won't despawn, and I've also increased the view distance. The 2070 didn't do too well so I went for the 2080ti and so far I'm very pleased to game at rock solid 60fps with absolute ridiculous amount of effects lol same with GTA V. (Ultra grass and advanced settings all maxed)

Of course that makes sense! 😀

There are many people who misunderstand what a GPU is. They say things like, "Why do you have a [insert powerful card] if you are gaming at ["too-low" framerate] or ["too-low" resolution]?". They don't understand that a GPU is nothing but raw power that can be used flexibly as required.

In addition to achieving higher framerates and/or resolutions, there are at least two other gaming-related reasons for requiring more GPU power (and VRAM): Higher game settings, and antialiasing. After all, applying true constructive antialiasing is, in effect, increasing the resolution.

I played GTA V at 1600 x 1200, and a 980 Ti FTW was not powerful enough to achieve the settings I desired along with the degree of multi- and/or supersampling that I desired. In fact, with the 980 Ti I ended up dropping the refresh rate to 50 Hz in order to keep the framerate from dropping below vsync.

Make no mistake: as far as I could tell, GTA V is a far better-coded and -optimized port than most. It's just that it's very graphically complex, and the deferred rendering engine makes true AA very expensive.

You have spoken my mind,  I'm not at all interested in 4K or fps higher than 60fps.

All I care about is solid 60fps and cool effects like flex. Wonder what flex fluid would look like for forza or GTA.

And yea GTA V is a really well coded and optimized game It runs incredibly well. The extended shadow distance and ultra grass setting really changed Los Santos haha damn good game!!

Finally picked up a wrist rest.

Mostly play shooters which were destroying my wrist after awhile, especially since the polishers and buffers at work already over work my wrists and forearms.

Good quality, got it from kbdfans.com

Full loop system build should be going ahead in the new few weeks, and probably take circa a month, so expect to see stuff moved around fairly soon...

Just built my first rig, amazed I didn't break anything. Nothing too crazy:

Ryzen 2600X 3.9Ghz

RTX 2060 Gaming Z

MSI B450 Tomahawk

16GB 3200Mhz Ram

Looking forward to catching up on a lot of old games and modding.

Just built my first rig...

Congratulations!

I built my first gaming PC in 2008, after my cousin demonstrated the beginning of BioShock and blew me away. In addition to BioShock, the first games that I discovered (through demos) and played were Half-Life 2 and the Episodes, Portal, F.E.A.R. and its two expansions, The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, and of course Crysis.

I didn't realize at the time that these games, which were released between 2004 and 2007, represented the pinnacle of video game innovation, and that I had entered PC gaming right on top of the Great Consolization of 2008.

At the time I didn't have any concept of a console port. I had no in-built bias. I was brand new, and all that I knew was that the new games that were releasing were very disappointing compared to the games that had prompted me to build a gaming PC in the first place--even when they weren't by any means bad. For years now I have wished that just 30% of console users would switch to PC, as that should be enough of a market shift to prompt a return of games conceived, designed, and coded for PC hardware and the sensibilities of the PC market.

In short, if you are wanting to catch up on old games, there are a lot of good console ports from the last ten years, but there are also a lot of really good PC games from the pre-Consolization era, especially if you are also interested in Adventure games such as The Longest Journey, Secret Files: Tunguska, and Return to Mysterious Island.
