I haven't found the darkness to be any more distracting than usual.

and I guess everybody's just different.

if I were focused on a bright screen against dark surroundings for too long, it would start to hurt a little, but I've also got pussy eyes lol. I wear sunglasses everywhere all the time so I feel like my eyes are always sensitive to light. when I'm working for hours in Premier (for instance) I need the area around me to be light or the strain in my eyes will force me to stop. I noticed a tangible difference and relief when I went from working explicitly in the dark to lightening up the area. that being said I still enjoy playing games in the dark. helps immerse me in the game world. but then I don't sit and game for as long as I'll sit and do video editing.

forgive me for taking these with the cell phone when my Nikon is sitting right there...

light and fluffy! and surrounded by toys. because I'm only 29 years young :pp

decided to take this opportunity to clean up the rig itself. air-dusted and de-gunked from top to bottom.

As long as it's RGB, there will be a market.

Standing desks are amazing though. Have you ever actually used one? Total revelation.

But standing up is not the equivalent of healthy exercise so the benefits of that should be minimal for your general health. It might help your back. Maybe. I personally hate standing. I can't stand in one place without feeling the urge to move.

Most standing desks let you sit too. I'm petitioning my work to get one.

standing up doesn't have to be the "equivalent of healthy exercise."

the standing desk isn't a replacement for regular physical exercise. that's not the point.

the point is that standing up is much healthier than sitting down.

it's a comparison to sitting down. it's not a comparison to jogging 4 miles or doing yoga.

everyone is a little different and you might feel uncomfortable standing in one place for very long without any agitation, but that's kind of beside the point. generally speaking it's much better for the body to spend long periods of work by standing up and moving around rather than sitting down and remaining sedentary. the medical science is pretty clear on the benefits of active versus sedentary lifestyles.

oh ive spent 7 years in the army standing still for long periods of time without moving an inch and it didnt make me healthier.

i sit in a desk at work and some times i wish i didnt had to sit to do my job as im always sitting, getting up, rinse and repeat, but thats it, its not healthier then a having a chair with a good lombar support

I'd say it is healthier probably but not by much. It doesn't make sense because you're still not moving much. The health problem with sitting down is more about movement than the sitting part.

It is healthier, there's a wealth of scientific evidence that say as much. You can continue insisting that it's not if that's what makes you happy, but you'd be wrong.

I literally said it was in the previous post but these desks are usually ridiculously expensive. I would be surprised if these studies address standing desks specifically. Standing is not the same as walking around (which certain jobs require). However, you can offset the negative side effects of sitting down by doing actual exercise but sitting down for prolonged periods of time is still bad regardless of your activities. You just have to make sure to get up often.

I had a heart rate issue recently after recovering from a few illnesses. My BPM was constantly at 100 during the day because I wasn't really doing any physical work during this time (presumably) but my heart slowed down into the 80s or 90s after I started working and moving again. It's not like I wasn't walking and standing during the high heart rate period but it just would not slow down. Apparently a lack of exercise will do that to your heart. I should start exercising soon to see if I can lower it to 60-70. Athletes can get it even lower.

System looks great, but I highly recommend you pick up a GPU support bracket. I've found Strix cards tend to sag quite badly and it also prevents exerting excessively pressure on the PCI-E rails which has killed one X99 board for me already.

I've got one of these with my Zotac:

the gpu is so big that before removing the hdd trays it was sitting right on top of one so that wasnt a problem.

still dont know what im going to do next, probably going to remove the stock cooler from the gpu and get a waterblock aswell or just go 1080 sli, so ill still need to think what im going before getting the bracket or if it will be needed at all

I'd still consider a brace, especially with the added weight of a water block.

really? i thought that the waterblock would be very light compared to the massive stock cooler, never had one in my hands before

this one from Coldzero seem cool

They're made primarily of copper or nickel, they're very heavy. The difference in weight between my Zotac GTX1080 and the version they do with an EKWB block from the factory is about half a kilo.

The ArcticStorm 1080 is over two kilos.

^^ followed your advice and got a brace for mine

edit: i found out that when i have the gpu straigh without sag that the temperatures get like 5º hotter :/ what the hell? i used valley to bench and if i let the gpu sag it drops to 61 under load and if i push the card to the straight position that it goes to 65-66º.

you think that the stock cooler might have adapted to that bent position?

also ordered a backplate to go along with the motherboard look
