I hate you.

Nice pictures though.

Edit: The guitarist for Porn is Tim Moss. The bassist is Billy Anderson, who is pretty legendary among the stoner/sludge scene as a producer, and also plays bass in a good number of bands. Interesting to see that Toshi played with Porn, since he's an official member of Big Business now? Did he not play for them, or did he do both?

The full band name is really The Men of Porn, or Porn (The Men of), and they range a lot in style from droney stuff, noise, psychedelic and stoner rock, and doom metal. The simple fact Dale Crover plays drums should be enough to convince you to buy all their albums.

As for the Melvins not playing Hooch, they rarely ever play anything from Houdini or Stoner Witch, and never play stuff from Ozma. They try to showcase their newer stuff and throw a few random older songs into the mix, but never really go too far back into their repertoire. They do a lot of one-off shows (usually in California) where they'll play older songs or whole albums, and are planning a tour with their old drummer (and Dale Crover on bass) playing only stuff from before Gluey Porch Treatments came out.

He did both. It was pretty cool seeing both opening acts having at least one member in The Melvins.

Digital Murders

Well Metallica is coming here with Machine Head and The Sword in January. I've only seen Metallica once and that was at Woodstock. I'm going to be there more so for Machine Head. The Sword is ok...a lot of their songs sound alike.

How come whenever I come in here, all I ever see is posts about The Melvins?

Because Melvins kick ass.

I'm going to the Metallica here show as well. They're not my favorite band anymore but I feel that I have to go, plus they look and sound a lot better live now. Plus The Sword is opening too. Its a shame Machine Head is opening though. Lamb of God is opening in the earlier dates. They blow but at least they look kind of entertaining live.

Machine Head>Lamb of God

Earlier Machine Head is sh*t imo, but their last two albums shocked me. I think they're quite good and I've seen them live atleast three times now. They put on a great show. Rob Flynn is a beast.

Hetfield is an ogre.

The Sword is the best band in that lineup. I'd go see them open and get the hell out of dodge.

Thank god, better audio finally. I thought the song kicked f*cking ass and I'm actually looking forward to the album now. The only weak thing in the song is the vocals but they're not really bad. Theres actually bass again too. wow.gif

You can always find the leaked tracks on YouTube, and some live clips of new songs as well.

I enjoyed an archived YT clip of Savatage performing Hall of the Mountain King! Ah, the glory dayz of Metal.

Damn, wah already? tounge2.gif

Ah damn, one of my concerns became true. The lyrics sounded as whiny as the song titles. Either suicide is handled gracefully, or else you'll end up sounding like a bad grunge band from the mid nineties. Suicide, I've already died, this is just the fuel I've been waiting for? No thanks. Hopefully James won't sing like that in the studio.

Riffage doesn't seem too bad. Does this have a RTL vibe? I bet it would sound killer if played just a tad faster.

The new Metallica track is fantastic. I think James voice is a bit improved from what he sounded like on 'St.Anger'. On the last album, it sounded like he just woke up and laid down some vocal tracks without any warm-up what so ever. The psuedo 'screams' and his voice cracking just makes me cringe. Either way, although his voice is somewhat better, it will never be 'Ride the Lightning' good.

His voice just doesn't match the music anymore.

Anyway, anyone like The Haunted? They're new album 'Versus' is due out in September. If anyone is interested, they have a new track on their myspace, Moronic Colossus.

I didn't like 'reVolver', but 'The Dead Eye' was a fantastic album. And I can say that after hearing the new stuff, I'm pretty excited for 'Versus'.

Blind Joe Death

Show looks awesome Scarface. Have the Melvins ever toured Australia and are they planning to anytime soon? Because I'd travel to anywhere in the country to see them.

Just to clear something up, there are TWO bands,

The Sword I believe you guys mentioned, a new outfit... and an older, more commercial metal SWORD, who were also very good but I only know of one record by them: Metallized.

Sword also released a full-length called Sweet Dreams. I have their Best Of actually.

Anyway, just got back from Bloodstock. 'twas good. Highlights included Destruction, Overkill, Helloween and Alestorm. May go into more detail if I'm less tired.

They toured Australia back in '03 in support of HAT, but I don't think they're planning on touring Australia (or Canada) anytime soon. They have confirmed US and European dates, but it's pretty hellish and expensive for a smaller DIY group to tour Canada or Australia, mainly because of the way the population is spread out. They'd get to play maybe 2 or 3 shows in Australia and 2 or 3 shows in Canada, probably not making enough money to justify the trip. In Europe, you can get everywhere rather cheaply and there are a few dozen places to play in countries that they have pretty big fanbases in.

Stoned Again, being the catchy hit. I believe at one point Dave Mustaine mentioned them, as he did Metal Church. It's not often Dave will mention other bands in the press. He of course mentioned Suicidal Tendencies, having toured together.

Anyone here into bands like Six Feet Under, Job For a Cowboy, or I wrestled a bear once? Slayer is also a great history lesson in metal. I've only recently started listen to metal in the last year, I'd love to hear some mandatory band suggestions. I'm more into metalcore, deathcore and anything else with double bass and growling, but not if they're growling because they can't sing. There's a difference

Sorry to break the news to you, but that sort of music (Slayer excluded I'd guess) is typically looked down upon.

Are you serious?

I've been told to never judge a book by its cover, but what a terrible f*cking name for a band.

It's a result of the quirky/random/pretentious hipster crap spilling over into metal(core). Come up with a few non-sequiturs and you've got a band name and the name of every song on your album.

Job for a Cowboy is equally as sh*tty. "This looks like a... JOB FOR A COWBOY" lol geddit?

I tried to start a new metal thread for older, more MATURE metalheads, because...ya know? This kind of flaming smacks of intolerant, close mindedness.

I am allowing you people to have your say, without harping on how my own ears and brain interpret the same sounds. Tell me why you cannot do the same.

Armchair, self-proclaimed musical critics/experts are not what these forums should be about, but more a way to share some ideas for the scenes that METAL encompess as a whole.

Show that all the flavors of metal are equally good tasting. I love the whole variety of metal.... it is VAST, need I say that more then once?

Over the course of 30 years, in fact.
