YOB is one of those groups whose music I love, but the vocals put me off.  They're not even harsh, he just sounds like a dying cat to me.

Middian is great aswell, though not as good musically as YOB, they have much better vocals.

Sorry, but you're wrong.

I think the Doom Mustaine vocals fit.

As much as they "fit", I don't like them.

So THERE.

Also, the new Melvins album has supposedly leaked, but I can't find it anywhere! I'm thinking about going up to the local music store and holding them at gunpoint until they give me an advanced copy.

Jason really likes Meltdown 'Execution'. He also believe that if you have interest in thrash, you should go acquire it immediately.

Yeah, I heard. From reading what has been said on message boards, it's going to be awesome. Some people have been saying such things as, "Best album of '08" and "One of, if not, the Melvins best album".

I'll try and look for the leak and I'll pm you if I do and I hope you do the same if you find it.

1. Your collection lacks variety.

2. 10 gig isn't much to boast about, I used to have well over 100gig before my harddrive crashed. Now I only have ~40 gig.

Blind Joe Death

The album is absolutely great. So great in fact that it is in my member title.

I think I'll still be buying the album when it comes out though since I like to support my favourite bands especially if they don't get lots of sales like the Melvins.

My only gripe with it is the renaming of "Real f*cking Nasty" to "The Savage Hippy." It was originally released as a single on Amphetamine Reptile and sold during their latest tour. I didn't really expect it to be on the album, as their tour singles rarely are, and I even expected less that it would be renamed, as the song lyrics even mention something being "real nasty" (though he doesn't say f*cking). The Savage Hippy really has no relevance to the song, and even though most Melvins songs aren't named relevantly, I think the old song name was a lot better.

But I guess "Real f*cking Nasty" isn't good press, especially since they print the album art on the back and the track list on the front. Plus, the Melvins have a way of presenting themselves as a really clean and family-oriented type band, until you put the CD in. Hell, look at the artwork for Nude With Boots, which was lifted from a well-hidden Ipecac promo page:

You definitely wouldn't expect it to sound anything like it does from looking at that. tounge2.gif

Well there is no point in CHECKing YOUR INBOX since I DID not give you a link because downloading an album from an illegal torrent is illegal and against the forum rules.

@Album cover: Haha, that's pretty funny. I think the best album cover they have had was the one for Houdini. The two headed dog kicks ass.

Don't judge a book by its cover, in this case, a CD.

I did purchase the new IF and it blows. icon13.gif

Edit

Oh yes, I also saw Napalm Death last night, which I must say ruled in every aspect of the word. Still one of the best acts in metal.

I got their setlist which was f*cking ace.

Sink fast, Let go

Unchallenged Hate

Suffer the children

Continuing war on stupidity

Breed to breathe

Yes and yes.

I've got pictures, but I haven't put them on my computer yet, I will post some as soon as I get the chance.

And speaking of epicness, I've got tickets to see Maiden on June 11th. I haven't seen them yet, so I'm excited as hell.

Haha. With 36 Crazyfists and DevilDriver? I guess it would be worth it to see all the kiddies who think Slipknot or Pantera is the heaviest thing in the world get blown away by a real metal band.

I heard the crowds started heckling them when they played the really short songs.

I can respect what Napalm Death has done, but their in the same category with Cannibal Corpse as being praised by scenesters. It's unfortunate, but the truth. confused.gif

Sir Smoke-A-Lot

So I decided to listen to CoB's album Hatebreeder and decided nothing they have done or ever will do will ever top that album. They really had their sh*t together on that. I read reviews for their newest 'Blooddrunk' and pretty much came to the conclusion that they need to stop making albums. It's actually kinda surprising as I have a soft spot for Hate Crew Deathroll and their newest is being 'praised' as being in that same style. Oh well. Long live Hatebreeder!

You'd think they'd appreciate it considering how short their attention span is when moving from trend to trend. barf8bd.gif

Picked up OM's Pilgrimage yesterday. It's pretty awesome, but I think I can only listen to OM for so long, because their songs tend to run together pretty easily. I also picked up Indian's The Unquiet Sky on vinyl. I already have it, and it's sweet, but I wanted it on vinyl for a long time.

Got three new albums, all from bands new to me (obviously heard of before, just never tried):

Alestorm - Captain Morgan's Revenge

Moonsorrow - V: Hävitetty

Týr - Ragnarok

Thoughts?

V: Hävitetty and Ragnarok are both solid f*cking albums. I really think that's moonsorrow's best work. But I've yet to check out Alestorm.

All three are great albums.

When I first listened to V: Hävitetty, I did not know that it was just 2 songs of about 30 minutes, was odd, but by f*ck do I like that album, I wouldn't be able to call it their best, not sure what I would call their best though...this calls for some listenage.

Of Týr's albums, Ragnarok is most definitely my favourite, although the others do some really good songs, Ragnarok was just that much more catchy for me.

And well, Alestorm, that album...I love it. It will be one of my albums for the year. I had gotten the Battleheart demos 2 years or so ago, and loved them then, and still do love to listen to them, especially for those that were not rerecorded for the album, but I hear that Heavy Metal Pirates is to be a bonus song in Japan, a reworking of that deserves a listen.

High on Fire ruled. Got the set list, and a huge bangover. Matt Pike is as cool as people say he is, talked to him for a good 20 minutes after the show while we smoked a joint.

I was in front, about 6 inches away from Matt when he was at the mic. I knew I should have brought a camera, but it would have probably gotten broken. Only pic is from my cell phone, so it sucked.

edit cuz i dont feel like making another post: Gigantour is what Murders is talking about. It's coming to my city too...but I ended up not buying ticks...I'd rather see HoF when they're headlining their own show. much better crowd, longer setlist, etc.

Going to see High on Fire when they come here with Megadeth. I can't remember who else is on the bill, I want to say In Flames and Children of Bodom but I don't know off the top of my head.

I've never seen In Flames, so at least I can say I've seen them.

Megadeth, High on Fire, In Flames, Children of Bodom, and Job for a Cowboy.

Seems like too many meatheads and scene kids to deal with.

Yeah, I agree with you both. All three are good albums. Ragnarok's my favourite so far though; I need to give V: Hävitetty some more time to fully get into it, and Captain Morgan's Revenge is fun and catchy but not much more than that. I think I will be tired of it in a month's time. Probably my least favourite, but still good.

Oh, and to remain at least partially relevant to the discussion above - I've never tried High on Fire. I have Sleep's Holy Mountain and really like it, though. Is High on Fire more of the same?

Not at all, Sheeno. High on Fire is much more intense, heavier, faster, and much less blusey. Their first release was a lot more like Sleep than they are now, but still.
