Since he said Raven, I'm going to throw Riot out there. Thundersteel is an awesome speed metal masterpiece. Oh yeah, and Attacker The Second Coming. Man, those are great f*cking albums!

New Raven song "Breaking You Down"

Good song.

@Moon: I just read a quote from someone on the Megadeth boards about High on Fire, and with you saying you just saw them, but I want to see if it's true.

"High on Fire is like feeding a ton of amphetamins to a dinosaur."

Severed Survival is one of the best death metal albums I've ever heard. Love 'Charred Remains'.

I just ordered tickets for the Progressive Nation tour 30 minutes ago. The line up is pretty damn awesome I think.

Dream Theater (say what you want, I like them, it should be cool to see them in concert and its not one of those "an evening with" tours so they won't play for like 4 hours)

Opeth (Been waiting years to see them live and I'll finally be able to even though it will be odd with only Mikael and Martin Mendez left from the 'classic' line up I'll call it)

3 (Great band. Saw them open for Porcupine Tree and can't wait to see them again.)

Between the Buried and Me (Never really listened to this band, I'll probably look into them but won't expect much)

Also seeing Iron Maiden on Tuesday in Los Angeles. So f*cking stoked.

I got tickets to that sh*t too. It really should be badass.

Between the Buried and Me is great btw. Colors and Alaska are both very good albums.

Groovy, go acquire Razor - Open Hostility and Shotgun Justice. They are the best thrash metal albums you've never heard.

Clutch is going to seattle, playing an all ages venue, and I can't find passage. Terrible.

and i can't find a copy of Wolverine Blues.

Check the Clutch forums (http://www.pro-rock.com/bb/index.php) and it's likely you'll be able to find a ride from somebody who lives close by or with one of the many people who follow them around the country.

Speaking of Clutch, there's rumours abound that the organist, Mick, who joined the band in 2005, could have left. This is because of his absence at recent Bakerton Group shows, where all of his organ parts were played on guitar by Neil (singer of Clutch).

Oh man, its going to be hard to top this concert. Opeth will have to play 'Forest of October' and 'To Bid You Farewell' to top this.

Bangovered.

Caught local act Aphotic Dawn last night, fantastic sh*t.

Especially when the group of us jumped up on stage at for the last song (Eraddtx2) for windmills.

No dough this post will get questions and and maybe even some fighting.

Last few albums I've rocked out too

WASP - The Headless Children(lol at WASP, but this is suprisingly good)

Raven - Architect of Fear(Sold Down the River is one of the best songs the band has ever done)

M.O.D. - Devolution(Best M.O.D. album, and best vocal performance from Billy Milano, which isn't saying much)

Also have to say, that the Raven cover of Born To Be Wild that they do with Udo is pretty much the most metal song ever to be recorded

Is this topic mostly the extreme side of metal? Because I like quite a bit of Death/Black/Thrash, but my favourites lie in Prog and not-too-gay Power.

Well, heavy metal as a whole is pretty extreme and ballsy. We basically talk about everything in here minus metalcore and anything that can be seen on Fuse and MTV.

Speaking of power metal, I'm a huge fan of Dungeon, Scanner, Primal Fear, Hibria and StormWarrior, EdGuy and I'm sure a few others I am missing.

Well, on the topic of Power Metal, has anyone tried Leverage's latest Blind Fire? It's actually really good Melodic Metal.

Oh, and I plan on buying some music from a Power Folk band called The Lord Weird Slough Feg. Anyone tried anything of theirs?

As for Death Metal, well...I still haven't managed to unglue Decrepit Birth's Diminishing Between Worlds out of my player yet. =D

According to Pro-Rock magazine, Dutch guitarist/vocalist Patrick Mameli has set "Resurrection Macabre" as the title of the new album from the resurrected late '80s/early '90s death metal outfit PESTILENCE, tentatively due in early 2009 via Holland's Mascot Records. Joining Mameli in the group's new lineup are Tony Choy (ATHEIST, CYNIC) on bass and Peter Wildoer (DARKANE, NON-HUMAN LEVEL) on drums. Patrick is currently working on new material which he has described as a modern fusion of "Testimony of the Ancients" (1991) and "Spheres" (1993), but even more technical and brutal. The group's new album will tentatively be recorded this fall by Danish producer Jacob Hansen (RAUNCHY, INVOCATOR) and produced by Patrick himself.

Speaking to BLABBERMOUTH.NET regarding his decision to bring PESTILENCE back from the dead, Mameli stated last month, "It's not a reunion, because I will not be playing with any of the old lineup guys, except Tony Choy [who played on 'Testimony'], of course so...

"I always stated there WILL NEVER BE a reunion, and there won't be, since I never look back at the past and I refuse now to play with people that are not on the same musical level as I am.

"I sang on 'Testimony' and 'Spheres' (two albums later from 'Consuming Impulse' [1989]!!), so no need for [original PESTILENCE frontman] Martin [Van Drunen]. This because of the above statement I just made. Furthermore, Martin is doing other things. Good for him.

"So now you have two members that were in PESTILENCE before and one new guy.

"The reason why I bring PESTILENCE back to life is that people/fans keep asking me for this. The time is right now and Mascot is giving me the opportunity to do so.

"As you know, I have always been the driving force behind PESTILENCE, writing all the music and so forth, so that I can state: I will bring back PESTILENCE to life. More tech and way more brutal than ever before."

OMG

f*ck yes! I'll need to look out for this. I love Pestilence. Also, put Tony Choy in any line up and its bound to be awesome.

Yeah, but it was a f*ckin sweet new song.

also, Wolverine Blues is awesome. So awesome. I like that kinda style where it's death-influenced without being an outright brutal, decapitation-anthem kinda song.

Im listening to the new Bodom album...its a shame. 'Hatebreeder' and 'follow the reaper' were such good albums, but its been downhill from 'hate crew deathroll'. This is all sounding the same again, just like are 'you dead yet'
