Could somebody recommend me some good Death Metal? I'm new to the genre, and I'm not sure whether or not I'm going to like it that much, but I'd like to hear some good Death Metal before I pass judgement. I'm a punk fan, mostly. So I may be hard to please.

Sadus - Chemical Exposure (a.k.a. Illusions)

 

Both of those bands have their roots heavily in thrash metal while still dishing out some vicious proto-death metal.

 

EDIT: Tetsuo, it's just a little strange that Slayer would play at a tiny-ass venue (again) when they draw in crowds of thousands. Meh, they're truly overrated, but whatever floats your boat.

I never said that, but I think it's just vastly overrated, and At the Gates themselves have put out better material.
