At least you have a Melvins section at the place you get music.

Been listening to Cuatro by Flotsam and Jetsam lately, good stuff.

I finally acquired Nuclear Thrashing Attack by FastKill.

This album, basically, knocked me on my ass, and ripped my face off.

AWESOME.

Gigantour steamrolls its way into the 'Couver this May. Normally I wouldn't be too pumped, but Megadeth and High on Fire make up for Bodom, Job for a Cowboy and In Flames.

Children of Bodom still kick ass live from what I've seen, I don't care what anyone says. Same with In Flames even though they are really really really really really really really really terrible now. Job for a Cowboy just sucks though.

High on Fire kind of sticks out on that line up like sore thumb too, I think.

Well it would seem Megadeth have suffered yet another member leaving them. I just found out Glen Drover has left Megadeth to focus more on family life. Chris Broderick of Nevermore and Jag Panzer fame has replaced him.

Well I thought for f*ck sake when I heard this but Broderick is one hell of a guitarist, will be interesting to see how well he fits in with Megadeth.

Offical Press Release.

Who gives a f*ck about megadef anymore?

Quality technical metal connoisseurs and open-minded music lovers in general will be delighted to hear that Florida's legendary CYNIC have returned to creative power after a successful European re-union tour in the summer of 2007 and will soon be recording a new album, their second after 1993's genre-shattering "Focus" debut.

CYNIC founding members Paul Masvidal (guitars / vocals) and Sean Reinert (drums), who both gained reputation and praise while performing alongside Chuck Schuldiner and DEATH in the recording and touring lineup for the milestone album "Human", are currently in Sanford, Florida, working on the mix for three new demo tracks together with producer Jason Suecof (TRIVIUM, CHIMAIRA, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, DEVILDRIVER, etc.) at his own Audiohammer Studios. The three new tracks are entitled "Integral Birth", "Evolutionary Sleeper" and "Adam's Murmur", but Masvidal and Reinert have already written a full album's worth of new material and the band will use the demo to begin talks with record companies about a 2008 release.

Masvidal comments, "I'm amazed that we're here again, and that is a testament to the unpredictable beauty of the creative process. We received so much inspiration during last summer's reunion tour that a flood of new material has since poured out of us. There must be a default metal root in us from childhood that insists on being watered and loved, so we're just trying to keep up with ourselves — the CYNIC sirens are screaming inside and won't let up! Our policy has always been about surrendering to what feels most organic and staying in the flow. To put it mildly, this last year has been a creatively abundant and productive period. We're intoxicated about now and the future."

More news on CYNIC's recording and touring plans will soon be announced, and a new website will soon be launched at www.cyniconline.com.

Watch CYNIC performing the new song "Evolutionary Sleeper" at Hovefestivalen in Norway, June 2007:

I did, until yesterday, when I read the very news you posted.

It's f*cking great, but not quite up to par with Focus yet. I hope they record some of the songs written right after it.

Since Clutch is being/been discussed here, I thought I could post it.

Has anyone heard about The Company Band? Well, neither have I but I got this Bulletin a while ago:

THE COMPANY BAND To Perform During MTV's 'Jackass' Takeover -

Jan. 18, 2008

THE COMPANY BAND, which features in its ranks CLUTCH frontman Neil Fallon, FIREBALL MINISTRY's James Rota, CKY drummer Jess Margera, guitarist Dave Bone, and PUNY HUMAN bassist Jason Diamond, will make its live debut during the "Jackass" 24-hour MTV takeover on February 9 in Times Square, New York City.

If you would like to be in the studio audience, e-mail [email protected]

In other news, THE COMPANY BAND's debut EP, "Sign Here, Here and Here", is currently available on iTunes and other digital outlets. The physical CD will be available for shipping via MerchDirect.net on February 9.

"Sign Here, Here and Here" was produced by Andrew Alekel (FU MANCHU, FIREBALL MINISTRY) at Grandmaster Recorders in Hollywood and features the following tracks:

01. Company Man

02. Fortune's a Mistress

03. Spellbinder

04. Heartache & Misery

For more information, visit TheCoband.com

I must admit, its sounding quite good from listening to the samples.

Mastodon kicks fecking ass tho.

You have it backwards.

I, however prefer Mastodon to Neurosis.

It is like preferring to eat wax fruit over real fruit, or low-carb chocolate cake over real chocolate cake.

@Clutch discussion: If you like Clutch (their later stuff at least, which is much bluesier), check out The Bakerton Group, which is just Clutch minus vocals. Even more bluesy than recent Clutch with a little bit of jazz elements thrown in. Overall very funky and should be pleasing to anybody who enjoys lively, multi-layered instrumental rock. The vinyl release is top-notch. smile.gif

It's alright because the quote in your sig just nulled your opinion.

I've basically listened to Destruction's discography chronologically, starting from the Sentence Of Death EP up until The Antichrist because Metal Discharge and Inventor Of Evil are pure sh*t. I might go back and listen to them though seeing as it seems my tolerance for Destruction has gone up.

I only liked 1 song from Inventor of Evil, Soul Collecter.

Meh, I've become pretty bored with thrash. The whole being fast for fasts sake has just got real boring to me. Tried listening to some of the Exodus I have, just couldn't do it. Though, some I can still tolerate(Vio-Lence, Dark Angel) but most of it is just stale to me now.

You're not listen to the right thrash, honestly. Have you checked out the more progressive sh*t like Artillery? Vendetta? Heathen? How about the slapstick thrashers Assassin?

I have both of Heathens albums. The first one does nothing for me, and I only like Hypnotized off the second one. Never listened to the other bands.

I suggest you get the following albums, they are in no way thrash and might cure the whole "fast for fast's sake".

Riot - Thundersteel

Running Wild - Black Hand Inn

Agent Steel - Omega Conspiracy

Attacker - The Second Coming

Those are some great speed metal albums. They have a more epic feeling to them, so it might cure your thrash problems if you're craving an 80's dosage of metal.

Bad choice of words on my part. Should have said not really interested in most thrash anymore.

generally if heyre having to play at that club, theyre going to play extremely old sh*t. Kinda like The Exploited they only play albums from their 'punk' era, not their new thrash sh*t.

Show No Mercy and the Haunting The Chapel EP are the only good things Slayer did. And judging by the fact that the prior was released in '83 and the latter was released in '84, I highly doubt they will play anything older than Hell Awaits. Not to mention Kerry King looks like a fat redneck and Tom Araya is older than dirt.

that's fine, i've seen bands like Youth Brigde, The Briefs, and The Vibrators they're al old enough to be my dad, or grandpa in some cases and the show was still f*ckin amazing.

I heard Michael Richards was gonna be at the Apollo the same day.

Don't forget Biafra re-uniting with the Dead Kennedy's and hosting TRL, then accepting the induction into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame.

And King Buzzo shaved his head.

Could somebody recommend me some good Death Metal? I'm new to the genre, and I'm not sure whether or not I'm going to like it that much, but I'd like to hear some good Death Metal before I pass judgement. I'm a punk fan, mostly. So I may be hard to please. tounge2.gif
