Bullet for my Valentine's new sh*t totally f*cks their old sh*t over, even if they are main stream to the amount of being as popular as Britney Spears.

Are you satisfied it's onto sh*t you return?

Are you happy that it is in piss that you drown?

Check out Anaal Nathrakh if you want some real UK metal.

And bolt thrower. Bolt Thrower are the default Death metal band from the UK are far as i'm concerned.

No dough this post will get questions and and maybe even some fighting.

Dude, seriously, just shut the hell up.

As I mentioned awhile back I've been on a huge speed/power metal kick lately. I know I mentioned a bunch of bands along those lines but let me give you a little rundown:

Agent Steel - Omega Conspiracy [and] Unstoppable Force

- I must admit, when I originally heard Agent Steel [unstoppable Force] it didn't really do anything for me. That was when I was hugely into thrash (again) so I just pushed them aside. These guys are f*cking epic. Well, maybe not epic but they are just awesome. It doesn't have the "epicness" that we've come to love in most power metal (and some) speed metal acts, but they have solid riffing and catchy songs. Agent Steel are a perfect example of speed metal done right. It has a bit of a thrashy edge, but is in no way comparable to thrash/speed acts such as Heathen, Flotsam And Jetsam, Holy Terror, etc.

Attacker - The Second Coming

- Some little known speed metal act who I'm sure raped the underground metal scene back in the 80s turned out to be one of the most awesome records I've heard all year. Not much can be said about these guys, honestly. This album is a very strong, above average speed metal album. Every song is solid, they won't make you need new pants, and they definitely won't bore you.

Hibria - Defying The Rules

- Incredible speed/power metal. You need this album. That is all.

Paradox - Collision Course

- I haven't been able to get past the second track simply because the intro is very long and melodic, which is a bit of a change from the rest that I've been listening to.

Riot - [f*ckin'] Thundersteel

- Thundersteel is f*cking epic. You need this album too.

Running Wild - Black Hand Inn

- This is epic pirate speed/power metal. Running Wild is my Manowar. No f*cking joke.

StormWarrior - StormWarrior

- Much like Attacker, they don't do anything ground breaking, but deliver extremely solid power/speed metal. This is great stuff.

Non-speed/power stuff I have been listening to are as follows:

Razor - Open Hostility

D.R.I. - Full Speed Ahead

Wehrmacht - Biermächt

Recently I have discovered some heavy electronic bands, that refer to their products of creative processes as to "grindcore" as well.

Genghis Tron is one of them.

Genghis Tron are hilarious, but if you want some kickarse death metal with electronic elements, get 'The Project Hate MCMXCIX - Armageddon March Eternal (Symphony of Slit Wrists)'

Also their 2007 album "In Hora Mortis Nostræ"

No dough this post will get questions and and maybe even some fighting.

Ire Works was pretty bad ass. The whole EP with Mike Patton on vocals too.

Grand Theft Auto 3

Yah, Idle Works was a nice surprise.. their most experimental and yet still very crushing at times. Ah, and as far as clean-vocal singles go, 'Black Bubblegum' kicks the ass of that piece of sh*t 'Unretrofied' from Miss Machine.

Anyways, just curious since I can't find much information on this anywhere I've looked so far, but does anyone here know the full story of what's going on between Wrest (Leviathan, Lurker of Chalice) and Moribund Records? I just found out about the 'feud' last night and M-A is only telling me so much.. but yah, apparently Leviathan is no more and Wrest can't release the new albums from either of the projects now? confused.gif

I don't know if I would really call them metal or not, but I've been listening to The Melvins alot lately, and they have been kicking my ass.

More metal than anything else, in my mind. Maybe so heavy that it transcends metal and classifies as pure sludge.

NEUROSIS TO PLAY FIRST NYC SHOWS IN 4 YEARS

MASTODON CONFIRMED TO OPEN

JANUARY 24 AND 25 AT THE BROOKLYN MASONIC TEMPLE IN FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN

In what is shaping up to be a historic couple days in heavy music, metal heavyweights Mastodon will support the band that has been an important influence on them, Neurosis, at two very special shows at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Mastodon will be premiering new material from their upcoming album for the first time. Neurosis is supporting their critically-acclaimed career-watermark Given To The Rising.

The Friday January 25 show is close to selling out. A limited amount of tickets are still available for Thursday January 24 show. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.brooklynmasonictemple.com, and also at Other Music in Manhattan, and Sound Fix in Williamsburg.

Two bands on Neurosis own label Neurot Recordings will open - US Christmas on January 24 and A Storm of Light on January 25.

Doom and ambient metal were terms not even invented over twenty years ago in 1985 when Neurosis first formed in northern California. Creating a unique and profound mix of heavy drones and experimental arrangements, Neurosis have influenced artists like Mastodon, Isis and Pelican, collaborated with Swans and, with their pioneering use of synchronized, custom-made visuals during live performances, no doubt influenced Tool. Neurosis will perform at the appropriately cultish Brooklyn Masonic Temple with special guest Mastodon.

"It's been said before, but Neurosis' career trajectory defies all known logic. For over 20 years the Bay Area titans have stood at the forefront of innovation in heavy music, displaying the kind of vision and creativity that most bands can only dream of. The sense of scale conveyed in their music is unparalleled; their influence on today's music scene incalculable.... -ROCK SOUND UK

What would be some good Clutch songs to check out?

Just get the following albums regardless:

Pure Rock Fury

Blast Tyrant

Robot Hive: Exodus.

Though, the song that made me realise just how awesome clutch are is 'Ghost', but also try "The Mob Goes Wild", "Subtle Hustle" and "Burning Beard"

The self-titled is much more metal, and pretty much my ideal Clutch record.

Get the self-titled at least.

yes. awesomness.

I need another Melvins album. Bullhead or Electroretard?

And I'm getting High on Fire's latest album after a favorable pitchfork review....am i a sheep? perhaps, but I bet the album's sick anyways.

Pitchfork is really hit or miss. Some of their reviews are quality, but some of them don't make a whole lot of sense. But yeah, HoF's new album is good, get it.

Bullhead. Has some of their best songs from the early years: Boris, Anaconda, It's Shoved, Your Blessened... Whereas Electroretard is a few remixes, an experimental piece (a song that is exactly the same forwards and backwards, called sh*t Storm), and a few covers (Pink Floyd, Cows, The Wipers).

Bullhead is definitely what you want.

I think it was Phalanxe who said to take it for what it is: someone else's opinion. It's impossible to always agree with it, but sometimes it's nice to see get a feel for an album before purchase.

Went record shopping. Ridiculously typical that the only Melvins albums they had were the ones I owned (Bootlicker, Stoner Witch, Houdini), so that was fruitless, but I'll try and get Bullhead next time if I see it.

I did pick up Acid Bath's When the Kite String Pops, Clutch's self titled with Blast Tyrant, and Death Is This Communion.
