I'm not normally much of a fan of tech-death but Archspire's "Relentless Mutation" absolutely blew me away.

Oli's vocals do get a little grating at times but by gee by jingo by crikey, that album as far as technicality goes is off the scale. My favourite of that album is 'Human Murmuration'. As for Spencer Prewitt? Out of this world.

Frankly I love the vocals because they're so unusual. It's taken me a couple of days to figure out what it reminds me of- a hyper-technical Cephalic Carnage with sprinkling of Anata. Listen to Remote Tumor Seeker and tell me it doesn't remind you of something off "Anomalies".

Well, I never got into Cephalic Carnage (bought Lucid Intervals years ago but didn't like it all that much) but I just went through 'Anomalies' and 1. holy sh*t what an album, maybe I got off the train a little early and 2. yeah i can see what your getting at.

It appears I wasn't been fair to earlier Cattle Decapitation material...just listened to 'The Harvest Floor' whilst riding home from work and aside from a few ordinary moments, its a damn good album.

I find myself 15 years old again, and really in to black metal all of the sudden.

Don't get me wrong, I've always liked it, but not in the way I did as an edgy 15-year old.

You might've put the years behind you Dev, but by god the titular song was badass.

I worked for you f*cking bastards

I worked for your f*cking lies

I went and pissed away too many f*cking opportunities

to try and make you f*ckers feel right

and I f*cking hate you.. I f*cking hate you [x6]

I am the coming of a new age

stained we still stand tall

I am the coming of a new age

and I will never fall

I bear the questions of a new time

Seen but never heard

I've seen the comings of a new time, get ready...

'cause here it comes.

Still one of my favourite SYL tunes to date.

I gotta admit, I never really got into Gojira when I first heard them but something clicked with me recently and I just can't stop listening lately. This is near perfect.

New Skinless....and how kind of them to release it right before my birthday. Looks like a cracking year for new releases...my bois Unravel's debut album, Inferi in April, Cattle Decapitation at some point, Beyond Creation, maybe Cryptopsy to name a few.

Part of me really wants to like the Acrania stuff for their take on socially-aware metal, but I actually can't tolerate more than a few seconds of it.

It's not a pathological dislike of deathcore- the likes of Despised Icon and Animosity get regular if occasional playtime. I think it's a production issue- it's all so clipped and compressed it lacks any of the kind of depth.

And Luke Griffin's lyrics are tragically bad.

I'll take my political *-core black and crusty, please.

Cross-post from the punk thread.

I quite like Luke's vocals, actually. I love his transitions between low-pitched death growls and high-pitched pig squeals. His cover of BMTH's Shadow Moses was pretty beast, I must say.

Anyway, anyone here like some melodic metalcore?

If you guys want some truding, crushing doom, my band finally put up a demo of newish works we've been sitting on for a while. We'll be working on a full length (of 5 songs) later this year, so here's a teaser.

Corrupted - El Mundo Frio

Back in around 2008 they were playing in France and I went to the venue, not having a ticket and not really sure I was going to go inside or not, I did not really know the band at this time. I'm so glad I went in and finally witnessed one of the most intense show I've ever been to... They were playing this album in full...

and I was high as a kite

Volume = 11

They have been growing on me...just read the other day that Alan of The Black Dahlia Murder is drumming for them now. That can only be good news.

Speaking of TBDM, I may have raved a bit about 'Nightbringers' but this is my favourite TBDM album

Random purchases last night have yielded killer results!

DEFLORATION is a new favorite, blending European death metal riff construction with American brutal death songwriting. I nabbed Dripping With Blood and Necrotic Nightmare, both a solid 7.5/10 for me.

(Not from the discs I picked up, but there isn't much of them on YouTube)

BENIGHTED is a favorite anyway, but I always pick up physical copies for bands whose work I mostly have downloaded on a hard drive somewhere. Necrobreed is just as killer as Carnivore Sublime, 8.5/10, you'll love them if you're into Aborted or similar deathgrind bands.

BROKEN HOPE...why the hell have I waited so long?! Mutilated and Assimilated is how tech death should be. Fxck being pretty, this is DEATH METAL.

I've spent some time this afternoon going through my latest pick-ups and giving listens to albums/EPs I've missed. I was in the mood for some black metal and remembered this album, Innerlig Förmörkelse by a Swedish outfit called Sorgeldom. I'm not too clued up on black metal as a genre but I do rather enjoy the energy and lo-fidelity. I couldn't rattle off any underground essentials, but I mostly like what I've heard so far.

Anybody else have some of their own material they'd like to share?

This was a band I was in back in 2012/2013. We went through drummers like bad chili through your GI tract.

I start to dig Gojira a lot, I remember back in 2008 when a friend of mine said to me listen them and I ignore them all those 10 years, wow.

Even, I like his last album more than his older ones, I like that atmosphere or aura in the production makes the music more punchy, obviously lyrics are greatness, maybe I want a buy it to my collection, I like those albums then touch my heart since start to end, so I play it a lot and never bores me.
