Last night I saw the second last ever show of the grind monster that is BLOOD DUSTER.

Beware of the million videos I'll probably post in December when they play their last show - and completely transcend the cult status they've retained for 25 years.

BLOOD DUSTER - DRINK FIGHT F*CK (2002) (Gnarly impenetrable Northcote grind)

BLOOD DUSTER - GIVING STIFF TO THE STIFF (1997) (Filthy lascivious ostentatious riff lord)

Gonna be a sad day my friends. If you've never heard of or listened to Blood Duster all I can do is recommend the living f*ck out of it, have never seen crowds more intense than those dedicated to the beast.

Man, I love Speedwolf. Thanks so much for mentioning them, Siv. Also, you've sold me on Kroh. As soon as I have the time, I have to check those guys out.

Here's another black metal release. The one that actually got me introduced to and hooked onto the genre. Wolves In The Throne Room, from Washington, and their 2007 release, "Two Hunters".

First time I've heard of Neuraxis through this song, pretty damn good slab of tech death.

Definitely heard of these blokes though, most favourite Aussie tech death band ever.

Psycroptic

I've never really understood the mass appeal for these guys to be honest. Granted I'm not huge on techdeath as it is but saw them sometime last year and by the way mates had spoken about them was expecting something a lot more. I dunno... maybe it's just me though... the pit went off its f*cking head for them.

Gonna link them to this band though. This is Psycroptic's drummer with Blood Duster's vocals.

And the guitarist from f*ck I'm Dead.

Playing melodic black metal.

In other words it was always going to be a pretty nice release.

Riff reminds me a lot of Bathory's Nordland.

KING - RECLAIM THE DARKNESS (2016)

On the topic of kinda-sorta black metal music Ne Oblivisaris' recent single was alright - not sure how the whole thing will shape up to Citadel but I'm sure they'll give it a red hot go.

NE OBLIVISCARIS - INTRA VENUS (2017)

On the theme of more Neurosis-y, sludgy, depressive doom/crust: Anopheli

Plus probably the gnarliest folky melodic black metal band out there at the moment: Havekruunu

I've been a huge fan of WITTR since Diadem of 12 Stars, and have seen them 5 times so far (once at their farm in Olympia, WA), and I'll be catching them next month with Pillorian (John from Agalloch's new project). As stoked as I am to see them again, the song they've teased from the new album seems kind of generic. Way less shoegazey than the stuff they've put out before. Pillorian's record they put out this year is really good though, so I think it'll be a great show.

More black metal:

I did the artwork for these guys so I might be biased, but the record is fantastic.

Massively underrated 'Thrakh album

Know I've posted it before but wonderfully emotive suicidal black/postblack metal

Massively underrated 'Thrakh album -snip-

Saw those guys live a few years ago and even got a guitar pick from one of the guitarists. What a god damn heavy show, simply amazing...

Newest track by Shining, from Sweden.

Needless to say, I'm massively hyped for "X - Varg Utan Floc" after hearing this. Their "IX - Everyone, Everything, Everywhere, Ends", from 2015, was one of my favourite releases that year and one of top albums of all time.

Absolutely digging the new TBDM record. Brandon Ellis has been an excellent addition.

Some old school death metal. This IMO is one of the best death metal records of the 90's, could've been even better if it wasn't for the one dimensional vocals but that aside its a cracker.

PaeganLoveSong

Was supposed to see Black Dahlia tonight. Found out after getting to the venue that the gig was cancelled (venue's fault) and is being rescheduled for 10/15 between Canadian dates.

Ah well. At least I have baby Corpsegrinder to keep me warm.
